Patent number: 6388532Abstract: A system and method for programming a digitally tunable oscillator is provided. A desired output frequency is received. A tuning effect of a set of digital tuning words on a crystal resonant frequency is determined, and valid parameters of an algorithm for translating and tuning the crystal resonant frequency to a value within an error tolerance of the desired frequency, based on the determined tuning effect are calculated. Valid parameters are preferably calculated based on an intermediate tuning value, sorted by ascending divide parameter of the algorithm, and then evaluated in sorted order for ability of a tuning effect to null frequency error to within the error tolerance. The valid set of calculated parameters are then programmed into a nonvolatile memory. The oscillator control parameters may remain unprogrammed until all necessary parameters are defined.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Cardinal Components, Inc.Inventor: David J. Patent number: 6371240Abstract: The modular anechoic panel system provides modular anechoic panel for construction of anechoic chambers particularly advantageous for use in sound testing and measurement. The modular anechoic panel incorporates into a single structural member the elements of structural support, transmission loss features, and the wedge base and air space elements of an anechoic wedge thus providing enhanced protection to elements of the anechoic wedge. The modular anechoic panel provides a durable structural member and, as assembled, form a structural shell of an anechoic chamber having a reduced footprint. Additionally, the modular anechoic panel provides a compression clip mounting system for conveniently mounting and replacing wedge tips, thus allowing for use of standard wedge tip materials and easy assembly, repair and replacement of damaged wedge tips.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2000Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Austin Acoustic Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert W. Patent number: 6358565Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making a protective coating containing silicon carbide on at least a portion of the surface of a substrate made from a material with a softening temperature that is above the temperature applied to make the protective coating, where silicon is deposited on the portion of the surface of the substrate and where, under vacuum or in an inert atmosphere, the substrate is heated to a temperature above the melting point of silicon, and the silicon is brought to reaction with carbon that is contained in a porous coating. The surface of the object to be coated is initially provided with a porous carbon coating with an open porosity in a range between 40 and 95%, where said porous carbon coating is covered with a uniform coating of silicon, where the ratio in percent of mass (Ma-%) of the applied silicon to that of the carbon in the porous carbon coating is greater than 2.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1999Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Deutsches Zentrum fuer Luft-und Raumfahrt E.V.Inventors: Walter Krenkel, Thilo Henke

Patent number: 6352248Abstract: A hydraulically damped bearing having a first anchoring member (2) and a second anchoring member (3) that are arranged in a movable fashion to one another, having a spring element (6) operating between the first and second anchoring members (2, 3), and having an operating chamber (10) filled with a damping fluid and a compensation chamber (11) separate from the operating chamber (10) and connected to it via a channel (14) that is defined by the channel walls and that allows the fluid to pass through. The volume of the operating chamber (10) changes due to the relative movement of the first and second anchoring members (2, 3), such that the damping fluid is moved in the channel (14) between the compensation chamber (11) and the operating chamber (10). The operating chamber (10) and the compensation chamber (11) are separated by a separating wall (12) that is impacted on both sides by the damping fluid.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2000Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Carl FreudenbergInventors: Arno Hamaekers, Hans-Joachim Rudolf, Arnold Simuttis

Patent number: 6352499Abstract: A process is disclosed for operating a centrifuging unit with a centrifuging container, in particular a centrifuging bowl, for separating the components of a liquid, in particular blood, containing components with different specific weights. The centrifuging container has a separation chamber, a liquid inlet into the separation chamber. The inlet and the outlet extend through a revolving passage at the upper end of the container. The inlet is in communication with an inlet duct which opens in a defined area of the container into the separation chamber. A pumping device is provided for filling and/or emptying the centrifuging container. The liquid to be centrifuged is supplied through the inlet. After a desired amount is separated, the flow direction between the inlet and the outlet is reversed while the centrifuging container continues to rotate at its full working speed, so that at least one of the separated components is discharged from the separation chamber through the inlet duct and the inlet.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1999Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Inventor: Peter Geigle

Patent number: 6345238Abstract: A linear temperature sensor that incorporates passive bipolar semiconductor devices and is capable of high accuracy over a very wide temperature range. The passive bipolar semiconductor device splits a voltage drop between the bipolar semiconductor and a resistor, such that the voltage drop varies approximately linearly in negative dependence on temperature. Optionally the linearity may be improved by providing sufficient current to produce a self-heating effect which compensates for non-linear deviations in performance at low temperatures.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1999Date of Patent: February 5, 2002Assignee: Airpax Corporation, LLCInventor: Shaun Goodwin

Patent number: RE37730Abstract: In a method for collecting on judgments, zip code data is maintained in electronic form in a memory of a digital computer. The zip code data includes, for each given zip code, a list of respective zip codes all geographically contiguous to the given zip code. Bank data is also maintained in electronic form in the memory of the digital computer. The bank data includes bank identification information and address zip codes for banks covered by the bank data. In implementing the method, a zip code for a judgment defendant is entered into the computer. The computer is then operated to determine (i) a plurality of zip codes contiguous to the entered zip code and (ii) target banks with addresses having one of the entered zip code and the determined contiguous zip codes.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1998Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Wind Associates, Inc.Inventor: H.
