Abstract: A hearing device (1) and a method to operate a hearing device (1), the method comprising the steps of selecting a hearing program from a set of hearing programs, the set comprising at least two hearing programs, one of which is a mute hearing program being defined by applying no or only a reduced signal to a receiver of the hearing device (1), operating the hearing device (1) in the mute hearing program after it has been activated, monitoring an input signal to the hearing device (1), selecting another hearing program than the mute hearing program after a predefined activity has been detected in the input signal, and operating the hearing device (1) according to the selected hearing program.
Abstract: A switch valve for use in an extracorporeal blood flow circuit comprises a valve housing having a chamber, four openings communicating with the chamber, and a valve member located in the valve chamber. A first opening is to be connected to a patient via an arterial cannula, a second opening is to be connected to a patient via an venous cannula, a third opening is to be connected to a first inlet/outlet of a blood treatment device, and a fourth opening is to be connected to a second inlet/outlet of a blood treatment device. The valve member is movable within the valve housing to fluidly connect the first opening to either the third or the fourth opening and to fluidly connect the second opening to either the third or the fourth opening. The width of the valve member is smaller than a peripheral dimension of the openings.

A liquid substance supplying device for supplying a liquid substance reserved in a vertically elongated container 30 has a configuration in which a bottom part of a container holder 15 for holding the container inserted through an insertion hole provided on a top side of a holder main body 16 is pivoted on a base bracket 14 with a hinge portion 19 to support the container holder 15 such that it can assume either upright attitude or tilted attitude and in which the container holder 15 is fixed in the upright attitude by a holder fixing mechanism 20. As a result, the container holder 15 can be mounted and removed to and from the holder main body 16 in the tilted state at the time of a container replacing operation, which allows high operability to be maintained even in handling a large-capacity container having a great height dimension.
Abstract: Displacers are used in production of concrete surfaces. The displacers are embodied, for example, as plastic balls or plastic shells and are locked in lattices that are open on one side, preferably downwardly. The modules can then be pressed into a first or second concrete layer that can already contain a first reinforcement mesh. The thus produced semi-finished product can then be covered with a concrete mass during the subsequent finishing process.

Abstract: A movable contact element including a lower sheet having a bottom surface, to which a substantially dome-shaped movable contact is bonded, is provided. The movable contact is made of a conductive thin metal plate, and an upper sheet with a light reflection property is disposed above the lower sheet. A space is formed between the lower sheet and the upper sheet, and a light transmitting portion is provided at the upper sheet. Light of a light emitting element from the side surface of the sheet propagates through the space between the upper sheet and the lower sheet with a light reflection property, while being reflected in a vertical direction, and lighting is performed through the light transmitting portions. Such a structure can perform lighting without unevenness by using one or two light emitting elements.

Abstract: A content-addressable random access memory having magnetic tunnel junction-based memory cells and methods for making and using same. The magnetic tunnel junction has first and second magnetic layers and can act as a data store and a data sense. Within each cell, registered data is written by setting a magnetic orientation of the first magnetic layer in the magnetic tunnel junction via current pulses in one or more current lines. Input data for comparison with the registered data can be similarly set through the magnetic orientation of the second magnetic layer via the current lines. The data sense is performed by measuring cell resistance, which depends upon the relative magnetic orientation of the magnetic layers. Since data storage, data input, and data sense are integrated into one cell, the memory combines higher densities with non-volatility. The memory can support high speed, reduced power consumption, and data masking.

Abstract: A surgical clip assembly which includes a pair of generally linear compression elements for securing tissue between them and for applying to the secured tissue a compression force. The clip assembly has an initial, open position in which the linear compression elements may be positioned about tissue to be secured between them. The assembly also has a final, closed position where the compression elements are substantially parallel to each other, applying a compressive force to the secured tissue. The clip assembly also includes a force means disposed between the pair of compression elements and operative to transmit operational forces between them.
