  • Patent number: 4349943
Abstract: A coupling element for a slide fastener has a grooved head adapted to receive tongues of opposed elements to prevent lateral shifting of the elements. The tongues, as well as tapes embedded in the elements, are upwardly offset from the center of the elements so that the top edges of the tapes, the tongues and the grooves are coplanar. Flat abutment surfaces at the rear of the head absorb transverse loads and stabilize the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4329311
Abstract: An apparatus for folding and forming a continuous train of slide fastener coupling element bodies into a train of coupling elements includes a rotating forming disc against which the coupling element bodies are fed. The train is held on the forming disc for a portion of the disc rotation by a pair of flexible discs which clamp the leg portions of the bodies against the sides of the forming disc. After rotation through a portion of the forming disc circumference, the flexible discs are cammed outwardly and the train of coupling elements is pulled from the discs.

  • Patent number: 4322988
Abstract: A fluid braked planetary transmission is disclosed as including a driven sun gear and a plurality of meshing planet pinions carried in a housing and adapted to act as positive displacement pumps, all but one of the pinions also being adapted to act as positive displacement motors. The pump outlets are restricted by an automatic valve to resist rotation of the pinions whereby the housing is rotated, with controlled slippage, by rotation of the sun gear. Pressurized fluid is recirculated to the pinions acting as motors to recoup hydraulic energy which would otherwise be lost.

  • Patent number: 4312410
Abstract: In a rotary earth crumbler having a central shaft (1) with mounting discs (2) fast thereon and an annular series of U-shaped resilient stirrups (3), the leg portions of these stirrups are formed with an outwardly convex curved section (12) which extends into a fixing slot (11) in the mounting disc and is then locked therein by deformation of parts of the slot borders below the mid portion of the curved section, thereby narrowing said slot. The locking may easily be released when needed, viz. by bringing the slot borders back to the original shape.

  • Patent number: 4310961
Abstract: In performing operations on a continuous slide fastener chain at spaced locations therealong, the slide fastener chain is incrementally advanced to successively advance the spaced locations to an operating station. The chain is advanced from a reel which is braked only when a loop of maximum size is sensed in a loop forming mechanism. Tension is relieved in the slide fastener stringer by means of a continuously rotating capstan which will grip the slide fastener stringer to advance the chain and overcome inertia of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4306248
Abstract: Programmable power supplies are made responsive to beam-index and timing signals in order to automatically control the size and position of the display on a cathode ray tube. The high voltage power supply is also made programmable, responsive to video signal content, to reduce the energy stored in the high voltage circuits. Savings in energy consumption are also obtained by efficiently modulating the target screen of a beam-index type color cathode ray tube. Energy lost at the target screen is less than 10% compared to approximately 70% for a conventional color tube, an improvement factor of 7:1 or more. Taking advantage of the above features, a multi-color display apparatus is disclosed which employs dual excitation of a planar target screen to provide high resolution information in monochrome together with a wide range of colors for enhancement of contrast and for improved information discrimination.
