Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel includes a liquid crystal panel having a plurality of pixels; a microlens array provided on a light-incident side of the liquid crystal panel; a first polarizing plate and a first optical compensation element provided on a light-outgoing side of the liquid crystal panel; and a second polarizing plate and a second optical compensation element provided on a light-incident side of the microlens array. The retardation of the first optical compensation element along the thickness direction is greater than the retardation of the second optical compensation element along the thickness direction.
Abstract: A game apparatus 3 moves an arrow object 72 in a virtual space, and then determines whether or not a hitting determination area 74 set for the arrow object 72 is in contact with a hitting determination area 73 set for a player character 71. When the two hitting determination areas 74, 73 are determined to be in contact with each other, the game apparatus 3 calculates a moving direction of the arrow object 72. The game apparatus 3 further causes the player character 71 to perform a motion such that at least a part of the player character 71 turns to a designated direction, which is an opposite direction to the moving direction of the arrow object 72. A display apparatus displays how the player character 71 performs the motion.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel (50a) includes a pair of substrates arranged, facing each other, a liquid crystal layer provided between the pair of substrates, and a frame-like sealing member (25) configured to bond the pair of substrates with each other and enclose the liquid crystal layer. A cavity forming wall (18ba) is provided on one of the pair of substrates between the liquid crystal layer and the sealing member (25) and is configured to form a cavity region (C) therein by an upper end of the cavity forming wall contacting the other of the pair of substrates. The cavity region (C) is configured so that, when an excessive amount of a liquid crystal material which foims the liquid crystal layer is enclosed, the cavity forming wall is destroyed to cause a portion of the liquid crystal material to flow into the cavity region (C).
Abstract: Example embodiments of this invention relate to a method of making a thermally tempered coated article including a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) film in a color compression configuration supported by a tempered glass substrate. A coated article, that is thermally tempered and made by such a process, is also provided. Coated articles according to certain example non-limiting embodiments of this invention may be used in applications such as solar cells, oven doors, electrostatic discharge glass, solar control windows, defrosting windows, or other types of windows in certain example instances.
Abstract: An electron emitting element of the present invention includes an electron acceleration layer provided between an electrode substrate and a thin-film electrode, which electron acceleration layer includes (a) conductive fine particles and (b) insulating fine particles having an average particle diameter greater than that of the conductive fine particles. The electron emitting element satisfies the following relational expression: 0.3x+3.9?y?75, where x (nm) is an average particle diameter of the insulating fine particles, and y (nm) is a thickness of the thin-film electrode 3. Such a configuration allows modification of the thickness of the thin-film electrode with respect to the size of the insulating particles, thereby ensuring electrical conduction and allowing sufficient current to flow inside the element. As a result, stable emission of ballistic electrons from the thin-film electrode is possible.
Abstract: A method of assigning tasks is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes displaying, on a user interface, one or more representations of tasks and a calendar of dates, each representation being indicative of a task to be completed. The method also includes receiving a user input indicative of a selected date from the calendar of dates and receiving a user input indicative of a selected representation of the one or more representations. The selected representation corresponds to a selected task. The selected date is assigned to the selected task. Further, the method also includes displaying on the user interface a list of constituents as a function of the selected date, receiving a user input indicative of a selected one or more constituents from the list, and assigning the selected one or more constituents to the selected task.

Abstract: To provide a solar cell module capable of discharging rain water or the like even when the solar cell module is installed outdoor such as on the roof, and rain water or the like flows into the solar cell module. A solar cell module 1 includes a solar cell panel 9 having a primary side and a secondary side adjacent to the primary side, a primary frame member 10 disposed along the primary side, and a secondary frame member 20a disposed along the secondary side. The primary frame member 10 and the secondary frame member 20a include a holding unit that holds the solar cell panel 9. The primary frame member 10 includes, below the holding unit of the primary frame member 10, an end face 17a that is open at an end portion in a lengthwise direction of the primary frame member 10 and a primary interior space 17 communicating with the interior from the end face 17a.
Abstract: Catalytic processes for the production of carnosol from carnosic acid using hydrogen peroxide or a peracid are presented. The carnosic acid may be in pure form, in an impure form, part of a plant extract, or may be present in rosemary needles. The catalyst may be iron, iron salts, a minor amount of water, rosemary needles, or a mixture thereof.

