Abstract: The present invention features a liquid crystal display device including a printed circuit board, PCB, substrate composed of non-conductive material and having a front surface and having an opposing back surface that contains electrical circuitry and is located near the back of the display device. A liquid crystal display is disposed on the front PCB substrate surface and includes first and second electrode layers and a dispersion layer disposed between the first and second electrode layers. The dispersion layer includes liquid crystal (e.g., cholesteric liquid crystal) dispersed in a polymer matrix. Electrical through-conductors extend between the front substrate surface and the back substrate surface. The through-conductors are in electrical contact with the first and second electrode layers. Drive electronics are disposed on the PCB substrate and are adapted to apply voltage pulses to the first and second electrodes effective to form images on the liquid crystal display.
Abstract: An edge trim system for suspended island ceilings in which a one-piece clip couples standard grid tees to standard wall molding. The clip is arranged to snap onto the grid tees where the ceiling boundary is along a line of the grid and to be screw fastened onto a tee where the ceiling boundary is other than along the grid. The clip is arranged to snap into and retain the molding in place without fasteners.
Abstract: A lamp is provided having an arctube having a light-transmitting envelope. The arctube is surrounded by a gaseous medium confined by a containment envelope such as a hermetic shroud. The gaseous medium is preferably He or H2 or Ne or another gas whose thermal conductivity is greater than that of N2 at 800° C., or a mixture thereof, to help cool the arctube. The inside and/or outside of the shroud may be coated with a diffusion barrier. To help cool the hot spot of the arctube the gap between the shroud and the envelope can be made small, the portion of the shroud wall near the arc can be thickened, the arctube can be offset above the longitudinal axis of the shroud, and the return lead of the arctube can be located between the shroud and the arctube.

Abstract: A control system includes a zero crossing detecting circuit for detecting a zero crossing of an AC signal. The circuit includes a transformer having a primary portion and a secondary portion. The primary portion receives the AC signal. The secondary portion comprises first and second terminals. The first terminal is biased at a first DC voltage level. An output switch is operatively connected to the second terminal and has an on state and an off state. The output switch selectively activates an output signal of the zero crossing detecting circuit according to an activation voltage level sensed by the output switch and corresponding to the zero crossing. While in the off state, the output switch is biased at a second DC voltage level. A voltage difference between the first and second DC voltage levels substantially equals the activation voltage level. A controller monitors the output signal and controls an operation based on the output signal.
Abstract: An accessory device for a plurality of servers, the servers allocating client primary resource requests to primary resources, each server having a primary queue, the device including: a controller; a plurality of server communication links adapted to communicate with a respective server and to intercept client primary resource requests in response to the controller; an auxiliary queue, the device storing the intercepted requests in the auxiliary queue in response to the controller; and a secondary resource communication link adapted to communicate with at least one secondary resource. The device allocates secondary resource requests to at least one secondary resource in response to the controller. The device routes the intercepted requests to a selected server via at least one of the server communication links in response to a desired condition.

Abstract: A random access memory microelectronic device, comprising a plurality of cells comprising respectively: a plurality of transistors forming a bistable, a first storage node and a second storage node, a first double gate access transistor to the first storage node and a second double gate access transistor to the second storage node, a first gate of the first access transistor and a first gate of the second access transistor being linked to a first word line, a second gate of the first access transistor and a second gate of the second access transistor being linked to a second word line, the device being moreover equipped: with a reference memory cell provided to deliver a bias potential intended to be applied to one of the respective word lines of one or several given cells of said plurality of cells during reading access of said given cells.
Abstract: The demodulator in the receiving module of the invention supplies a signal produced based on a signal level detected by a first detector to a second amplifier as an amplification degree adjustment signal. With this arrangement, when a second receiver works, an AGC voltage supplied to the second receiver is already close to an ultimately converging certain value. The AGC voltage supplied to the second receiver is thus stabilized in its value, from the value close to the ultimately converging certain value to the certain value. Accordingly, a time period required from the second receiver starts working until the AGC voltage supplied to second amplifier ultimately converges into the certain value is shortened.
Abstract: In a tape feeder to feed electronic parts with a carrier tape, a lower support member 23 with magnet supporting the carrier tape from its lower side and stabilizing positions of the electronic parts contained in part pockets on the carrier tape by a magnetic force is constituted by a horizontal base 24 mounted on the frame member, an elongated leaf spring member 25 having an upward convex shape in a middle part thereof so as to be supported by the base 24 at opposite ends thereof, and a magnet member 26 attached on an upper face of the middle part of the leaf spring member 25. A fitting hole 24b to which the magnet member 26 can be fitted is formed in the base 24.
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a wireless communication apparatus which can correct error flexibly without wasting consumed resources while maintaining the improvement of reliability resulted from error correction.
Abstract: An air handling system for cooling and/or heating a room includes a sleep mode. The system includes a fan assembly to transport air from the system into the room. A user interface transmits a sleep mode signal upon activation of the sleep mode by a user. A control unit controls the climate control unit to gradually change an ambient temperature in the room over a predetermined period of time in response to the sleep mode signal transmitted by the user interface. Further, the fan assembly has a substantially continuously adjustable speed within a range of speeds defined by a predetermined upper limit and a predetermined lower limit. The control unit adjusts the speed of the fan assembly according to a desired speed of the fan assembly input via the user interface. A multi-position switch defines the predetermined upper and lower limits.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting a turned blank at a workstation in a progressive forging machine comprising simultaneously monitoring both the force on a tool in the workstation and the crank angle of the machine, determining a reference crank angle when the tool is subjected to a force at the workstation about to deliver a blow and a blank in the workstation is properly angularly aligned, operating the machine to forge blanks in a normal manner when a force on the tool at the workstation occurs substantially at the reference crank angle, and interrupting said normal manner when the force on the tool at the workstation occurs before said reference crankshaft angle to enable the blank being formed at the workstation to be separated from remaining blanks being forged in the machine.
