Abstract: A method for correcting sound for the hearing impaired includes analyzing an incoming sound into frequency channels and computing a group delay of each of the frequency channels that is expected in a healthy ear. A correction is defined as a percentage less than 100% of the group delay (GD) that a given impaired ear has compared to the group delay of the healthy ear. The amount of delay for the correction as a function of time is computed for each frequency channel, which delay is imposed on each frequency channel. The signal levels are scaled to adjust for audibility, after which the delayed and scaled signals from all frequency channels are combined into an outgoing sound.

Abstract: An RF filter casing includes an internal frame, first and second interface ends connected to the frame, and a protective casing connected to the internal frame and to the first and second interface ends. The internal frame includes a support structure for multiple bosses which support a circuit board and provide ground connection for at least one circuit on the circuit board.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method and system for determining packaging preference of a customer by identifying the customer using a customer identifier, and retrieving available packaging preference information using the customer identifier. In an embodiment, the customer's packaging preference information for a particular identified item is retrieved and graphically communicated. In another embodiment, customer packaging preference information based on a quantity of items is retrieved and graphically communicated. Customer packaging preference information based on both the identified items and the quantity of items may also be retrieved and graphically communicated.

Abstract: A tamper-resistant electrical ground block includes a ground block chassis that is looped over a port structure so that an installer has to use a security-type wrench to tighten or loosen coaxial cable connectors from the port structure. A ground clamp, one-piece with the chassis, accommodates a wide range of ground wire sizes.

Abstract: A reticle SMIF pod includes a dome having a plurality of latchkeys and a cassette having a plurality of primary engagement locations thereon into which the latchkeys are intended to engage when sealing the cassette to the dome. A plurality of secondary engagement locations are positioned in the cassette above the plurality of primary engagement locations to prevent the cassette from falling should the plurality of latchkeys fail to engage in the primary engagement locations.

Abstract: A filter for CATV applications includes a housing and two interface caps, each with an annular groove in a header portion thereof. A circuit board having a grounding bus along an edge of the board is disposed inside the housing. A split ring grounding clamp is disposed inside the housing such that a plurality of split rings are adjacent the grounding bus. The interface caps are press fitted into the ends of the housing, forcing the plurality of split rings into uniform contact with the grounding bus. The ends of the housing are then crimp-rolled such that a ridge is formed in the housing where the grooves in the headers are located in the interface caps, thereby sealing the ends of the housing to the interface caps.

Abstract: A translated text creator translates a text in which an unknown word is left in an original language representation without being translated, while known words are translated. Translated text created by the translated text creator is displayed. A link setter sets a link for performing a search for the unknown word in a search field of a selected Internet search engine which corresponds to a field of a subject matter of the original text.

Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes an internal compression ring that provides a weather seal for a wide range of coaxial cable diameter sizes. The compression ring includes a flexing portion with a defined recessed section designed to flex outwardly when in contact with a wide diameter coaxial cable. With larger cables, the wall flexes more, while with smaller cables the wall flexes less, if at all, providing a seal in all cases.

Abstract: A high speed data packet switch comprising input and output ports and a switch fabric to link each input port to each output port wherein each connection between input and output ports comprises a dynamic buffer memory for storing at least one data packet for a minimum specified storing time is disclosed. When a data packet is received through an input port, it is written in all individual dynamic memory buffers connected to this input port so as to have a copy of the incoming data packet ready to go through any output port to support unicast, multicast and broadcast traffic. Given the architecture of the data packet switch and its control algorithm, dynamic memory buffers neither need to be refreshed nor their contents have to be restored after reading.

Abstract: A protective cap includes first and second sealing sections, with the first section fitting into the end of a port terminator which contains a center conductor pin and the second section fitting into the end of the port terminator which contains a deep bore which accommodates a security tool used to lock and unlock the port terminator from a port. The protective cap can thus be used to protect the center conductor pin during shipping and then be used to cap the bore of the port terminator upon installation of the terminator in a multiport tap.

