  • Patent number: 8189510
Abstract: A mobile IP communication system includes a home agent 1 and a plurality of foreign agents 6a-6c. The home agent 1 manages the location of a mobile node 4. The mobile node 4 transmits a location registration request to the foreign agent 6a. The foreign agent 6a transmits the location registration request to the home agent 1 via a path routed trough a router R1, in accordance with a routing table. When there is congestion in the path routed through the router R1, the foreign agent 6a transfers the location registration request to the foreign agent 6b. The foreign agent 6b transfers the location registration request to the home agent 1.

  • Patent number: 8189711
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transmission controlling method in a wireless communications system and a receiver for use in the same system. The invention aims at realizing power control (or transmit rate control) more effective than previous techniques by means of utilizing a certain relationship between an error rate and an evaluation amount relating to the estimation amount. Thus, a certain relationship is defined between the evaluation amount relating to a reception condition and an error rate on the receiver, and on the basis of this certain relationship, transmit power of the transmitter is controlled.

  • Patent number: 8189629
Abstract: A communication method in a mobile communication system that transmits different data to which transmission sequence numbers have been attached, over each of a plurality of paths from a mobile station to a radio network controller via a plurality of base stations; where the radio network controller monitors the communication state of each path, determines to transmit the data over all of a plurality of paths, transmit the data over two or more specified paths, or transmit the data over only one specified path, based on the communication state of each path, and notifies the mobile station of the determined path/paths; and where the mobile station transmits different data to which different transmission sequence numbers have been attached, over said notified path/paths, and the radio network controller rearranges the data received from each path by reference to the transmission sequence numbers and transmits the rearranged data to a core network.

  • Patent number: 8189531
Abstract: A wireless communication system is disclosed that includes plural wireless base stations that act as an origin wireless base station and a destination wireless base station, and a wireless mobile station. The origin wireless base station starts a handover process in response to movement of the wireless mobile station, attaches a header including transfer order information to transmission packet data addressed to the wireless mobile station, and transfers the transmission packet data with the header to the destination wireless base station. The destination wireless base station receives the transmission packet data with the header, determines whether a transfer order of the transmission packet data is correct based on the transfer order information included in the header, deletes the header from the transmission packet data upon determining that the transfer order is correct, and transmits the transmission packet data without the header to the wireless mobile station upon completion of the handover process.

  • Patent number: 8180971
Abstract: In a transactional memory technique, hardware serves simply to optimize the performance of transactions that are controlled fundamentally by software. The hardware support reduces the overhead of common TM tasks—conflict detection, validation, and data isolation—for common-case bounded transactions. Software control preserves policy flexibility and supports transactions unbounded in space and in time. The hardware includes 1) an alert-on-update mechanism for fast software-controlled conflict detection; and 2) programmable data isolation, allowing potentially conflicting readers and writers to proceed concurrently under software control.

  • Patent number: 8172694
Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining the kinematic characteristics of a golf club head are disclosed. The apparatus includes at least one piezoelectric component selectively positioned within or upon a club head. The piezoelectric component is preferably positioned to the rear of the center of gravity, and near the midpoint of the face of the club head. During a golf club swing, the piezoelectric component determines the acceleration and deceleration of the golf club head. When the club head impacts an object such as a golf ball, the piezoelectric component is also operable to determine the velocity of the club head. It may also be desirable for the piezoelectric component to determine the magnitude of vibration during impact. In this manner, the piezoelectric component may function determine the efficiency of a golf club swing.

  • Patent number: 8172695
Abstract: A golf putter with a novel offset and shaft-attachment design is disclosed and claimed. The club includes a head having a strike surface, a sole, and a top line. A tube is coupled to the head, a coupling member is coupled to the distal end of the tube, and a shaft is also coupled to the coupling member. The coupling member connects the tube and the shaft such that they are relatively offset. The longitudinal axes of the tube and the shaft may be substantially parallel, or the coupling member may be adjustable such that the longitudinal axes are not parallel. An alignment indicia is provided on the club head. The tube is coupled to the head at an angle such that it blocks the indicia from a user's view at address when the head is aligned properly. If the club head is not properly aligned, the golfer will be able to see the indicia and therefore know to adjust the club head before putting. Thus, putter disclosed and claimed herein provides both offset and a putting alignment aide.

  • Patent number: 8169997
Abstract: A communication system allocates a discrete line between a base station and each terminal device that allows discrete communication in a time span equivalent to several frames. The communication system includes a base station that has a processing function unit processing a physical layer using a given data format, and terminal devices each using an up-link line allocated by the base station. In the system, the base station and each terminal device communicates with each other by the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing method. The base station sends out a preamble signal cyclically, and has a means that sends out a vacant discrete connection identifier for identifying a vacant up-link line for a terminal device to send data to the base station when the base station receives an up-link line request from the terminal device.
