  • Patent number: 7382270
Abstract: An apparatus supporting both identification of a battery type and communications over an interface between a battery and an electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device includes a processor for communicating with communications circuitry of the battery. Identification circuitry associated with the processor enables a determination of the type of battery with which the electronic device is connected. If a “smart” battery capable of carrying out serial communications with the electronic device is connected, the electronic device further provides means for carrying out communications between the processor and the communication circuitry of the battery.

  • Patent number: 7366667
Abstract: Method and device for the recognition of words and pauses in a voice signal. The words (Wi) spoken in a row and pauses (Ti) are thereby combined as to be appertaining to a word group as soon as one of the pauses (Ti) exceeds a limit value (TG). Stored references (Rj) are allocated to the voice signal of the word group, and an indication of the result of the allocation is effected after the limit value (TG) has been exceeded. To this end, parameters corresponding to the moments of the transitions between ranges with voice and non-voice are determined from the voice signal, and the limit value (TG) is then changed in dependence on said parameters.

  • Patent number: 7359854
Abstract: A solution for improving the perceived sound quality of a decoded acoustic signal is accomplished by extending the spectrum of a received narrow-band acoustic signal (aNB). A wide-band acoustic signal (AWB) is produced by extracting at least one essential attribute (zNB) from the narrow-band acoustic signal (aNB). Parameters, e.g., representing signal energies, with respect to wide-band frequency components outside the spectrum (ANB) of the narrow-band acoustic signal (aNB), are estimated based on the at least one essential attribute (zNB). This estimation involves allocating a parameter value to a wide-band frequency component, based on a corresponding confidence level.

  • Patent number: 7330072
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) power amplifier, including an external control loop and a protection circuit, which functions to maintain a constant output power during variations in impedance on the RF load. In the external control loop a collector current from an output transistor is detected and then regulated with respect to a reference current. The regulated signal is utilised to generate a bias control signal which is input to the base electrode of both a driver transistor and the output transistor. The protection circuit detects a voltage envelope at the collector electrode of the output transistor and utilises this signal to form a bias reduction signal which is input to the base electrode of the driver transistor.

  • Patent number: 7328004
Abstract: Advertisement system and method of advertising by using one or more advertiser devices, which each corresponds to an advertisement which is perceptible by a user of a consumer device. The advertiser device and the consumer device are equipped with a nearby radio control device, such as based on Bluetooth technology, and a controller connected thereto. Upon coming into each others range the radio devices establish a communication path through which a user of the consumer device is enabled to fetch an advertisement identification and additional information related to the advertisement. The user may communicate with the advertiser device to leave personal information, such as an address, to be contacted later by the advertiser. He may also fetch data, such as an URL, by which he can contact the advertiser later.

  • Patent number: 7321646
Abstract: To receive a signal from a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) communication channel, initial channel taps are generated based on an impulse response estimate of the MIMO communication channel. The received signal is pre-filtered using the initial channel taps to generate output channel taps and a corresponding output signal having an increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and uncorrelated noise. The SNR is based on a ratio of the energy in a first subset of the output channel taps to the energy in a second subset of the output channel taps.

  • Patent number: 7319868
Abstract: Wireless communication method and system for improving optimal antenna weight derivation in transmit diversity mode during soft handover. The method and system use scale factors that depend on the reliability of the feedback information (FBI) detection on the uplink. Depending on FBI detections for each link, the scale factors are then applied to the downlink channel response estimates. FBI detection performance may be based on downlink antenna verification, downlink transmit power control command “up/down” ratio, or both. Poor antenna verification or a high number of “power up” commands on the uplink may indicate unreliable FBI detection. By applying higher scale factors to downlink channel responses corresponding to reliable FBI detection, better closed transmit diversity performance during soft handovers may be achieved. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
