Abstract: A composition and method for inducing bone growth and healing is provided. The composition is useful for promoting new bone synthesis, and to enhance the mechanical stability and longevity of orthopaedic implants. The composition includes a bone endogenous material which is used as raw material for the body's natural osteogenic mechanism to synthesize new bone. The composition is applied in a flow phase and then undergoes a phase change to a congealed phase. The resulting material has a dual mode porosity system, having a first order porosity to accommodate and promote convective diffusion of nutrient species into and through the material, and a second order porosity to accommodate osteoblastic migration therein without the need for osteoclastic resorption.

Abstract: An ignition containment system is provided for absorption refrigeration systems. The system encloses the burner area to contain an inadvertent ignition of gases that may have escaped from the refrigerant tubing or elsewhere. By containing a potential fire or vapor leak, the system can substantially mitigate the spread of a fire to other nearby combustible materials, further damage to the appliance, and fire or smoke damage to property or materials beyond the appliance. The ignition containment system can also include an electrical detection device that can indicate an abnormal rise in temperature, a presence of foreign material, or the presence of ignitable gases in the contained or encapsulated ignition chamber. Detection of any one of the above can trigger a termination of the ignition source.

Abstract: For the visualization of the hearing ability or hearing recognition respectively of a person with or without a hearing device at least one hearing dimension as for instance the loudness recognition is being made visible by means of a picture by varying at least one picture parameter such as for instance the brightness. The visualization can also be achieved by fade-in or fade-out of individual objects or a plurality of objects within a picture.
Abstract: A ratcheting tie-down device is provided that includes a main body portion, a hub rotatable relative to the main body portion about an axis, a webbing windable about the hub, and means for attaching at least one end of the webbing to an object. The device further includes means for biasing winding of webbing, a ratchet wheel having a plurality of ratchet teeth, a lock member resiliently biased into locking engagement with at least one ratchet tooth to inhibit unwinding of the webbing about the hub, and a lever arm rotatable about the axis for moving the ratchet wheel and wind the webbing. In one example, the device a rotational support element is provided to maintain orientation of the hub such that it can freely rotate. In another example, means for braking is provided to inhibit winding of at least some portion of the webbing about the hub.
Abstract: A context of media content is represented by context description data having a hierarchical stratum where the lowest hierarchical layer is formed from an element representing a segment of media content which corresponds to a change between scenes of video data or a change in audible tones. A score relating to the context is appended, as an attribute, to individual elements in the lowest hierarchical layer. In a selection step of a data processing method, the context of the media content is expressed, and one or a plurality of scenes of the media content is or are selected on the basis of the score of the context description data.
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a bearing support, particularly for a fan casing. The method includes the step of placing a bearing assembly in correspondence to a matrix die of an injection mold. The method further includes the step of abutting a punch of the injection mold on the bearing assembly to coaxially align and axially clamp the bearing assembly. The method further includes the step of injecting a plastic material into the mold to form an assembly sheath over-injected on outer surfaces of the bearing assembly.

Abstract: A network controller for facilitating roaming of a mobile wireless communications device between access points communicates with at least one access point over a wired network which, in turn, communicate with a mobile wireless communications device over a wireless network. The network controller includes a data processing system including a protocol stack that facilitates a communication session between the mobile device and a network device on the wired network, and a session table identifying session information for each said communication session. The session information identifies the current access point with which the mobile device is currently associated. The protocol stack updates the session table from session information received from the current access point, maintains a first virtual circuit with the network device, maintains a second virtual circuit with the current access point, and bridges communication between the virtual circuits in accordance with the session information.
Abstract: A laminated panel adapted to form a covering for a wall, floor or ceiling has an outer surface and sides which are connected to an adjacent panel. The panel has a recess in the outer surface at the transition to a side, and a moisture-repellent layer on the wall of the recess. When two panels are connected the moisture-repellent layers come together at the recesses, to form a joint which is protected from moisture.
Abstract: To clean a print head of an ink jet printer, an ink gun is connected to an ink chamber, a solvent chamber, a vacuum source, and an ink collection gutter, which is capable of being connected in a controlled manner to a vacuum source. During cleaning, an interruption of a hydraulic connection between the gun and the ink chamber is ordered. Next, the gun is connected to the vacuum source. Finally, the solvent chamber is hydraulically connected to the vacuum source via a conduit which includes the ink gun.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular refrigeration unit for a refrigeration appliance, and to a process for assembling the modular refrigeration unit to a cabinet of a refrigeration appliance. A modular refrigeration unit (3) includes a base plate (6) supporting a condensing assembly (7), which comprises condensing means (8) and a compressor (9), and an evaporating assembly (10) comprising an evaporator (11); the condensing assembly and the evaporating assembly are operatively interconnected. The evaporating assembly (10) is arranged, in use, vertically spaced apart and above the compressor (9); the evaporating assembly (10) is supported by support means (24) vertically extending from the base plate (6); insulating means (16) separate the evaporating assembly (10) from the condensing assembly (7, 107).

Abstract: For reducing wind noise effects in a hearing instrument, a converted acoustic signal is processed in a number of frequency bands, a low frequency band of which is chosen to be a master band. A wind noise attenuation value is determined in each frequency band, based on a signal level in the frequency band concerned and on a signal level in the master band. A further wind noise reducing effect may be achieved in hearing instruments with at least two microphones where in the presence of wind noise the instrument may be switched from a directional mode to a omnidirectional mode in which an average of the output signals of the two microphones is used as signal. In single microphone hearing instruments, the microphone signal and a delayed version of this signal are used to improve wind noise detection and reduction.
Abstract: A clip for attaching the end of a grid tee to a wall angle. The clip, in various forms, is arranged to frictionally lock between the hem of the horizontal leg of the wall angle and the vertical leg. The clip, typically, has a pair of opposed open hems forming channels in which the flange of the tee end is received to join the tee to the clip. The clip can be elongated horizontally to accommodate movement of the grid during seismic activity. The clip can be used to trim the edges of a ceiling island and can be made to accommodate angular intersections of the grid with a wall or island edge.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes: a center line determination section which determines a center line of a tubular tissue based on volume data; a direction vector determination section which determines a direction vector; a curved surface determination section which determines a curved surface formed by a set of plural lines, each of the plural lines passing through a certain point on the center line and being parallel with the direction vector; a visualizing section which visualizes the tubular tissue based on the volume data on the curved surface; and a tangent vector determination section which determines a tangent vector of the center line at an attention point on the center line. The direction vector determination section rotates the direction vector such that an angle formed between the direction vector and the tangent vector is maintained, and the rotated direction vector will be a new curved surface.
