  • Patent number: 8304045
Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to articles including anticondensation coatings that are exposed to an external environment, and/or methods of making the same. In certain example embodiments, the anticondensation coatings may be survivable in an outside environment. The coatings also may have a sufficiently low sheet resistance and hemispherical emissivity such that the glass surface is more likely to retain heat from the interior area, thereby reducing (and sometimes completely eliminating) the presence condensation thereon. The articles of certain example embodiments may be, for example, skylights, vehicle windows or windshields, IG units, VIG units, refrigerator/freezer doors, and/or the like.

  • Patent number: 8306789
Abstract: A method of designing a composite laminate including a plurality of zones, each zone including a plurality of plies of composite material, each ply having a respective ply orientation angle. A global stacking sequence of stacking sequence elements is determined for the laminate. A local laminate thickness is determined for each zone. A local stacking sequence is then determined for each zone by extracting a subsequence of stacking sequence elements from the global stacking sequence. The global stacking sequence and the laminate thicknesses are determined together in an optimization process in which multiple sub-ply selection variables are assigned to each stacking sequence element. Optimal values are determined for the sub-ply selection variables and the laminate thicknesses. A single one of the sub-ply selection variables is assigned to each stacking sequence element thereby forcing a discrete choice of global ply orientation angle for each stacking sequence element.

  • Patent number: 8304158
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a toner includes a pre-mixing step and a coating step. In the pre-mixing step, a secondary aggregate of the fine resin particles is disaggregated, while toner base particles and fine resin particles are mixed and stirred using a rotary stirring apparatus. Thus obtained disaggregated fine resin particles are fixed to the surface of the toner base particle. Thus, a fine resin particle-fixed toner is obtained. The rotary stirring apparatus includes a rotary stirring section, a temperature regulation section, a circulating section, and a spraying section. In the coating step, a liquid is sprayed to the fine resin particle-fixed toner with the spraying section using the rotary stirring apparatus. Thus, a film of the fine resin particles is formed. In the pre-mixing step and the coating step, temperature regulation is conducted in the temperature regulation section.

  • Patent number: 8305043
Abstract: In a voltage detecting apparatus, a voltage controlled oscillator, when an input voltage is applied thereto, outputs a signal with a logical value that is periodically inverted. A detector counts a number of logical inversion of the output signal from the voltage controlled oscillator over an interval between edges of pulses of a pulse signal to thereby generate, based on the counted number of logical inversion, digital data as a detected result of the input voltage. A determiner determines whether a reduction of a time required to detect the input voltage is higher in priority than an increase of a resolution of detection of the input voltage. A variably setting unit variably sets a frequency of the pulse signal based on a result of the determination of whether the reduction of the time required to detect the input voltage is higher in priority than the increase of the resolution of detection of the input voltage.

  • Patent number: 8306768
Abstract: Operation data including at least acceleration data and angular speed data is obtained from an input device including at least an acceleration sensor and a gyroscopic sensor. Next, at least one of an attitude and a position of a predetermined object in a virtual space is controlled based on the angular speed data. When at least one of the attitude and the position of the predetermined object is controlled based on the angular speed data, it is determined whether or not the acceleration data satisfies predetermined conditions. As a result, if the acceleration data satisfies the predetermined conditions, the predetermined object is caused to start a predetermined motion.

  • Patent number: 8305825
Abstract: A timing control circuit comprises at least three current control units coupled in parallel between a first circuit and a second circuit node. The current control units each have an active mode and an inactive mode. The current control units are responsive to a timing trigger event to pass current whose magnitude is dependent on how many of the current control units are in the active mode. The current control units comprise a plurality of groups. Current control units within a same group are responsive to a change in a bit of a control value corresponding to that group to switch together between the active and inactive modes, such that the magnitude of the current is dependent on which of the groups are in the active mode. The signal timing in the associated circuit is varied in dependence on the magnitude of the current.

  • Patent number: RE43784
Abstract: To optimize in advance a desired image quality determining pulse sequence parameter incorporated in an imaging scan, a preparation scan is adopted. The preparation scan is performed with the amount of at least one desired image quality parameter changed for each of plural preparatory images, so that a plurality of preparatory images at the desired same region of the object are acquired. For example, one such image quality parameter is TI (inversion time). The acquired preparatory scan data are processed into a plurality of preparatory images for display. A desired preparatory image is then selected from the plural preparatory images displayed, and the amount of the desired parameter used for that selected preparatory image is then set for use in the pulse sequence for a complete diagnostic imaging scan. Hence the desired image quality determining parameter of the pulse sequence is caused to have an optimum value before an actual complete diagnostic imaging scan.
