  • Patent number: 4666063
Abstract: An integral seal member is formed across the outlet in the neck of a tamper evident, thermoplastic container by adding to the thermoplastic material such as polyethylene, 3% to 16%, and preferably about 8% by weight, of an anhydrous solid inorganic particulate additive such as an anhydrous siliceous material or calcium carbonate so that the material becomes brittle enough that the seal member tears cleanly from the neck within the confines of an undercut at the interface between the seal member and neck. Torque is applied to the seal member by providing in the top of a conventional screw cap which forms a resealing closure for the container once opened, a recess with serrations which, when the cap is removed and turned upside down, engage serrations on the peripheral edge of the seal.

  • Patent number: 4660344
Abstract: The invention pertains to a cementitious slab and to apparatus and procedure for making it in such a manner that it may be used in an interconnected relation for providing a longitudinally extending side edging along a street or roadway. The slab product is made in a frame assembly that is positioned for turnover movement on a pair of stands. The frame assembly in its upper or mold space defining positioning has an integral enclosing side wall frame and a bottom wall, with one pair of side walls of the frame spaced from ends of the bottom wall and adapted to removably receive a pair of opposed end wall forming members for completing the mold cavity and providing the cementitious slab with tongue and groove portions. After the concrete or cement has been poured into the mold cavity, the opposed end wall members are removed and a pair of cross-ending support members are secured across a pair of the side walls to support the slab when it is turned-over or rotated 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4659127
Abstract: A rotatable hand tool for cleaning soil, stones, grass cuttings and like accumulated debris from a blind hole such as a memorial vase hole. The device comprises a cylindrical head portion having a transverse plate member fitted therein in spaced relation to a terminal end thereof. The plate member has a cutout section and carries a downwardly depending cutting edge along one side of the cutout and an upwardly curved section along the opposed side. A shaft with a transverse handle is affixed to the head portion to permit rotation of the head and cutting edge about a longitudinal axis of the device. A vertical barrier plate is affixed within the head member adjacent to the cutout section to prevent accumulated material dislodged by the cutting edge and entrained within the device from escaping from a storage reservoir defined by the sidewalls and plate member.

  • Patent number: 4644739
Abstract: An agricultural baler has a pick-up for picking up crop. The picked up crop is fed rearwardly from the pick-up into a compression chamber in which the crop is compressed into a high density bale by a compression member. The compression member is movable into the compression chamber to act on the crop and is then movable rearwardly when within the compression chamber to compress the crop against a stop to form the bale. The compression member is then movable outwardly of the compression chamber and, while disposed out of the compression chamber, is movable forwardly to return to the original position at the front of the compression chamber.

  • Patent number: 4644507
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining the location in the earth of sub-surface boundaries and/or the acoustic properties of sub-surface features substantially in the absence of the far field source wavelet and noise and with errors due to reflections of sound waves from the water being substantially compensated for. The invention uses point sound sources or arrays thereof at a first depth and then scales the energy, pressure and spacing of a similar source at a second depth to provide data which is used to obtain a seismic record.

  • Patent number: 4632494
Abstract: A self-propelled, linear-forwardly, relatively slow-moving irrigating apparatus has a main frame and master drive unit carrying a rotating, water-supplying, pipe-like, axle shaft that provides a side-extending wheel-line along which are spaced what may be termed power, booster and wheeled spray units that enable a large area of ground crop to be irrigated at one time. Longitudinally spaced-apart hydrants are provided along the length of the field that is to be irrigated to detachably receive a flexible water-supplying hose that is also detachably carried by the main frame. The apparatus has automatic means for maintaining the main frame and the wheel-line in an aligned forwardly advancing relation, for stopping forward movement when a serious obstruction is encountered and when the desired full extent of its advance along a side-extending anchored guide cable has been attained.

  • Patent number: 4624091
Abstract: A window sash member is composed of a pair of rail members and a pair of vertical sash members or stiles which may each include a framing element having a unique cross-sectional configuration. The sash member is so constructed as to permit replacement of glass panes without destroying the integrity of the frame. This is accomplished by removing a series of glazing strips. A hollow defined within the framing element provides the rails with a reinforcing member which has fins to minimize undesired thermal conduction across the frame. A downwardly open recess is defined within the framing element so as to permit it to be employed with a wide variety of window frame elements and adapting it for use in a wide variety of types of windows. The rails are preferably joined to the stiles by welding. The sash framing element is particularly adapted to be used with insulated windows having two or three panes of glass which define a thermally insulating dead air space therebetween.
