Abstract: Addition of sodium naphthaleneformaldehyde sulfonate having a lowest elution volume of from about 61 to about 70% of a total elution volume by gel permeation chromatography to the raw mix slurry used in manufacture of cement by the wet process permits reduction of the water content of the raw mix slurry and conservation of the amount of fuel required to evaporate the water from the slurry during manufacture.
Abstract: An improved coning oil to reduce oil slinging during yarn processing is obtained by adding an aluminum soap of a saturated fatty acid having from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms to a coning oil composition containing a mineral oil and at least one emulsifier.
Abstract: Compositions for controlling foam in aqueous systems are prepared by dispersing in an organic liquid the particles of an amide with the reaction product of an alkyl or aryl halosilane and a base. Polymers, fatty acids and glycerides may also be present as organic components in the compositions. These compositions do not lose defoaming ability or increase in viscosity after they are heated at elevated temperatures or stored for long periods of time.
Abstract: In dyeing nylon textiles with acid dyes, barre is reduced by using a synergistic mixture of a dye-leveling alkyl sulfonate and a dye-leveling alkyl aryl sulfonate.
Abstract: Leather treating compositions are prepared which comprise condensed or polymaric alkyl phenol phosphates generally and more particularly an alkylphenol-polyphenol condensate subsequently alkoxylated and phosphated. These compositions may be utilized for leather processing, and specifically for: retanning, lubricating, and imparting water resistance to chrome and/or mineral tanned leather. Additionally, these comprositions may be used to effect modifications of base mineral tannages for the purpose of dyeing, bleaching, and fatliquoring leather.
