Abstract: Apparatus for the thermal management of high pressure gas storage tanks wherein the compression heat of refueling the tank is evacuated from the interior of the tank in which a gas circulates within the tank powered by a pump powered and as the gas traverses from the high pressure refuel depot to the storage tank, the circulating gas absorbs the refueling heat and carries the heat to a cooling system having a supplemental heat exchange device before the gas is introduced into the tank. The apparatus may be operated in reverse to transfer heat from a source to the tank interior to provide more complete exhaustion of the tank during vehicle operation.
Abstract: Methods of detecting affinity interactions between at least two molecules of interest are provided. The method comprises: a. forming a plurality of interactors by coupling each molecule of interest with at least one nucleic acid moiety comprising an identification sequence element and at an association element; b. promoting an association between at least two nucleic acid moieties from different interactors to form a plurality of unique associated oligonucleotides, wherein each nucleic acid moiety may form more than one unique associated oligonucleotide, and wherein each unique associated oligonucleotide comprises at least two identification sequence elements derived from the at least two nucleic acid moieties; c. selecting the plurality of unique associated oligonucleotides; and d. subjecting the selected associated oligonucleotides to an analysis that permits detection of the at least two identification sequence elements.
Abstract: An overhead crane adapted to be supported by at least one main support beam includes a bridge adapted to travel in a substantially horizontal direction along the at least one main support beam, a trolley adapted to travel in a substantially horizontal direction along the bridge, a jib rotatably coupled to a bottom surface of the trolley, and a hoist adapted to travel in a substantially horizontal direction along the jib.

Abstract: Ceramic laminate structures, particularly laminate structures including stabilized zirconia compositions, as well as electrodes and electrochemical cells including such laminate structures. The stabilized zirconia composition preferably are selected from scandia-stabilized zirconia and yttria-stabilized zirconia. These laminate structures enhance the overall flexural strength of the electrolyte layer while preserving high electrical conductivity. Such laminate structures may be useful in electrochemical fuel cells such as solid oxide fuel cells.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing is disclosed for a motion transmitting cable assembly having a conduit and a core longitudinally movable within the conduit. The method includes the steps of securing a conduit abutment fitting to an end of the conduit, inserting the core through the conduit, placing an end of the core into a mold while the core is extending through the conduit, injection over-molding a core attachment onto the end of the core, removing the core attachment from the mold. Finally, at least a portion of a guide tube over the juncture of the core and the core attachment.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for attaching metal stencil foils to screen mesh using thermoplastic materials. Mechanical, rather than adhesive, attachment of metal stencil foils to screen mesh is accomplished by melting thermoplastic material so as to encapsulate portions of metal stencil foils and screen mesh resulting in faster, less expensive, and more durable bonding.
Abstract: A sealed medical electrode package comprises first and second electrodes each comprising a conductive layer (14) disposed on one major surface of a flexible nonconductive backing sheet (10). The electrodes are disposed with their conductive layers (14) face-to-face and their backing sheets separably sealed together around their peripheral edges so that the backing sheets form a substantially gas-impermeable enclosure containing the conductive layers. In an alternative embodiment (FIG. 6) a respective electrical contact extends through each backing sheet into electrical contact with the respective conductive layer, and a substantially gas-impermeable packaging material encloses the electrodes. The packaging material has a respective aperture exposing each electrical contact, the periphery of each aperture being sealed to the backing sheet around the respective contact.

Abstract: A seating arrangement for a vehicle, especially an aircraft, in which seats are arranged in a plurality of generally parallel ranks, each rank extending in a fore-and-aft direction, and in a plurality of rows, each row extending at an angle other than a right angle with respect to said fore-and-aft direction and wherein adjacent seats in a row overlap in a transverse direction. In the preferred embodiment, the seats of a row also overlap in said fore-and-aft direction and include a truncated armrest at one side of the seat arranged to fit behind an adjacent seat. The seats further include an armrest at the other side of the seat, the armrest comprising a bar which extends from the rear of the seat so that a portion of one seat is located beneath the armrest provided at said other side of an adjacent seat.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a peptide comprising a symmetrical dimethylated arginine, and constitute an immunologic determinant of antibodies present in sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and wherein the methylation is a prerequisite for reacting with said antibodies. The invention also relates to the use of said peptide for diagnosis of SLE and the differentiation between SLE and MCTD.
Abstract: A shift-by-wire shifter system includes a spring biased DTP lever engageable with a shifter lever assembly to move the shifter lever assembly to a park position. A DTP lock assembly secures the DTP lever so that the shifter lever assembly is selectively movable along the shift path during normal operation and releases the DTP lever so that the DTP lever moves the shifter lever assembly to the park position upon the loss of system power. A DTP actuator unlocks the shifter lever assembly and the DPT lock assembly upon the loss of system power so that the DTP lever automatically moves the shifter lever assembly to the park position upon the loss of system power. A power storage device is provided to release power to the DPT actuator upon the loss of system power.
Abstract: A control pedal assembly includes a first axle forming a first pivot axis and a first booster link pivotable about the first pivot axis. A control pedal has a second axle forming a second pivot axis, a pedal arm pivotable about the second pivot axis, and a pedal at a lower end of the pedal arm. A second booster link is pivotably connecting the pedal arm with the first booster link so that pivoting motion of the pedal arm about the second pivot axis pivots the booster link about the first pivot axis. A support member has a first end supporting the second axle on opposite sides of the pedal arm and the support member is pivotable about its second end. A drive assembly is operably connected to the control pedal to move the second axle in a fore-aft direction to adjust the control pedal in a fore-aft direction.

Abstract: An infrared inspection and reporting process and system obtains inspection data on site via a portable computer. An actual temperature of a component derived from an infrared image and a temperature delta between the temperature of the component and the maximum temperature for the component is calculated to determine if there is a problem. A criticality level is assigned for each problem component from a plurality of criticality levels each having a predetermined range for the temperature delta. The criticality level provides an accurate and consistent assessment of component conditions. The inspection data is up linked to a home server from the portable computer and is made available to the customer via an interactive, on-line web application. The customer can interact with the inspection dating including an interactive prediction of energy savings if the problem component is repaired.
