  • Patent number: 6310540
Abstract: A microcontroller is used to drive a piezoelectric transducer. Certain pins on the microcontroller are indicative of selection signals. The selector can be activated either by a user directly (e.g., by pushing buttons), by an offboard actuator (e.g., another microcontroller), or by any method known in the art for activating switches. In one embodiment, an output pin of the microcontroller acts as output for a high-low oscillator. The oscillation amplitude toggles between 0 and 5 volts in a square wave fashion. The output pin is coupled to the base of a bipolar junction transistor so that the transistor turns on and off as a switch in response to the high-low oscillations.

  • Patent number: 6297444
Abstract: A fixing device disposed on an opening of a guiding tube for fixing a heat sink on the opening is disclosed. The fixing device includes a circular rib and three elastic fixers. The circular rib is set around the opening for depositing the heat sink and sealing seams between the opening and the heat sink when the heat sink is assembled onto the opening. The first elastic fixer is set on the circular rib and has a first inclined plane for fixing the heat sink on the opening by pulsing the first inclined plane against the heat sink along a first direction. The second elastic fixer is set on the circular rib and has an indent for fixing the heat sink on the opening by locking the heat sink in the indent to prevent the heat sink from moving along a second direction. The third elastic fixer is set on the circular rib and has a contact structure for pushing the heat sink along a third direction. • Patent number: 6294098
Abstract: In an apparatus containing rotating filter media that removes solids from a fluid stream, the invention provides devices and methods for improved cleaning of the filter media. Solids trapped on the filter media are removed by the application of a suction pressure that draws the filter media into contact with a backwash shoe. The backwash shoe has one or more orifice slots in a radially tapered or oblique angular configuration or in a combination of radially tapered and oblique angular configurations. The orifice slot configuration creates an hydraulic condition where the unit of orifice area applied per unit filter area has a generally uniform ratio across the rotating filter media. This configuration equalizes the distribution of the backwash flow over the filter area, thereby maintaining the filter media in a more uniformly clean and effective filtering condition.
