  • Patent number: 5201408
Abstract: The housing for an electric snap action switch has a front section with a frame having a surface serving to abut the front side of a mounting plate, and a coaxial rear section with a surface facing away from the surface of the frame and serving to abut or to be placed adjacent one side of a circuit board. A nut mates with an externally threaded tubular portion of the front section to maintain the surface of the frame in abutment with the mounting plate. The two sections are separably coupled to each other by resilient male detent elements which are provided on the front section and extend into complementary female detent elements of the rear section. The housing acts as a distancing element between the mounting plate and the circuit board, and its rear section has a recess for a switching unit which is secured to the circuit board and can be actuated by movable parts which are installed in the front section. The rear section is secured to the circuit board by screws.

  • Patent number: 5201552
Abstract: A device for simultaneously coupling two pipes with two hoses has a discrete tubular connector for each hose, and each connector has flexible arms with pallets which can engage external retainers on the pipes. The connectors are more or less permanently secured to the respective hoses and are separably connected to each other by a flexible holder having C-shaped collars receivable in external grooves of the connectors and one or more flexible webs which connect the collars to each other. The flexible holder compensates for eventual departure of the distance between the pipes from an optimum distance and/or for absence of exact parallelism of the pipes with one another. When a connector is separated from the holder, it can be used as a constituent of a simple hose coupling, namely to connect the end portion of a hose to a nipple, to a pipe or another tubular component.

  • Patent number: 5201687
Abstract: A continuously variable belt or chain transmission wherein the input shaft carries a first adjustable sheave and the output shaft carries a second adjustable sheave. The axially movable flanges of the sheaves are displaceable toward the associated fixedly mounted flanges by hydraulic cylinder and piston units. The pressure of fluid in such units is regulated by a torque sensor which is a hydrostatic pump installed between a prime mover and the input shaft and further serves as a means for eliminating peaks of transmitted torque and/or as a clutch. A second pump is provided to supply pressurized fluid to one or more additional cylinder and piston units which are used to change the ratio of the transmission. The cylinder and piston unit for the axially movable flange of the sheave on the output shaft can contain a diaphragm spring serving to permanently bias the respective movable flange against an endless belt or chain which is trained over the sheaves.

  • Patent number: 5197364
Abstract: Apparatus for trimming lateral marginal portions of a scalloped stream of partially overlapping sheets has two counterknives at that side of the path for the sheets which is adjacent the leaders of successive sheets and a pair of rotary knives located opposite the counterknives at the side of the path which is adjacent the trailing ends of successive sheets. The sheets of the stream of sheets issuing from a printing machine must be inverted by 180.degree. if the counterknives are located beneath the respective rotary knives. Trimming operations which are carried out upon successive sheets having leaders at that side of the path which is adjacent the counterknives are less likely to result in tearing of the sheets than the trimming operations in conventional apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5195552
Abstract: A check valve wherein the housing has an inlet and a seat at one end and an outlet at the other end. The other end can receive a removable and reinsertable cage which serves to confine a selected one of several spherical and/or otherwise configurated valving elements to movements between a sealing position of engagement with the seat to seal the inlet from the outlet and an inoperative position in which the housing, the selected valving element and the cage define a path for the flow of a fluid from the inlet toward, through and beyond the outlet. The inserted valving element is biased against the seat by a spring or by the fluid when the pressure of fluid at the outlet exceeds the pressure of fluid at the inlet.

  • Patent number: 5194044
Abstract: A torsional vibration damping apparatus which operates between the crankshaft of the engine and the input shaft of the transmission in a motor vehicle has two flywheels which are rotatable relative to each other against the opposition of one or more dampers installed in a fluid-containing chamber of the flywheel which is connected to the crankshaft. The chamber has one or two annular compartments for the coil springs of the damper or dampers, and such coil springs are caused to store energy by a flange which is connected to the flywheel that drives the input shaft of the transmission and by integral or separately produced stops of the flywheel which is connected with the crankshaft. The flange cooperates with the respective flywheel to form a flow restrictor which opposes the flow of fluid from and into the compartment or compartments of the chamber in response to expansion or contraction of the coil springs.

  • Patent number: 5194046
Abstract: A flywheel assembly has a first flywheel which is connectable to the output shaft of an internal combustion engine, and a coaxial second flywheel which is connectable with the input shaft of a variable-speed transmission in response to engagement of a friction clutch. The flywheels are rotatable relative to each other by deforming the coil springs of a first damper which substantially unassistedly offers a relatively small resistance to such rotation during an initial stage of angular movement of at least one flywheel in at least one direction from a neutral position relative to the other flywheel, and thereupon by deforming the coil springs of at least one second damper which offers a greater resistance to a further stage of angular movement of the at least one flywheel from the neutral position. The dampers compensate for fluctuations of torque which is transmitted between the engine and the transmission.

  • Patent number: 5192970
Abstract: An exposed and developed filmstrip and band of similar length are connected edge-to-edge. An address for each negative of the filmstrip is imprinted on the band in the form of a bar code adjacent to the respective negative. The negatives are scanned and exposure values are calculated for the negatives from the resulting data. The exposure values are used to make proofs, and the exposure values for each negative are then stored in a memory under the corresponding address. When an order for final copies of a particular negative is subsequently received, the address of the negative is read from the band and used to retrieve the respective exposure values from the memory. The final copies are thereupon made based upon the retrieved exposure values.

  • Patent number: 5188622
Abstract: A vacuum bottle for collection of pus has a vessel of pressure- and tempeure-resistant plastic material. The outlet of the neck of the vessel is surrounded by a collar which has a plane end face and extends radially outwardly beyond the external surface of the neck, the same as an annular rib which is spaced apart from the collar. The end face is adjacent a membrane-like end wall of a cupped elastic cover having a cylindrical skirt which surrounds the neck and has an internal shoulder engaging an external shoulder of the rib to separably couple the cover to the bottle. The end wall is connected with one end of a conduit the other end of which can draw pus from a wound. The pressure in the vessel is reduced below atmospheric pressure by heating the vessel so that the air therein expands and escapes between the neck and the skirt of the cover. The vessel is thereupon cooled whereby the end wall penetrates into the outlet and sealingly engages the end face of the collar.
