  • Patent number: 4437346
Abstract: The milk weight is accurately determined by a vertical elongate float (6, 46) in the measuring container (1) cooperating with a stationary switch (10). This switch actuates the supply (3) and discharge (5) valves in the container when the float reaches its uppermost position and at the same time issues a signal to a registration counter (not shown) for the milk quantities received in the container. The sampling device either has a sample holder (8) below the measuring container (1), comprising a sample receiving volume (11) with open upper end, or an aperture (52) in the discharge valve (49) seat (50). Thereby in operation a proportional portion of the milk quantities passing through the measuring container (1) is collected in a mixing beaker (23), from which a sample bottle (28) may be filled.

  • Patent number: 4436057
Abstract: The specification describes a method and arrangements for operating fluidized bed combustors in particular boilers. In the described method and arrangements thermal energy carried away from the combustor by the flue-gas emitted therefrom is recuperated by passing the flue-gas through a scrubber in which it is scrubbed with water. The scrubbing water subsequently being used to pre-heat fluidizing gas fed to the fluidized bed in the combustor and/or working fluid fed to the boiler. Additional description is given of using a heat exchanger through which both flue-gases from the combustor and the working fluid fed to the combustor are fed such that the heat carried away from the combustor in the flue-gases is given directly to the working fluid fed to the combustor. In the described method and arrangements the fluidizing gas may be charged with water vapor and/or steam easing control of the bed.

  • Patent number: 4435974
Abstract: Leaks in fluid conveying pipe-lines, in which the noise from the escaping uid at the position of the leak creates sound waves are detected by at least one sound sensor and, at a known distance from it, a sound reflector, both of which are in direct contact with the fluid. The sound sensor receives the directly incident sound waves, and also the reflected sound waves from the sound reflector. The received signals are evaluated using an autocorrelation function.

  • Patent number: 4427808
Abstract: The invention relates to a composite polymeric material suitable for biological and medical applications and to the method for preparation thereof. The composite material consists of 1-99 wt. % of hydrophilic polymer or copolymer based on methacrylic or acrylic esters, 1-99 wt. % of fibrillar collagen, and up to 2.5 wt. % of a crosslinking agent, based on both polymeric components. The composite material may further comprise biologically active compounds and other auxiliary materials, as fillers and/or plasticizers. The composite material is prepared by dispersing the fibrillar collagen in a solution or a highly swollen dispersion of the synthetic hydrophilic polymer or copolymer in a lyotropic agent and the subsequent removal of the lyotropic agent, thus forming a matrix of the synthetic polymer or copolymer penetrated by fibrillar collagen or vice versa. The composite material may be applied on a solid support or reinforced with glass, plastics, cellulose, or metallic materials.

Abstract: The present drum can find application mainly for assembling large-size tire casings. The drum comprises sectors with shoulders provided with a drive for their radial movement. The drive incorporates slide-blocks arranged concentrically with each other on a shaft axially movable therealong. The slide-blocks are articulated, through levers, with the sectors. The midpoint of one of the levers of each slide-block is articulated with the shaft through the link which is half as long as the lever. The shoulders are provided with a mechanism for their relative movement with respect to the sector. The mechanism is made as a cam associated with the lever of radial movement drive of the sector. The cam is adapted to engage one of the toothed segments articulated to the sector. The toothed segments are kinematically associated with each other and are in mesh with the respective toothed racks connected to the shoulders, so that the toothed segment engages the cam through the agency of a pin provided on the cam.
