Abstract: A high speed optoelectronic subassembly in an optoelectronic package is disclosed that includes a dielectric support having a first electrical trace on a surface thereof and a dielectric member mounted on the surface of the support having a second electrical trace thereon. The support extends laterally a distance greater than the member to form a shelf. A dielectric step is positioned on the shelf abutting an end of the member and a laser is positioned on the shelf adjacent the step so as to be light accessible external to the subassembly. The laser and the step have surfaces equal in height and cooperate to provide a mounting platform. A resistive element is positioned on the mounting platform and electrically connected to the laser, the resistive element and laser being electrically externally accessible through the traces.
Abstract: A fluid heating system includes a fluid supply conduit, a hot fluid conduit, and a fluid heating tube assembly. The fluid heating tube assembly includes an inlet coupling coupled to the fluid supply conduit, an outlet coupling coupled to the hot fluid conduit, and at least one fluid heating tube coupled between the inlet coupling and the outlet coupling. The at least one fluid heating tube includes a tube formed of heat conducting material, a dielectric coating permanently bonded on an outer surface of the tube, and a resistive layer permanently bonded on the dielectric coating. A power distributor is coupled to the fluid heating tube assembly and coupleable to a power source. A switch is coupled between the power distributor and the fluid heating tube assembly to control current flow from the power distributor to the at least one fluid heating tube.
Abstract: An integrated circuit (10) includes a semiconductor substrate (11) that has a top surface (32) for forming a dielectric region (14) with a trench (40) and one or more adjacent cavities (16). A conductive material such as copper is disposed within the trench to produce an inductor (50). A top surface (49) of the inductor is substantially coplanar with an interconnect surface (31) of the semiconductor substrate, which facilitates connecting to the inductor with standard integrated circuit metallization (57).
Abstract: Disclosed is an airport light base including a light base container having an upper end with an inverted first flange having a first outer face, an opposing first inner face facing into the light base container, a continuous inwardly directed first edge bounding a first opening into the light base container, and ring segments affixed to the inner face of the first flange forming an inverted second flange under the first opening outboard of the first edge, the second flange for reception of an inset light fixture thereon and having a second outer face facing the first opening, an opposing second inner face facing into the light base container, and a continuous inwardly directed second edge bounding a second opening into the light base container, wherein the second opening is smaller than the first opening.
Abstract: A stimulation probe system includes a light integrating chamber with a reflecting inner surface. A plurality of LEDs is mounted to introduce emitted light into the light integrating chamber. Each LED produces a different wavelength of light with the plurality of LEDs producing a range of light wavelengths. A hand-held probe includes a circular opening in communication with the chamber positioned to supply light from the chamber to the surface of a body. Electrical circuitry is programmable to activate one or more of the LEDs to produce substantially any light wavelength in the range of light.
Abstract: In a welder wand including a welding tip attached to handle with an elongate, rigid conduit, the handle having a trigger for activating the welding tip, improvements therein including an optical light system attached to the welder wand comprising a light source mounted proximate to the welding tip and a switch mounted proximate to the handle, the switch operatively coupled to the light source for selectively activating and deactivating the light source, whereby the light source produces and directs light at the welding tip when activated by the switch.
Abstract: A highchair includes a seat attached to a frame having a first periphery defining a first footprint of the frame. Wheels are attached to the frame adjacent to the first periphery for providing wheeled movement of the frame over a surface. The first periphery of the frame bounds a receiving area underlying the frame within the first footprint of the frame. An arresting fixture is located in the receiving area and has a second periphery defining a second footprint of the arresting fixture within the first footprint of the frame. The arresting fixture is mounted to the frame for movement in reciprocal directions relative to the frame between a first position toward the frame, and a second position away from the frame for engagement with the surface for arresting the frame from wheeled movement over the surface.
Abstract: An annular beveled insert for enhancing the insertion of a plain end of a pipe into a mating belled end of a pipe, the insert including an annular main body portion having a substantially flat surface and a beveled opposed surface. The annular main body portion has inner and outer diameters approximately equal to inner and outer diameters, respectively, of the plain end of the pipe. An outwardly directed flange extends from the annular main body portion around a periphery and has an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the plain end of the pipe. The flange is sufficiently flexible so that it bends into an angle of approximately ninety degrees with the flat surface of the annular main body portion and aids the main body portion in masking the plain end of the pipe as it passes through the annular gasket.
Abstract: Roll-forming apparatus is provided together with a conveyor system utilized to transport raw dough rolls. A stop gate is movably positioned in the path of the rolls and, when placed in an interfering position, temporarily stops the rolls while the rolls maintain sliding contact with the conveyor. An imprinter is positioned above the conveyor and adjacent the stop gate. The stop gate is subsequently moved to a noninterfering position to permit the rolls to pass to the imprinting drums where the rolls are formed into a desired shape.
Abstract: A transport vehicle includes a bed formed in the rear end thereof. A base is seated on the bed and supports a load-bearing platform opposing the bed forming a storage space therebetween and an opening therebetween into the storage space at the rear end of the vehicle. A wheeled trailer is also provided, which is positionable in the storage space, is removable from the storage space, and has a hitched drawbar engagable to a tow bat secured to the rear of the vehicle.
