  • Patent number: 4834105
Abstract: A tonometer is described for measuring the intra-ocular pressure of an eye in which a pulse of fluid is projected towards the cornea of the eye to distort the corneal surface by the pressure of the pulse, the distortion in the corneal surface being detected by a change in the reflection of light directed onto the cornea. A fluid delivery system (36, 44, 48) leads to an outlet through which the fluid pulse is applied to the cornea, and a branch (54) leads to a pressure measuring chamber (52), containing a transducer (170) which produces an electrical signal whose value depends on the pressure in the branch. A flow restrictor is removably fitted in the branch (54) and signal processing means (176, 178, 180) (the gain and rise time of which are adjustable by (182) or (186)), is supplied with the output from the transducer. Adjustment of 182, and 186 enable the electrical signal output of the processing means to be adjusted, for calibration.

  • Patent number: 4833535
Abstract: An input image signal is divided into blocks each of 8 x 8 pixels, is subjected to cosine transform and is then converted to a signal of a spatial frequency region. After the cosine transform, the data is subjected to subtraction with respect to first to fourth types of data. Data of the same block of the one previous frame is used as the first data to provide a first difference between frames. Data of different blocks in the same frame is used as the second data to provide a second difference within the same frame. The third data is background image data and the fourth data is specific data. The minimum one of the first to fourth difference data is selected, and is then quantized and transmitted. Accordingly, a difference data involving a small amount of information to be transmitted can be selected for each block, thus always realizing a high transmission efficiency irrespective of the degree of image change.

  • Patent number: 4833539
Abstract: When the capacitance of the conductive columns of the line-transfer photosensitive device is higher than that of the photosensitive elements and of the read register, use is made of a reading circuit provided in the case of each conductive column with a plurality of charge storage capacitors separated by an MOS transistor. These MOS transistors operate in the saturating mode and pass signal charges derived from each conductive column from one capacitor to the next up to the read register. The storage capacitors have decreasing values as the distance from the read register becomes shorter. Transfer of the signal charges is accompanied by transfer of polarization charge quantities which decrease in value as the distance from the register becomes shorter. Once the transfer operations have been performed, these quantities of polarization charges are returned to their initial capacitors.

  • Patent number: 4833529
Abstract: A color separated image processing means includes a plurality of line sensors each receiving a different color-separated light image. The respective light images are converted into corresponding image signals which are respectively normalized with respect to respective reference signals. And, the normalized image signals are compared one from another by a color identifying circuit which supplies as its output a status signal indicating the presence or absence of an intended color for a pixel under examination. The status signal and the normalized image signals are supplied to a color separating circuit which supplies as its output either a first color image signal, which is obtained by carrying out a predetermined calculation using the normalized image signals, or a second color image signal, which corresponds to a predetermined one of the normalized image signals, depending on the state of the status signal.
