  • Patent number: 6854339
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor having a pair of ultrasound transducers adapted to be inserted in and being able to perform at a single site of introduction into a duct. The ultrasonic sensor measures a forward ultrasonic path transit time and a second reverse ultrasonic path transit time of ultrasound signals propagating in a fluid. The arrangement being such that a comparison of the signal associated with ultrasound travel in one direction with that of the signal associated with ultrasound travel in the opposite direction enables the flow rate of the fluid in the duct to be determined. The ultrasonic sensor may utilize a curved reflecting surface on the duct and a reflective surface of an ultrasonic sensor end cap to provide forward and reverse ultrasonic W-shaped paths.

  • Patent number: 6857041
Abstract: A system to initialize a memory device. An operating system executes an application program. A memory device has a plurality of memory addresses that hold data. A firmware device holds settings for the memory device and sends a completion signal to the operating system only after an initialization of the memory device has been completed in response to an initialization request being received from the operating system. A memory controller initializes a range of the memory addresses to a configurable value after receiving the initialization request from the firmware device, and sends the completion signal to the firmware device after the initialization is completed.

  • Patent number: 6855037
Abstract: The present invention provides a wafer carrier that includes an opening, which in one embodiment is a plurality of holes, disposed along the periphery of the wafer carrier. A gas emitted through the holes onto a peripheral back edge of the wafer assists in preventing the processing liquids and contaminants resulting therefrom from reaching the inner region of the base and the backside inner region of the wafer. In another embodiment, a plurality of concentric sealing members are used to prove a better seal, and the outer seal is preferably independently movable to allow cleaning of a peripheral backside of the wafer to occur while the wafer is still attached to the wafer carrier.

  • Patent number: 6856936
Abstract: Systems and methods to identify an event(s) representing a discontinuity in the impedance of a transmission line such as a wire cable using time domain reflectrometry (TDR) are presented. According to an exemplary embodiment, multiple layers of digital signal processing techniques are implemented in an algorithm that combats the smearing effect of a wide launch pulses with the reflection due to an event. The algorithm focuses on wavelet decomposition and additional post processing to produce a well-defined signal that allows easy identification of the reflected signal while preserving critical information, such as the location of the event and relative signal strength.

  • Patent number: 6856192
Abstract: A filter coil incorporates coils, each having the same inductance, which differ from each other in winding directions and are used for low-pass filters for eliminating carrier frequency components in BTL outputs of a class-D amplifier, which performs pulse-width modulation and amplification on input signals. A pair of coils can be arranged to adjoin together along axial directions thereof in a single package, or plural pairs of coils can be arranged to adjoin together in a single package with intervention of a magnetic shield therebetween. Alternatively, a pair of coils are wound about a single core along its axial direction with intervention of a magnetic shield therebetween. Thus, it is possible to effectively suppress inductive coupling between adjacent coils, and it is possible to realize reduction of installed areas of coils and reduction of the cost in manufacture of filter coils as well as prevention of unwanted radiation.