Abstract: A compression connector for a coaxial cable includes a unitary plastic body with a post connected inside the plastic body and a nut connected to the post. An O-ring seals the connection between the nut and the plastic body. A compression ring is connected to an outside of the plastic body. A reinforcing shield is also connected to the outside of the plastic body. The reinforcing shield serves to reinforce the plastic body when the compression ring is moved to its compressed position, so that softer plastics can be used for the plastic body. The reinforcing shield and compression ring also protect the entire outside of the plastic body from the environment.

Abstract: An RF filter which includes a circuit board connected to an internal frame has two end connectors connected to the frame, with a protective casing connected to the internal frame and the end connectors. Insulators in each end connector are shaped to form air pockets between the air pockets and the outer conductor portion of the end connectors. A plurality of O-rings are disposed in various locations on the insulators to prevent moisture from entering the filter. The RF filter passes the SCTE Red Dye Test and limits return loss to better than negative 20 dB.

Abstract: A chip package is formed which has an array of leads, wherein successive leads are staggered in all three dimensions (X, Y, and Z) relative to one another to permit a large number of leads available in a confined space while maintaining the minimum separation necessary between adjacent leads. The leads are formed by placing asymmetric top and bottom masks on a lead frame, and partially etching the top of the lead frame, while partially and over etching the bottom of the lead frame. Although the resulting leads are staggered in three dimensions, no additional processing steps are needed beyond those used to fabricate conventional packages.

Abstract: A data transmission system comprising a packet switch module interconnecting LAN adapters, a plurality of input and output ports connected to the LAN adapters such that each pair of input and output ports defines a crosspoint within the switch module, and a memory block located at each crosspoint of the switch module for storing at least one data packet. At each clock time, a scheduler causes a data packet stored in a memory block, among all memory blocks corresponding to a given output port, to be transferred to that output port.

Abstract: A security shield for a coaxial cable interconnection between a male connector and a female connector includes a gasket having a cross-section fitted to an annular shoulder of the security shield. When the security shield is fitted onto the coaxial cable interconnection, the gasket provides a seal between the security shield, the male connector, and the female connector. In an alternative embodiment, two gaskets are used which are fitted onto different parts of the annular shoulder of the security shield.

Abstract: A net-aware telephone switch enabling a user to receive or send calls from/to both the Internet and the PSTN comprises a two-line switch connecting with the communication terminal for switching the outgoing call between IP call mode and PSTN call mode; a CPU, operated for sending out an IP call and receiving an IP call to/from the outside; a storage, for storing programs and data required for sending out or receiving the IP call; a connector for connecting the net-aware telephone switch with the Internet; and a bus for connecting all the above components with each other and for transferring data among them.

Abstract: A hybrid coupling nut for a cable connector includes a plurality of fingers on a friction sleeve portion of the nut with a plurality of threads adjacent the fingers inside the nut. An annular knurled portion on the nut adjacent the fingers on the outside of the nut assist a user in connecting the nut to an RF port. Each finger includes a beveled edge. The nut also includes an annular flange for rotatably connecting the coupling nut to the cable connector.

Abstract: An insulated cable attachment device, made of an electrically insulating material, is connectable to a termination connector which is in turn connectable to a tap port for a cable television system. When an installer disconnects service to a subscriber's house, the signal is shut down to the tap port to which the subscriber drop cable is connected. The drop cable is disconnected from the tap port and a terminator connector is connected in its place on the tap port. The installer then installs the insulated cable attachment device onto the terminator connector before connecting the drop cable to the insulated cable attachment device, thereby preventing any difference in ground potentials between the terminal connector and the drop cable from being transmitted to the end of the drop cable near the house.

Abstract: An interposer comprising a non-conductive carrier sheet with a pre-arranged pattern of conductive interconnect members positioned therethrough and formed from an elastomeric thermoplastic with suspended spherical and non-spherical conductive particles. The non-spherical conductive particles of the present invention are positioned substantially perpendicularly to and partially through the contact faces of the interconnect member, thereby resulting in higher conductivity and efficiency. The interposer is formed by a mold comprising two sections with first and second sets of vias formed in the first and second mold sections, respectively, which permit the injected elastomer mixture to flow completely through the mold cavity and thereby aligns the non-spherical conductive particles.
