  • Patent number: 6161815
Abstract: An hydraulic valve has a flow/pressure characteristic matched to that of a pump with which it is used. The valve has a housing with a fluid inlet in its side and an outlet at one end. A shuttle is movable along the housing under control of a proportional solenoid, to vary the amount by which an edge of the shuttle covers the inlet and thereby controls flow of fluid through the valve. The shuttle has a flange one end located between the inlet and outlet so that fluid flowing from the inlet to the outlet applies pressure to one side of the flange and displaces the shuttle to close the inlet. In this way, an increase in pressure tends to reduce the effective size of the inlet aperture to compensate for pressure variation.

  • Patent number: 6162095
Abstract: A connector backshell assembly has a metal-plated plastic cylinder with castellations at its rear end through the screens of cables are threaded. A cap embraces the castellations and has internal projections that project into recesses between the castellations. A coupling nut extends around the cylinder and bears against the rear end of the cap so that the cap is clamped onto the cylinder when the nut is screwed onto the rear of a connector. This clamps the screens between projections in the cap and the recesses in the cylinder so as to make electrical connection with the screens.

  • Patent number: 6162013
Abstract: An arrangement to regulate the flow of steam extracted intermediately from a steam turbine and to induce a steam flow, between separate turbine parts, in a direction that is essentially axial with respect to the rotational direction of the turbine rotor. The steam turbine consists of two turbine parts separated by a partition wall and has an intermediate steam extraction outlet located between the first turbine part and the partition wall. Steam may pass between the two turbine parts through a passage, within the partition wall, having an externally controlled valve used to regulate the steam flow. The valve is configured to reduce the external force needed to control its position. Together, the valve and passage are configured to minimize the pressure loss and turbulence of the steam flow as it passes between the two turbine parts so that the steam flow pressure on the second turbine part is maximized.

  • Patent number: 6163004
Abstract: When a projection nut is brought into an intended position, in order that welding may be completed with the nut kept at accurate posture and the nut fed in correct position, a recess (21) is formed at the leading end of a feed rod (20), the feed rod (20) is moved back in a direction almost orthogonal to the axial line of an electrode, and when the feed rod (20) is stopped, a guide pin (13) of an electrode (11) gets into a screw hole (26) of a projection nut (25), and then the feed rod (20) is restored to determine the position of the nut (25), then the other electrode (19) advances to complete the welding.

  • Patent number: 6161772
Abstract: A device for feeding a controlled volume flow of liquid to a spray nozzle for automatic spray application. A conduit defines a flow path from a liquid source to the spray nozzle. A displacement pump type member is arranged in the conduit. A driver drives the displacement pump type member with the movable parts thereof with a speed determined by the actual volume flow through the conduit. Elements arranged in the conduit upstream of the displacement pump type member supply the flow of liquid through the conduit to the displacement pump type member and properly feed the liquid in the conduit. A valve is located in the conduit. A regulator regulates the volume flow through the conduit by regulating the throttling degree of the valve means. A first measurer measures the pressure of the flow in the conduit downstream of the displacement pump type member. A second measurer measures the pressure of the flow in the conduit upstream of the displacement pump type member.

  • Patent number: 6162359
Abstract: Process for recovering and reusing effluent gas from an ozonization reactor in a plant for treating effluent, especially sewage, which includes a biological reactor, a clarifier and an ozonization reactor. The effluent gas from the ozonization reactor is brought, as a cocurrent, into contact with a stream of water containing compounds that can be oxidized by the ozone, so that the residual ozone is removed and efficiently consumed. The effluent gas thus stripped of the residual ozone is then, optionally, pressurized using a fluid taken from the plant so as to produce a gas/liquid mixture. The gas liquid mixture is converted into an emulsion of fine bubbles, and the emulsion is introduced into the biological reactor, preferably near the bottom of the latter.

  • Patent number: 6159028
Abstract: A detector of a flat plate (12) comprises two contact bars (1, 2) extending along two longitudinal parallel axes. Each contact bar is a curved bar having two segments extending opposite each other, a first bar (1) comprising an extension piece (3) configured so as to be opposite the second bar (2), these bars being lodged in a housing (13) suitable for holding the segments compressed between walls of the housing. • Patent number: 6160292
Abstract: According to the present invention, a circuit and methods for enhancing the operation of SOI fabricated devices are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a pulse discharge circuit is provided. Here, a circuit is designed to provide a pulse that will discharge the accumulated electrical charge on the body of the SOI devices in the memory subarray just prior to the first access cycle. As explained above, once the accumulated charge has been dissipated, the speed penalty for successive accesses to the memory subarray is eliminated or greatly reduced. With a proper control signal, timing and sizing, this can be a very effective method to solve the problem associated with the SOI loading effect. Alternatively, instead of connecting the bodies of all SOI devices in a memory circuit to ground, the bodies of the N-channel FET pull-down devices of the local word line drivers can be selectively connected to a reference ground.

  • Patent number: 6155927
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic system for contests between professional competitors and amateurs, the former moving about in an actual environment (19) and the latter moving about in the same environment in virtual reality. In its application to an automobile race on a closed circuit (19), the invention resides in the fact that, associated with each real circuit is a circuit server device (21) which stores the positions and the performance of the actual vehicles, each of which is piloted by a professional competitor. This circuit server device (21) is connected to terminal devices (28, 29, 30), each of which is associated with an amateur competitor via local server devices (22, 23, 24). Each terminal device comprises a cockpit which simulates a cockpit in an actual vehicle and comprises means to display, on its screen, the contest circuit, and to process the data from the cockpit and to compare said data to the performance of the other virtual vehicles and the actual vehicles.
