Abstract: Solid rigid acrylic copolymer materials, useful for forming ophthalmic devices, are processed into the shape of an ophthalmic device, such as an intraocular lens and are then processed into a foldable form. The acrylic copolymer material has polymer units derived from an ?,?-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, such as, (meth)acrylic acid, 1-butenoic acid, and the like, and an aryl(meth)acrylate monomer, such as, phenyl(meth)acrylate, 2-ethyloxy(meth)acrylate, and the like. The processing into a foldable shape may be accomplished by contacting the rigid material, having a Tg of 25° C. or higher, with an alcohol, preferably in the presence of acid catalyst, to lower the Tg to 20° C. or less.

Abstract: A method and processing tool are provided for trimming a gate electrode structure containing a gate electrode layer with a first dimension. A reaction layer is formed through reaction with the gate electrode structure. The reaction layer is the selectively removed from the unreacted portion of the gate electrode structure by chemical etching, thereby forming a trimmed gate electrode structure with a second dimension that is smaller than the first dimension. The trimming process can be carried out under process conditions where formation of the reaction layer is substantially self-limiting. The trimming process can be repeated to further reduce the dimension of the gate electrode structure.

Abstract: In a reflective lithographic projection apparatus, shifts in the image of a pattern of a mask in the scanning direction caused by variations in the position of the pattern surface of the mask along the optical axis are corrected by shifting of the relative position of the mask and/or the substrate in the scanning direction. Correction of the image rotation error may also be accomplished by rotation of the relative positions of the mask and/or the substrate about the optical axis. Variations in the position of the pattern surface of the mask along the optical axis may be determined by interferometers upon installation of the mask to the lithographic projection apparatus. The variations may be mapped and stored to provide control of the lithographic projection apparatus.

Abstract: A sensor component that may be used in conjunction with a filter module may include a plurality of sensor packages. The latter, in turn, may incorporate one or more micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors to measure various characteristics of fluid flow and filtration. A single sensor component may be adapted to measure the pressure, temperature, flow rate, differential pressure, conductivity, viscosity, pH level, etc. of the fluid at an upstream and a downstream location. Sensor measurements may be obtained continuously in order to monitor and indicate fluid conditions, including the use of a warning mechanism to indicate an out-of-range condition when the measurements fall outside of pre-set limits. Depending on the application and the fluid being filtered, data, including measurement data, may be transmitted through electrical connections or wirelessly. In wireless configurations, a sleep-mode may be included to maximize the life of local power supplies.

Abstract: A common mode noise cancellation circuit eliminates common mode noise generated by one or more high-frequency switching devices. A common mode noise waveform generated by the one or ore switching devices is capacitively coupled from the primary winding to the first secondary winding of a transformer. A set of cancellation secondary windings generates a common mode cancellation waveform, and cancels the common mode noise waveform because the common mode cancellation waveform is approximately equal in amplitude and opposite in phase to the common mode noise waveform. A triac control circuit receives an AC input and determines whether the AC input is within a range where multiplying of the DC voltage is implemented. If the triac control circuit determines the AC input is within the range, the triac control circuit transmits a triac firing signal to the triac circuit. The triac circuit charges a capacitor bank to multiply the DC voltage.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a high-performance image-forming optical system made compact and thin by folding an optical path using reflecting surfaces arranged to minimize the number of reflections. A prism member 10 has a first entrance surface 11, first to fourth reflecting surfaces 12 to 15, and a first exit surface 16. An optical path incident on the first reflecting surface 12 and an optical path reflected from the second reflecting surface 13 form intersecting optical paths. An optical path incident on the third reflecting surface 14 and an optical path reflected from the fourth reflecting surface 15 form intersecting optical paths. At least either one of the first reflecting surface 12 and the second reflecting surface 13 and at least either one of the third reflecting surface 14 and the fourth reflecting surface 15 have a rotationally asymmetric curved surface configuration that gives a power to a light beam and corrects aberrations due to decentration.

Abstract: A join process is disclosed for a wireless mesh topology network. In the network, nodes have multiple spatial coverage sub-sectors together covering a larger sector angle and a node can establish connection with other nodes located in directions covered by its sub-sectors. The join process adds a joining node to the network and includes having the joining node listen to sub-sectors at a specific receiving frequency for a defined time. Thereafter, the network node changes its sub sectors and its receiving frequencies according to a defined timing and sequence. Active network nodes transmit organized invitation data packets on defined sectors, frequencies and timing, based on relative location and relative angle orientation deduced from sub-sectors already in use for existing internal network communication. This reduces frequency interference in the network and reduces time required for the join process.

Abstract: A three-dimensional sound reproducing apparatus is configured by cascading a sound field effect adding unit and a crosstalk canceling unit. The sound field effect adding unit adds a predetermined three-dimensional sound field effect to an input audio signal, thereby generating audio signals respectively corresponding to left and right channels. The crosstalk canceling unit performs a calculation process on the audio signals of the two channels so that, when the audio signals are respectively generated by two loudspeakers positioned in front of a listener, the audio signals reach the left and right ears of the listener without producing crosstalk. The resulting audio signals are supplied to the loudspeakers, respectively.
