  • Patent number: 6099163
Abstract: A circuit for correcting a non-linear output of an electronic temperature sensor due to a non-linear drift over an operating range of temperature. The circuit includes a first circuit portion for adjusting a bias voltage of the sensor to a select initial voltage. The circuit also includes second circuit portion interfacing with the first circuit portion. The second circuit portion comprises at least one electronic element with a non-linear drift over the operating range of temperature, but in a direction opposite that of the drift of the temperature sensor. Thus, the drift of the electronic element alters the bias voltage over the operating range in a manner that compensates (at least partially) for the non-linear drift of the temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 6081750
Abstract: An adaptive interface for a programmable system, for predicting a desired user function, based on user history, as well as machine internal status and context. The apparatus receives an input from the user and other data. A predicted input is presented for confirmation by the user, and the predictive mechanism is updated based on this feedback. Also provided is a pattern recognition system for a multimedia device, wherein a user input is matched to a video stream on a conceptual basis, allowing inexact programming of a multimedia device. The system analyzes a data stream for correspondence with a data pattern for processing and storage. The data stream is subjected to adaptive pattern recognition to extract features of interest to provide a highly compressed representation which may be efficiently processed to determine correspondence.

  • Patent number: 6072644
Abstract: A process and device are disclosed for reading weak magnetically recorded signals from a photographic film provided with a transparent thin magnetic layer. The signals from a magnetic read head obtained from the moving film are pre-amplified and the pre-amplified signals are digitized, filtered, differentiated and evaluated. The output of the magnetic read head (2) is supplied to the pre-amplifier (5) in short-circuit. This means that the internal resistance R.sub.i of the magnetic head is very high compared to the input resistance R.sub.e of the amplifier connected immediately downstream of the magnetic read head coil.

  • Patent number: 6069685
Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing high quality prints from photographic negatives employ a printer with a system that scans the negatives optical densities region by region. Corresponding quantities of light are calculated, the first prints are then printed using these quantities, and thereafter these quantities are stored in a memory to be retrieved at a later time for duplicate prints. To locate the stored values representing the first printing light quantities, the densities employed to calculate the light quantities are associated with those quantities in the memory. The negatives are scanned again when the subsequent prints are to be printed. The measured densities are then compared with the densities stored during the first printing process. If and when the results are similar, the identity of the two negatives is confirmed and the first printing light quantities are obtained from the memory and employed for producing the subsequent prints.

  • Patent number: 6068182
Abstract: An insulated container of paper which does not feel hot to the touch even when a user holds a trunk portion thereof in a hot water-containing state. The trunk portion has a doubly-walled structure with an insulating space provided between two wall members thereof. The doubly-walled insulating space-retaining structure is formed, as shown in FIG. 2, by inwardly curling both end portions of a cylindrical member and firmly fitting the resultant cylindrical member around an outer surface of a trunk portion of an inner container body. This structure results in a container capable of being manufactured at a low cost and having a high insulating capability and a high grasping resistance.

  • Patent number: 6059304
Abstract: The invention provides a simplified, light-weight, and an inexpensive suspension device which is capable of absorbing and mitigating shock and oscillation caused by projections and recesses on the road surface. To achieve the above object, the invention has embodied a suspension device 10 comprising the following: a main crank shaft 14 being rotatably supported by a shaft supporter 12 secured to a main body frame, a pair of crank arms 16 and 18 extending themselves substantially orthogonally from both ends of the main crank shaft 14 in the direction inverse from each other, and a pair of crank pins 24 and 26 being set projectively to edge portions of said crank arms 16 and 18 and housing wheels 20 and 22 by coupling therewith. Directions of a pair of crank arms 16 and 18 extending themselves in the inverse directions respectively form a predetermined angle by way of centering around the main crank shaft 14.
