  • Patent number: 5122051
Abstract: Part ejection apparatus for ejecting molded parts from a mold carried by a movable platen in an injection molding machine. A plurality of linearly operating hydraulic cylinders are provided to move an ejector bar that is carried along guide rods supported by a movable platen so that the ejector bar moves toward and away from a mold member that is carried by the movable platen. Suitable connections can be provided between the ejector bar and the ejection mechanism of the mold to drive ejector pins carried by the mold for separating the molded part from the mold surface. Additionally, a rotary motor is also carried by the movable platen and has its axis coincident with the longitudinal axis of the movable platen for connection of an output shaft of the motor with a drive mechanism carried by a mold, the drive mechanism suitable for rotating rotatable cores that form internal threads on the molded article.

  • Patent number: 5121946
Abstract: A pipe repair or joining collar comprising a pair of rigid arcuate casing members (10) which may be drawn together around a damaged pipe or a pair of pipe ends with the interposition of one or more elastomeric arcuate seals (13) and wedges (17) located between the casing members and the seals and adapted to slide inwardly and generally tangentially to force the seals radially inwards to ensure sealing engagement with the pipe or pipe ends, mutually abutting longitudinal resilient sealing strips (16) projecting, at least in part, from opposed faces of the wedges (17) in a manner such that in at least one region of each pair one of the sealing strips is substantially flush with its associated face whilst the other projects from it so that during assembly the projecting strip may ride laterally onto the flush strip to ensure lateral alignment of the casing members.

  • Patent number: 5116215
Abstract: An accumulator head for an extrusion-blow molding machine. The accumulator head includes an annular inner sleeve member slidably positioned within an accumulator outer barrel, and a tubular inner body member received within the sleeve member. The sleeve member and body member are adapted to be slidable together within the accumulator barrel to expel collected plasticated material. The inner sleeve member includes a pair of external slots formed in the outer surface that communicate with the accumulator inlet and with respective radially extending flow passageways through the inner sleeve to convey plasticated material from the accumulator inlet into a pair of helical flow channels formed in the accumulator inner body member. The flow channels communicate with an outlet area to convey the plasticated material to an inner accumulation chamber through an annular collector channel and an annular flow passageway that provides an extruded parison having a uniform conformation without flow or separation lines.

  • Patent number: 5113913
Abstract: A frame holder to which a heddle frame is coupled by a fastener operating in accordance with the toggle lever principle and pivotably mounted at the upper end of the frame holder by means of a pivot axis. The fastener includes a lever, consisting of two parallel levers, which is pivotable around a first pivot axis whereby an operating lever is pivotably mounted to its other end at a second pivot axis. A bolt which is pivotably arranged on this axis is located in the operating lever which is structured as a hollow rod. Due to elongate holes formed in the hollow rod and through which the axis extends the hollow rod is longitudinally displaceable relative to the bolt.

  • Patent number: 5109943
Abstract: A motorcycle engine stabilizer that is adapted to be positioned between the engine cylinder head and the motorcycle frame. The stabilizer includes an internally threaded sleeve that is adapted to receive an externally threaded adjustment rod that includes a cylindrical end adapted to bear against a frame tube surface adapter. The adjustment rod includes opposed flat surfaces adapted to permit a tool to engage the adjustment rod for threadedly extending it into or out of the sleeve. The frame tube surface adapter is positioned between the adjustment rod end and the frame. Rotation of the adjustment rod causes the surface adapter to engage a portion of the frame and causes the threaded sleeve base plate to engage the engine cylinder head, thereby providing additional support for the engine and reducing engine vibrations. A space plate having cooling channels can be positioned between the base plate and the engine cylinder head to prevent localized hot spots in the engine cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 5108478
Abstract: A gob of glass sucked from a glass metal and held in a suction mold (7) is further processed by preshaping the glass in the mold by a punch (4) having a projection (9) for forming in a recess or cavity (14) in the gob in the opening in the mold, and a plate-like surface (10) for forming a plate shaped bead (5) around the opening. This results in a large contact surface against which a blowpipe (1') with a transverse attachment plate (6) having a working surface flush with the end of the bore (3) of the blowpipe is pressed to attach the plate (6) to the bead (5). With this arrangement, the bore cannot become blocked with glass during the pressing operation.

  • Patent number: 5107956
Abstract: A device whereby personnel or other loads may descend from an elevated position at a controlled and variable speed, comprising a restraining member (12) having a series of slots (13). A tape stored in a container (20) passes through the slots (13) to a hook (10) for attachment of the device to a fixed point. A user wearing a harness (21) removably attached to the restraining member (12) may descend at a controlled rate determined by a light load applied to the tape (11) below the restraining member (12) owing to the frictional contact of the tape (11) passing around the edges of slots (13). After the descent a quick release shackle (16) releases the harness (21) from the device.

  • Patent number: 5102327
Abstract: A clamping system for traversing and clamping molds in a molding machine, the clamping system including a toggle-type clamp arrangement defined by a plurality of pivotally connected links. A movable crosshead is connected with one end of the toggle and is carried on a crosshead guide, and a ball screw is rotatably secured to the movable crosshead to extend in the direction opposite from the molds and through a stationary platen. A ball nut rotatably carried by the stationary platen is in engagement with the ball screw and is drivingly connected with a first motor to axially move the ball screw to provide between the molds a clamping force sufficient to resist separation of the molds during high pressure injection of molding material. A second motor is drivingly coupled with the ball screw and is movable therewith in an axial direction. The second motor is adapted to rotate the ball screw for rapid traverse movement of the movable crosshead to rapidly bring the molds into and out of contact.

  • Patent number: 5100070
Abstract: Improved insert teeth and holder assemblies are provided for a material breaker machine intended for use in reducing chunks or pieces of wood, metal and other materials to small size. The present invention includes an insert tooth member having a pair of edges, either of which may serve as a cutting edge. An insert tooth holder is provided for mounting of the insert tooth. The insert tooth and insert holder interengage through a raised portion on the one and a recessed portion on the other which mate to form a positive mechanical lock. The insert tooth is reversibly mounted on the insert holder to allow either of the pair of edges to assume the position of the cutting edge. The location of the interengaged components allows them to be fully protected from the material being cut, thus minimizing wear and damage.

  • Patent number: 5096099
Abstract: A slide gate assembly for use in maintaining a dust free environment is disclosed. The assembly includes a slide gate and a dust cover which operate to allow the passage of particulate or other material into or out of a bin or other container. In one embodiment, the gate is slidably mounted in a frame which is formed by a plate member, upper and lower base members and upper and lower gasket members. In one embodiment, some of the components are of neoprene while other components are of UHMW, thus providing resilient properties and also self-lubricating properties for the slide gate assembly. The gate assembly is maintained in a dust tight condition by means of controlled compression obtained through the use of bolts or screws which extend through the plate member, the base members and the gasket members.
