  • Patent number: 8341800
Abstract: A break-away wiper arm assembly which allows a vehicle escape window to be opened rapidly without any delays or undue forces to impede the escape of the vehicle crew. The invention uses a two piece coupling held together using a retaining ring. As the window is pushed open, the window frame pushes against the wiper arm which overcomes the retaining ring retention force allowing the wiper arm to break away, clearing the area in front of the window for free motion of the window and the unimpeded exit of vehicle occupants.

  • Patent number: 8336620
Abstract: A method for determining integrity of annular seals in wellbores. In an embodiment, two wellbores are selected that extend through a common geological formation which is capable of sealing against casing sections located in the wellbores. A pressure test is typically carried out in a first of the wellbores to check that the formation provides an effective seal, and a logging tool is typically run to obtain well log data from which can be derived a characteristic response that is associated with the formation providing an effective annular seal around the casing section in the first wellbore. A logging tool may then be run in the second of the wellbores to obtain a second set of well log data, which are comparable with the characteristic response to determine whether the formation provides an effective annular seal in the second wellbore.

  • Patent number: 8337687
Abstract: A structured chromium solids particles layer with a network of cracks in which solids particles are embedded, wherein the crack density is 10-250 per mm, the particle size of the solids particles lies in the range of from 0.01-10 ?m, the proportion of solids particles in the overall layer is 1-30 vol.-% and the chromium solids particles layer has a microstructure with depressions in the surface of the layer, wherein the proportion of the surface area accounted for by the depressions is 5-80%. A method for producing the structured chromium solids particles layer on a workpiece includes introducing the workpiece into an electrolyte containing a Cr(VI) compound and electrolytically depositing a chromium layer at a current density of 20-100 A/dm2 and a current yield of 12% or less and then reversing the current direction wherein the solid particles are embedded within the network of cracks.

  • Patent number: 8340402
Abstract: A device for detecting a plant includes a two-dimensional camera for detecting a two-dimensional image of a plant leaf having a high two-dimensional resolution, and a three-dimensional camera for detecting a three-dimensional image of the plant leaf having a high three-dimensional resolution. The two-dimensional camera is a conventional high-resolution color camera, for example, and the three-dimensional camera is a TOF camera, for example. A processor for merging the two-dimensional image and the three-dimensional image creates a three-dimensional result representation having a higher resolution than the three-dimensional image of the 3D camera, which may include, among other things, the border of a leaf. The three-dimensional result representation serves to characterize a plant leaf, such as to calculate the surface area of the leaf, the alignment of the leaf, or serves to identify the leaf.

  • Patent number: 8331890
Abstract: A FM receiver comprises an IF filter, a demodulator and a decoder. The IF filter generates an RSSI and a FM modulated signal in response to a FM signal. The demodulator comprises a duty-to-voltage amplifier for amplifying a peak of a MPX signal. The duty-to-voltage amplifier comprises a current source, a switch and a current splitter. The current source generates a current. The switch controls a flow of the first current in response to a PWM signal. The current splitter splits the flow of the current into a sub-flow in response to the RSSI. The peak of the MPX signal is proportional to the sub-flow. The decoder receives the MPX signal to generate an audio signal to play sound.
