Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the continuous boiling of wort, comprising feeding the unboiled wort to a wort heater, wherein it is heated to a temperature between 75 and 125.degree. C., introducing the heated wort in a plug flow reactor, preferably a rotating disc holding column, followed by treating the wort obtained from said reactor in countercurrent with steam in a stripping column.

Abstract: An eddy current probe for the nondestructive testing of electrically conductive material parts comprises four identical active elements (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d), at lease in pairs, whose centers are arranged in accordance with a square or a quadrilateral, whose diagonals intersect at right angles and have an intersection point located in the center of one of them. The major axes (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) of said elements are oriented perpendicular to the plane of the square or intersect at the same point on the normal to the center of the square. The active elements are generally windings. Preferably, opposite windings (10a, 10c and 10b, 10d) of the square are connected pairwise in series, so as to produce magnetic fields, which are summated according to the diagonals of the square and the two pairs are connected to one another according to a differential arrangement or circuit.
Abstract: Cylinder (1) for a two-stroke combustion engine intended for a handheld working tool, preferrably a chain saw. The exhaust port's (3) mouth (17) inside the cylinder as well as the cylinder's transfer ports (5, 6, 7, 8) are arranged symmetrically around a common symmetry plane (9) which follows the cylinder's symmetry axis (10). At the exhaust port's (3) mouth (11) on the outside of the cylinder a fastening plane (12) with fastening holes (13) is embodied for a directly mounted muffler, and the fastening plane (12) is essentially perpendicular to the symmetry plane (9), and the exhaust port is angled sideways in relation to the symmetry plane (9) and its mouth (11) is shifted sideways in relation to the symmetry plane (9).
Abstract: A submersible unit having thrusters for changing a diving position based on a total work quantity, which is the sum of a first work quantity and a second work quantity. A proportional controller generates and outputs the first work quantity based on a difference between a position quantity indicating a desired target diving position and a diving position. A network controller uses a neural network data processing system to learn movement characteristics of the submersible unit based on the first work quantity and a diving position sampled over a plurality of times. The network controller generates a second work quantity using control coupling coefficients learned by minimizing an evaluation quantity determined from a difference between the learned movement characteristics and target movement characteristic values.

An absorbing mass (14) is disposed within the fuel container for absorbing liquid fuel. The upwardly extending portion (18) of the net (17) has an area which is less than an area of the opening (15), thereby creating a passage (23) between the inner edge of the cover and the upwardly extending portion (18) of the net through which fuel may flow into the container.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making a payment using an account manager or kiosk, the process guaranteeing the payment of the supplier and the anonymity of the customer. A customer (U) withdraws from his bank (B) a sum in the form of "blind" electronic coins or cash, deposits the latter in one or more anonymous accounts in a kiosk (K) and finally uses said account or accounts for paying suppliers of goods or services (SA). The invention has application to streamline and voice telepayment.
Abstract: An improved valve mounting assembly for a hermetically sealed compressor. The valve mounting assembly includes a valve, a damper, and a retention yoke. The valve, valve damper, and retention yoke cooperate to provide a valve mounting arrangement having high efficiency and low noise. The retention yoke includes an extension which is received between a yoke attachment and a valve plate. The extension is formed from a vibration attenuating material and reduces the communication of vibrations from the valve and valve plate to the yoke attachment. The retention yoke retains the valve and damper in position, and serves as a bumper to back up the damper and limit movement of the damper and valve.
Abstract: A steam iron with spray mist includes a water tank for storing water, a vaporizing chamber for vaporizing water in the water tank so as to generate steam, a base for forming the vaporizing chamber, a heater for heating the base, a base cover for covering an upside of the base, a first passage for guiding water from the water tank into the vaporizing chamber, a mixing chamber in which water in the water tank is formed into fine particles by the action of flow velocity of steam generated in the vaporizing chamber, a second passage for guiding water from the water tank into the mixing chamber, a steam passage for guiding steam from the vaporizing chamber into the mixing chamber, and a spray nozzle for spraying water from the mixing chamber by the action of steam so that the sprayed water can be sent out from an upper portion of the base to the front.

Abstract: A groove having a helix angle of zero or more is formed in the plunger of a diesel injector pump, the groove extending along and in association with the port-closing edge of the plunger and along at least a portion of the length of such port-closing edge. The groove interacts with the port that is associated with the port-closing edge to provide, in each of a succession of plunger strokes, initial fuel injection at feed rates lower than those which would obtain in the absence of the groove but without any loss of initial injection pressure, or without substantial loss of such pressure.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for charging a battery which is operable to normally charge the battery at a first state of charge setting, to determine when the battery has been undercharged a predetermined number of times, and to charge the battery at a second state of charge setting after the battery is undercharged the predetermined number of times. The second state of charge setting is greater than the first state of charge setting. The method includes determining when the state of charge of the battery is below a predetermined level, charging the battery at the first state of charge setting, calculating a number of charging times when the battery was charged below the predetermined level after the last time the battery was charged at the predetermined level, and charging the battery with a second state of second charge setting when the calculated number of charging times equals a predetermined number.
Abstract: An outdoor sign construction comprising an inverted U-shaped wire frame and a rectangular corrugated plastic face panel. The sign face panel is retained on a horizontal header section of the frame between vertical frame legs by a resilient extruded plastic channel assembled around the header and out the top edge of the panel. The panel can be allowed to swing on the frame header or can be fixed against such movement by optional brackets. A secondary header and auxiliary sign panel can be assembled on the frame.

Abstract: A stuffed figure is provided having a detailed plastic face secured to a soft plush head. The soft plush head is formed of a fabric material and is filled with stuffing material. The plastic face includes a face body, a pair of artificial eyes, and a plurality of locking washers. A front side of the face body is contoured to form a mouth, a nose, and eye sockets. A face locking stem is integral with the face body and rearwardly extends from a rear side thereof and through the fabric material. The artificial eyes are each located in a separate one of the eye sockets and may be integral or non-integral with the face body. Each of the artificial eyes has an eye locking stem integral therewith which rearwardly extends therefrom and through the fabric material. The locking washers cooperate with the face locking stem and the eye locking stems to clamp the fabric material between the plurality of locking washers and the rear side of the face body to secure the plastic face to the soft plush head.

Abstract: An awning assembly for mounting to a curved wall. The awning assembly includes a canopy secured to a roller assembly. The roller assembly is supported by a pair of extensible support arms and a pair of extensible rafters. Each of the support arms includes upper and lower arms locked together by a locking assembly. Inner ends of the rafter are pivotably connected to upper brackets adapted for mounting to the wall. Outer ends of the rafters are slidably and pivotably connected to the support arms. The support arms and the rafters are curved so as to conform to the wall when the awning assembly is in a stored position. Pins extending from the upper brackets space the support arms from the wall when the awning assembly is in the stored position.
Abstract: A diesel unit injector of the END type is provided with a sac whose center of volume is located below the center of radius of the sac bottom. The bottom-most parts of the annular cavity which is above the seat for the nozzle valve are shaped to provide compensatory structural reinforcement.
