Abstract: Improper microphone position and speech level on a telephone headset is sensed by comparison of a speech envelope to multiple signal threshold levels. A first threshold is used to determine whether a headset user is talking. A second threshold is used to determine whether a signal level at the microphone is sufficiently strong for proper communication. An indicator is activated when the user is talking and the signal level is too weak. Typically, a weak signal is caused by a mispositioned microphone or a user talking too softly.

Abstract: The present invention provides a charging interface. The interface includes a first contact interface system for receiving a male connector. The first interface contact interface system includes a housing with a front surface, where the front surface includes an aperture leading to a well within the housing. A first positive contact is disposed within the well and a first negative contact is disposed within the well. The interface also includes a second contact interface system comprising conductive contacts disposed on the front surface outside the aperture. The conductive contacts comprise a second positive contact and a second negative contact.

Abstract: The present invention provides an electrical cable system including a first electrical cable and a second electrical cable. The first electrical cable includes a strip shaped insulation material with one or more electrical conductors disposed within the strip shaped insulation material. The second electrical cable includes a groove shaped insulation material for receiving the strip shaped insulation material and one or more electrical conductors disposed within the groove shaped insulation material. The first electrical cable and second electrical cable may be releasably joined to form a co-joined cable by mating the strip shaped insulation material with the groove shaped insulation material.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method and apparatus for manufacturing communication devices. A cover is attached to a surface of a faceplate that includes at least one opening, to provide enhanced device protection and sound quality. In one embodiment of the present invention, ultrasonic energy is used to cleanly and efficiently attach a cover to an inner surface of the faceplate. Advantageously, the present invention provides for improved manufacturing consistency and efficiency while also improving product quality.
Abstract: A system and method for small built-in antennas that can be incorporated into short range communication devices such as cordless headsets are disclosed. The antenna is a built-in bifurcated inverted F antenna. The antenna generally includes two signal radiating and receiving arms of substantially equal electrical length extending generally parallel to each other along a longitudinal length of the antenna, the arms defining an opening therebetween extending along the longitudinal length of the antenna, a signal component in communication with the two arms for transmitting and receiving signals between the two arms and a signal contact of the wireless communication device, and a grounding component in contact with a grounding plane for grounding the antenna. The antenna may include an extension sloped relative to the grounding plane and extending between the grounding component and the arms to minimize the profile of the antenna.
