Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preferentially breaking cross-links in a vulcanized rubber, thereby de-vulcanizing the rubber, by the use of a supercritical fluid, such as carbon dioxide. The supercritical fluid maintained at an appropriate solubility parameter, swells the vulcanized rubber to a state of equilibrium swell. The cross links become fully extended and under strain to hold the internal pressures caused by the solvent swelling affect of the supercritical gas. When equilibrium swell has been achieved, the pressure within the processing vessel is rapidly dropped to a predetermined level causing a degassing and expansion of the supercritical fluid that has been absorbed within the vulcanized rubber. The resulting three dimensional separation of the rubber molecules will put a further rapid strain on the cross links, causing them to break, thereby giving the affect of de-vulcanization.

Abstract: A method of designing a composite laminate including a plurality of zones, each zone including a plurality of plies of composite material, each ply having a respective ply orientation angle. A global stacking sequence of stacking sequence elements is determined for the laminate. A local laminate thickness is determined for each zone. A local stacking sequence is then determined for each zone by extracting a subsequence of stacking sequence elements from the global stacking sequence. The global stacking sequence and the laminate thicknesses are determined together in an optimization process in which multiple sub-ply selection variables are assigned to each stacking sequence element. Optimal values are determined for the sub-ply selection variables and the laminate thicknesses. A single one of the sub-ply selection variables is assigned to each stacking sequence element thereby forcing a discrete choice of global ply orientation angle for each stacking sequence element.
Abstract: An active matrix substrate of the present invention is arranged so that each pixel area has a transistor and a capacity electrode which is able to function as an electrode of a capacity. The active matrix substrate includes a conductor which is provided in a layer below the capacity electrode and is able to function as the other electrode of the capacity. The gate electrode of each transistor and a gate insulating film covering the conductor have a thin section with reduced thickness, in an on-conductor area overlapping the conductor. At least a part of the thin section overlaps the capacity electrode. In this way, the active matrix substrate which can reduce inconsistency in capacitance values of capacities (e.g. a storage capacitor, a capacity for controlling an electric potential of a pixel electrode, and a capacity which can function as both of them) provided in the substrate.
Abstract: An electronic control unit performs a process that stores into a buffer selected diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) currently in a volatile trouble code storage by selecting, from among multiple codes, a code that is to be saved in an EEPROM, when an ignition switch of a vehicle is turned off. Further, the DTC stored in the buffer is written in the EEPROM. If the electronic control unit receives, from a scan tool, a command that instructs erasure of the DTC in the volatile trouble code storage, the above-described process is performed before erasing the DTC from the volatile trouble code storage.
Abstract: Operation data including at least acceleration data and angular speed data is obtained from an input device including at least an acceleration sensor and a gyroscopic sensor. Next, at least one of an attitude and a position of a predetermined object in a virtual space is controlled based on the angular speed data. When at least one of the attitude and the position of the predetermined object is controlled based on the angular speed data, it is determined whether or not the acceleration data satisfies predetermined conditions. As a result, if the acceleration data satisfies the predetermined conditions, the predetermined object is caused to start a predetermined motion.
Abstract: There is proposed a method of side-loading content onto a mobile device, preferably using a WiFi connection, from a network content store and storing it on the device for viewing later. The method automatically determines when to delete stored content, and more importantly, what content should be transferred over the network in the first instance. The system comprises a content manager which takes into account various parameters to determine what should be transferred and, if required, what should be deleted from the device. The parameters used include user profiles, size of a potential download, as well as available storage space on the device and the predicted duration the device will be in range of a wireless hotspot or broadcast network.

Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to robust semi-transparent coatings that are suitable for use in a wide variety of display-on-demand mirror applications, and methods of making the same. In certain example embodiments, a coated article includes a coating supported by a glass substrate. A reflective metal-inclusive layer is formed, directly or indirectly, on the glass substrate. A silicon oxide inclusive layer is formed, directly or indirectly, on the reflective metallic layer. A titanium oxide inclusive layer is formed, directly or indirectly, on the silicon oxide inclusive layer. The metal-inclusive layer is formed so as to reflect incoming light away from the glass substrate such that substantially less incoming light would be reflected away from the glass substrate if lighting were provided on a side of the glass substrate opposite the coating than if no lighting were provided. The surface of the coated article need not necessarily be conductive.
Abstract: The example embodiments disclosed herein relate to networks and, more particularly, to systems and/or methods that enable processes to be routed and/or executed in a distributed, location transparent manner. A process engine for use across instances of a service-oriented integration server is provided to a network having a messaging layer. The process engine executes a process in accordance with a process model defined at design time. Each instance of the process engine comprises runtime artifacts such as deployable units of executable logic; a publishing service for publishing a process transition document (PTD) that includes routing data as a part of the message itself; a subscription service for subscribing to the PTDs to be routed to the corresponding instance of the process engine; and a filtering service for filtering other PTDs published to the messaging layer.

Abstract: A learning device changes each of multiple parameters to an increased side and to a decreased side with respect to a reference value set for each of the multiple parameters. The learning device calculates an approximation degree for each combination of the changes of the multiple parameters. The learning device performs update by using the combination of the changes providing the highest approximation degree among the approximation degrees as the combination of the updated reference values when an update end condition is not satisfied. The update end condition is a condition that the approximation degree at the reference values is higher than any of the approximation degrees after the change. The learning device decides the reference values as learning values of the multiple parameters when the update end condition is satisfied.
Abstract: Transaction requests requesting a service from the slave device are received from a master device at a transaction interface. The transaction requests are selectively issued to the bus system under control of an issue control circuit. A target outstanding transaction value N.x is received at a control interface. The target outstanding transaction value has an integer portion N and a fractional portion x. The issue control circuit controls the transaction interface to issue the transaction requests to the bus system in dependence upon the target outstanding transaction value so that a time averaged number of outstanding transaction requests corresponds to the target outstanding transaction value.

Abstract: Heterocyclic compounds incorporating a [1,3]oxazine ring may be used to make chromogenic materials. These molecules switch from a colorless state to a colored form upon addition of either acid or base. In both instances, the [1,3]oxazine ring opens in response to the pH change forming an indolium cation, after the addition of acid, or a phenolate anion, after the addition of base. Alternatively, the switch may occur in response to a change in electrical current or potential or a change in temperature. Chromophores absorb in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Hence, their formation translates into the appearance of color. These processes are fully reversible and the original colorless state can be regenerated by switching the pH back to neutral. Thus, these halochromic compounds can be used to develop displays, filters, indicators, lenses, sensors, switches, or windows able to switch their color in response to pH changes.
