Abstract: A sports practice net assembly for stopping the flight of a projectile such as a golf ball, comprises a pair of side frame members with a central frame member disposed between them. The side frame members are preferably formed as closed loops. The central frame member has a pair of legs that extend across portions of the side frame members so that the lower ends of the legs and the lowermost portions of the side frame members support the sports practice net assembly on a generally horizontal surface. The first and second frame members are preferably are symmetrically arranged such that they are connected together at a rear portion of the sports practice net assembly and spaced apart at a front portion of the sports practice net assembly with an acute angle between their planes. The central frame member has first and second legs and an upper portion arranged to extend above the uppermost edges of the side frame members.
Abstract: An apparatus for distributing priming water equally to a multiplicity of sewer drain traps includes a hollow body member sealed with a top cap having a water inlet therethrough, the bottom of the body member provided with outlet fittings for connecting to a plurality of separate sewer line traps, each outlet fitting corresponding with a port communicating with the hollow interior of the body member, and a metering funnel member positioned in the hollow body member to receive water delivered from the water inlet, the metering funnel member arranged to deliver equal amounts of water received by the funnel member to each of the outlet ports and corresponding outlet fittings connected to a plurality of individual sewer line drain traps. Unused water outlets may be selectively plugged without adversely affecting continuous and even distribution of water received by the distribution apparatus to the remaining unplugged water outlets.
Abstract: A method and system for providing the foundation pad and stem wall structure for mobile homes includes the steps of excavating a building site to form a substantially level building area; erecting simple concrete formwork to define and contain the pouring of a concrete slab foundation pad; positioning and leveling a plurality of stem wall support blocks at predetermined positions about and spaced inwardly of the periphery of the concrete formwork, the support blocks having an upper surface height which is less than the height of the formwork and hence the thickness of the future concrete slab foundation pad; placing precast concrete stem wall sections on the level support blocks to form an upright perimeter wall; and pouring the concrete slab foundation pad defined by the concrete formwork to embed the support blocks and bottom edge portion of the precast stem walls in the foundation pad thereby positively and rigidly fixing the stem wall and foundation pad together when the poured concrete cures.
Abstract: A bearing adjustment and monitoring system is provided for a bearing mounted between a hub and a spindle, one of which is rotatable relative to the other and one of which has a threaded end section with traversing keyway and the other of which has an abutment for limiting inward movement of the bearing. A backing washer member is arranged to removably abut the bearing on the end opposite the abutment and has a key extending into the keyway to secure it against rotation, and a calibrated nut member has threads configured for threading onto the threaded end section. One of the backing washer member and calibrated nut member has a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings and the other of the backing washer member and calibrated nut member has a plurality of openings registering with the openings in the one member but spaced apart differently therefrom, whereby to provide vernier adjustment of rotation of the calibrated nut member.
Abstract: The compact rotary evaporative cooler of this invention includes a case containing a powered rotor mounting a partition that divides the case longitudinally into a wetted chamber and a nonwetted chamber. An annular array of elongated Perkins tubes is supported for rotation with the rotor and each Perkins tube extends through the partition, with the evaporation end section extending into the nonwetted chamber and the condensing end section extending into the wetted chamber. Each Perkins tube mounts a plurality of closely spaced heat conductive fins along its length, and a layer of porous metal is bonded to the entire inner surface of the evaporation section of the tube. A first inlet port introduces hot, dry outside air into the wetted chamber and a first outlet port vents the cooled but humidified air from the wetted chamber to the atmosphere or to a space to be conditioned.
Abstract: The ball throwing machine of this invention includes a vertical base plate mounting a wheel support plate for pivotal movement about a pivot axis which defines an arcuate slot in the base plate through which a clamp bolt extends from the wheel support plate. The wheel support plate mounts top and bottom pneumatic tired wheels for rotation to grip a ball between them and project it forward. An electrical control circuit affords adjustment of wheel rotational speed by a single rotary switch and also allows selection of a variety of types of pitches by a single rotary switch. The electrical circuit also provides for the setting of a differential rotational speed between the top and bottom wheels, for optimum quality of pitching control, and also provides for limiting the minimum and maximum wheel rotating speeds to achieve realistic pitching speed range.
