  • Patent number: 5774831
Abstract: A neural network is used to process raw, uncorrected signals received by a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to obtain signal corrections which are used to correct the raw signals and obtain highly accurate position coordinate data. The neural network is trained with a particular GPS receiver. Once the neural network is trained, the weight matrices used for the particular GPS receiver may be used in different GPS receivers without requiring training of the different GPS receivers.

  • Patent number: 5774345
Abstract: A direct current output voltage is switched by two switching units and a current alternately changing directions is supplied to a primary winding of a transformer. An alternating voltage induced in a secondary winding of the transformer is rectified and smoothed, and is applied to a control circuit. A bidirectional switching unit is connected in parallel with the primary winding, and is controlled by the control circuit so that the primary winding is short-circuited by the bidirectional switching unit and an exciting energy of the transformer is held continuously.

  • Patent number: 5772578
Abstract: An endoscopic instrument is disclosed which comprises a shank with a bendable region. The bendability is achieved by almost complete circumferential transverse recesses which form segments bendable to each other. To increase the robustness of the shank, the segments, at their free ends, are provided with guides which engage a neighbouring recess and are adapted to the contour of the shank. Furthermore in the lateral regions of the shank there are incorporated positive locking elements, which prevent the overloading of the shank on over-extension.

  • Patent number: 5769575
Abstract: A drill press has a drive motor with output shaft that drives a chuck through a rotatable and vertically displaceable quill and a first drive coupling which includes a pair of pulleys, such as cone pulleys, and a belt extended between the cone pulleys. A rotary power take-off in the form of an additional pair of pulleys and a drive belt extracts rotary power from the drive coupling between the motor and the chuck and transfers it to an oscillatory motion device. The device includes a worm and worm gear and an eccentrically mounted arm which convert rotary motion from the rotary power take-off into a reciprocating linear motion. A lever is pivotally mounted to the device with one end engaged with the quill and a remaining, opposing end coupled with the arm. Reciprocation of the arm causes reciprocation of the lever which causes reciprocation of the quill, chuck and any tool held in the chuck. The arm is releasably engaged with and is coupled with the lever through a detent block.

  • Patent number: 5769128
Abstract: Multilayer fluid conduits are formed by adhering to a tubular outer surface of a metal pipe, a thermoplastic outer layer. The outer layer permits ends of the multilayer conduit to be joined together in leak-proof fluid conduit systems simply by adhering the conduit ends with compatible thermoplastic fittings. For fire protection systems, the preferred metal is steel, the preferred thermoplastic is CPVC and the preferred adhesive is heat activated. The adhesive coated metal pipe is preheated and the CPVC is extruded onto the outer surface of the heated metal pipe. Through the use of fire resistive CPVC, the multilayer conduit systems of the present invention can be installed in more severe fire threat areas than can existing, all plastic piping, including all CPVC piping systems. The conduit is assembled into systems on site simply by cutting and direct bonding with ordinary, all plastic fittings using appropriate bonding agents such as solvent based adhesives.

  • Patent number: 5768583
Abstract: A computer network has a printing device with an associated print server and print queue, each having a designated name. A user selects the printing device to be configured, and it is determined whether the user wishes to create a new print server name to be associated with the printing device. If the user wishes to do so, the user inputs a unique print server name. If the user does not wish to do so, the user selects a print server name from a compiled list of existing print server names. Thereafter, it is determined whether the user wishes to create a new print queue name to be associated with the print server name and the printing device. If the user wishes to create a new print queue name, a default print queue name is created and it is determined whether the user wishes to accept the created print queue name. If the user does not wish to accept the created print queue name, the user inputs a unique print queue name.

  • Patent number: 5767640
Abstract: In a brushless motor having a field permanent-magnet part (10), an altering signal producing circuit (22) produces altering signals which vary analogously with output signals of a position detector (21). Then, a first distributing circuit (31) and a second distributing circuit (32) distributes first and second output current signals of a command block 15 to first and second three-phase distributed current signals which vary analogously with the altering signals. The first and second distributed current signals are composed by a distributing composer (33) to produce three-phase distributed signals. A driving block (14) uses the three-phase distributed signals to produce driving signals for the three-phase coils.

  • Patent number: 5762533
Abstract: A toy vehicle has a chassis, two axles, two pairs of wheels and four identical wheel support housings. Each wheel is mounted on a separate end of a separate one of the two axles by one of the wheel support housings. The wheels are mounted for rotation on the housings, which are mounted off center on the axles so as to rotate eccentrically around the axles with the wheels. Wheels on either lateral side of the chassis are driven by separate propulsion motors driving separate gear trains in the chassis to propel the vehicle. Collars around the axles and pairs of gears within the wheel support housings themselves couple the wheels with the gear trains. The axles are rotated together through a third shaft driven by a separate accessory motor to vary the eccentric position of the wheel support housings and thereby alter the appearance and performance of the vehicle. Slip clutches with angled, mating faces, effectively coupling the axles with the third shaft.
