    Abstract: A protective molding for an edge of a hinged motor vehicle part, characterized in that the molding has a substantially V-shape cross sectional configuration and includes a guide leg terminating along one longitudinal side in an end portion, and a mounting leg for mounting on the vehicle part, the mounting leg being provided along the other longitudinal side of the guide leg, the guide leg defining a contact area adopted to contact an inner surface of the vehicle part adjacent said edge, and in that the end portion of the guide leg curves outwardly with respect to said V-shape configuration of the molding in a hook-shape adapted to surround the edge of the vehicle part for protecting said edge and wherein a portion of the outwardly curved, hook-shaped end portion of the guide leg adapted to surround said edge is tapered.

    Abstract: An electrically driven rail or track bound vehicle which can be supplied with electrical power from an overhead wire. The vehicle includes a current collector carrying at least one bow trolley, with the current collector being adjustable to varying levels. A width of the bow trolley is automatically variable in such a manner that, with the current collector being adjusted to a low level, the bow trolley is narrow and with the current collector being adjusted to a high level, the bow trolley has a wide width. The width of the bow trolley is variable continuously with height variations of the current collector.

    Abstract: A cross country ski binding has a support element attachable directly to a ski for engaging a forwardly extending boot sole extension, and is also provided with latching mechanism for latching the sole extension to the supporting element, under imposition of spring forces. The cross country ski binding may include spring biased detent members engageable into detent provisions provided directly on the boot sole extension, such that the forward part of the ski boot is automatically locked in position upon insertion of the boot sole extension into the support element. Preferred embodiments of the invention include those accommodating an axial movement of the boot sole extension into the support element and latching mechanism, as well as embodiments wherein the boot sole extension is placed downwardly over a pivot pin forming part of the holding mechanism. Also, certain embodiments of the invention include additional locking levers for locking the latching mechanism in a latched position.

    Abstract: A cover for passenger car trunks that are accessible through a rear wheel or tailgate that is movable about a horizontal hinge axis, said cover being made with elastic material and attached to a trunk body portion and the rear lid. The attachment of the cover to the trunk body portion and lid is achieved by elastic members that are spaced from each other on the cover and are located in hollow elements that are connected to the cover and extend perpendicularly to a vehicle longitudinal axis. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the hollow body members are tubes about which the cover is wrapped and through which elastic cords pass or within which they are fixed, the elastic cords being connected by releasable snap lock fasteners to the body and lid, respectively.

    Abstract: A method for using mass-produced light-emitting diodes of a predetermined luminance in instruments requiring a precise luminance value and a light-emitting diode arrangement for adapting such mass-produced light emitting diodes to such instruments. The above-noted method includes the steps of disposing an LED in a lengthwise adjustable manner within a sleeve, closing the sleeve with a light diffusing disc at an end thereof from which the light from the LED is intended to merge and displacing the LED within the sleeve in such a manner that a precisely defined luminance appears at the diffused disc. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the apparatus, a tubular sleeve of an elastic plastic material is provided with mounting threads at one end thereof for mounting same within a cap with a light-diffusing disc located between the threaded end of the sleeve and the cap. Additionally, the sleeve is provided with longitudinally extending beads within which electrical connectors of the LED can be mounted.

    Abstract: A process for exposing silicon crystals on the surface of an aluminum alloy of high silicon content and with undissolved silicon particles, wherein the aluminum alloy is connected as the cathode in an electrolyte containing an aqueous alkali nitrate solution which is at least 0.01 molar with respect to the nitrate ions and is subjected to electrolysis with a minimum current density of 0.5 A/dm.sup.2 to remove aluminum from the alloy surface without removing silicon crystals. The electrolyte can also contain at least 0.005 mol/l fluoride ions and 0.05 mol/l-14 mol/l nitrite ions to suppress generation of hydrogen at the cathode and oxygen at the anode, respectively.

    Abstract: A form of electrical heating device, which is particularly applicable to hair driers but may also be useful in fan heaters or other electrical heaters for gaseous or other fluid media, comprises an insulating support plate around which a resistance heating wire is helically coiled with neighbouring turns of the coil offset to achieve improved heat exchange to the medium flowing over it and while allowing the device to be produced inexpensively and in a simple and trouble-free manner. The centers of the respective groups of turns which are similarly offset may lie on parallel lines or lines which converge along the length of the device. There may be two such groups or more, four for example. The turns are located in suitably dimensioned slots in the edges of the support plate; the wire may be bent into meander or sinuous form, in which case it can be made to grip the support plate in the region of the slots.