Abstract: An acid corrosion solution for preparing polysilicon suede is obtained by mixing with an oxidant and a hydrogen fluoride. The oxidant is a nitrate or nitrite. The method applied of the solution includes putting the polysilicon cut pieces into the acid corrosion solution to carry out the corrosion reaction. The reaction time is about 30 seconds to 20 minutes and the temperature of acid corrosion solution is ?10° C. to 25° C.

Abstract: An integrated circuit 2 is provided with multiple clock domains separated by a clock boundary 8. Data values are passed across the clock boundary 8 using a first-in-first-out memory (FIFO), a read pointer and a write pointer for the FIFO are passed across the clock boundary 8 and must be synchronized to the receiving clock frequency. The clocks being used on either side of the clock boundary 8 may be switched and have a variable relationship therebetween. Multiple synchronization paths are provided within pointer synchronizing circuitry 32 which are used depending upon the particular relationship between the clocks on either side of the clock boundary 8. A pre-switch pointer value is held in a transition register 44 until a post-switch pointer value is available from the new synchronizing path 36 when a switch in clock mode is made which requires an increase in synchronization delay.

Abstract: An image display device main roughly includes a floating image display unit 1 and a floating image recognizing unit 2. The floating image displaying unit 1 includes a display unit 10 having an image screen 11 for displaying a two-dimensional image, and an image transfer panel 20 located far from the image screen 11, the floating image display unit 1 being to focus light left from the image screen 11 on an image plane 30 in a space to thereby display a floating image, the space being located on one side of the image transfer panel 20 opposite to the other side thereof facing the display unit 11. The floating image recognizing unit 2 is formed of a light-transmissive plate 40 that is light transmissive. The light-transmissive plate 40 has a size that allows all light left from the image screen 11 and focused on the image plane 30 to be passed therethrough. The light-transmissive plate 40 is placed to be obliquely-crossed to the image plane 30.
Abstract: A method of accelerating charged particles using a laser pulse fired through a plasma channel contained in a capillary, wherein the plasma waveguide has deviations along its length that cause deviations in the plasma density contained therein, the deviations in plasma density acting to promote charged particle injection into a wake of a passing laser pulse. A radiation source based on a laser-driven plasma accelerator in a plasma waveguide in which the plasma waveguide and/or laser injection process is/are controlled so as to produce an undulating path for the laser pulse through the waveguide, the undulation exerting a periodic transverse force on charged particles being accelerated in the wake of the laser pulse, the resulting charged particle motion causing controlled emission of high frequency radiation pulses.

Abstract: A fastening device includes a lower engaging hook adapted to be provided on a first article and including a push portion, and at least one first hook portion spaced apart from and disposed below the push portion. Fixing plates are adapted to be provided on a second article disposed above the first article. At least one upper engaging hook is connected pivotally to and disposed between the fixing plates, and includes first and second arms formed as an inverted L-shaped configuration. The first arm extends downwardly from the second arm, and has a second hook portion to engage detachably the first hook portion. The second arm is engageable with the push portion. The upper engaging hook is pivotal to move the second hook portion to engage and move away from the first hook portion when the push portion engages and disengages from the second arm, respectively.
Abstract: A method and an arrangement enables an efficient radio resources utilization in a communication network system comprising a communication network node communicating with one or more user equipments over a radio interface on uplink and downlink channels. The user equipment provides the communication network node with information about a power shortage problem in the user equipment by using a pre-determined field, such as the E-TFCI field, of the uplink channel, whereby the communication network node is allowed to take a pre-determined action regarding available radio resources.
