Abstract: A fixing apparatus including a fixing member for fixing developer image on a recording medium, and a separation member separating the recording medium from the fixing member to guide the recording medium in a delivery direction of the recording medium. The separation member includes a resin member, a metal member formed on a front side of the resin member, and an opening. In accordance with a preferred aspect of the fixing apparatus, when the developer image is fixed to the recording medium, the opening arranged at the separation member is formed to flow the gas around the fixing apparatus, thereby improving the printing quality of the printed images.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a metal melt containing at least one base metal and at least one further alloy constituent, wherein the production takes place in a melting vessel with slag covering the melt. In accordance with the invention, for increasing the content of the alloy constituent of the melt, an additive is fed to the melt which contains said alloy constituent at a content of ?5-10 percent by weight of the alloy constituent, ?5-10 percent by weight of melting metallurgically harmless volatile matter, ?5 percent by weight of sulfur and possibly fractions of further alloy constituents and/or slag formers. The additive is obtainable by ore leaching and by precipitation in the form of hydroxides and/or carbonates. The invention also relates to such an additive.

Abstract: A recycling furnace and method are provided for processing potentially explosive precious metal-containing materials having organic fractions that combust with great energy, the furnace including a switching facility for alternating operation of a burning-off chamber of the furnace between: (A) pyrolysis or carbonization under protective furnace gas in an atmosphere comprising maximally 6 wt-% oxygen, and (B) oxidative combustion of the organic fractions including carbon. The furnace has indirect heating and a control that determines the end of the pyrolysis or carbonization by a sensor and controls the switching facility to supply air or oxygen to the interior of the furnace. Steps (A) and (B) are carried out sequentially in the furnace chamber, wherein neither the batch is changed, nor the furnace is opened. After the end of step (A) is determined, step (B) proceeds right after the pyrolysis or carbonization by supplying air or oxygen.

Abstract: For production of a high-temperature sensor, in which a platinum resistance film is applied on a metal-oxide substrate, in particular sapphire or a ceramic plate, and a ceramic intermediate layer is laid on the resistance film, a self-supporting cover, in particular a ceramic or glass-ceramic cover, is bonded on the ceramic intermediate layer or a glass ceramic is mounted on the intermediate layer over its entire surface. Advantageously, the glass ceramic is electrically conductive or an ion conductor above 750° C. and is laid on up to the cathode of the resistance film up to beyond the intermediate layer. In particular, the cover is bonded with a metal-doped glass ceramic, which is laid on the cathode of the resistance film up to beyond the intermediate layer. Preferably, the electrically insulating intermediate layer is coated with a glass ceramic or a glass ceramic doped with metal, which coating has a resistance of at most one megaohm per square at 850° C. or above.
