  • Patent number: 4167071
Abstract: One golf shoe of a pair of golf shoes worn by a golfer is designed to aid the golfer to take a strong, braced stance with his right foot if he is a right-handed golfer or with his left foot if he is a left-handed golfer. This is accomplished by making the spikes on the outer edge or periphery of the shoe longer than the other spikes on the same shoe and on the other shoe. The spikes may also or alternatively be thicker for resistance to penetration into the ground or for added strength. The spikes may also be broader on the bottom or elsewhere to prevent too much penetration into the grass or dirt.

  • Patent number: 4167045
Abstract: A prosthesis suitable for implantation in a bloody environment. The prosthesis includes a surface material adapted for exhibiting a regular and periodic surface charge characteristic in the bloody environment. A prosthesis means supports the surface material and is adapted to perform a prosthetic function in the bloody environment. In cases where cross-linking is desired and the surface material cannot cross-link with the substrate material, an adaptive material is provided which cross-links both to the surface material and to the material of the prosthesis. In one type of prosthesis, the surface material is aluminized. In another type of prosthesis, acrylamide is applied to the prosthesis. In still another type of prosthesis, agar is applied to the prosthesis in conjunction with gelatin. In another type of prosthesis, albumin is applied to the prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 4146418
Abstract: A label is applied to a cup by superimposing a foil tape on a label tape that has a plurality of transverse breaking lines. The tapes are heated to "floatingly" connect the label tape to the foil tape and are then introduced into a deep-drawing apparatus so that the punch thereof may cyclically sever a single label and at the same time form a cup. If the breaking line is fed to the longitudinal axis of the deep-drawing apparatus, the label will be applied to two sides of the cup. If the label tape is fed so that the breaking line is approximately at the far edge of the deep-drawing apparatus then the label will be applied to only one side of the cup. The label tape may be longitudinally slit so that a plurality of cups may be simultaneously deep-drawn.

  • Patent number: 4144603
Abstract: A method of retaining a pillow in a pillow case which comprises forming a rectangular pillow case which is closed on three sides and has an opening extending along the fourth side and partially closing the fourth side at the edges of the opening to form retainer portions thereat which will contain the pillow in the pillow case. The retainer portions are formed along between about 21 and 37% of the length of the fourth side equally at the side edges to permit insertion of the pillow into the pillow case through the available opening when the pillow is inclined relative to the opening. The retainer portions retain the pillow in the pillow case and prevent removal therefrom unless the pillow is intentionally dislodged in the pillow case and oriented for removal through the opening.

  • Patent number: 4144581
Abstract: Random audio signals are converted into sine-waves of corresponding frequency and duration, and harmonics are derived from the sine-waves. The harmonics are controllably attenuated and selectively inverted and combined to form an output signal. The conversion of the random signals is effected by squaring the same to drive a Schmitt trigger which feeds into a levelled integrator which leads to a diode function generator. The harmonics are generated with the use of four-quadrant multipliers.

  • Patent number: 4136900
Abstract: For the entrapment of animal feces and other miscellaneous objects, there is provided an apparatus including a spreader which is used in connection with disposable bags in which animal feces or other objects may be entrapped for sanitary disposal or otherwise. The spreader is mounted on an elongated support which also supports a trigger and handle arrangement. A unit is provided which converts the longitudinal force generated by the trigger into pivotal movement of arms of the spreader in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal force. A loop is mounted at one end of the elongated support and adjacent the trigger and handle arrangements so that the combination can be supported by one arm and hand of the user.

  • Patent number: 4124839
Abstract: Coded cylindrical drums mounted on the pointers of dials of a meter are provided with parallel axially aligned rows of data elements constituted by opaque and transparent areas. Each of the drums is provided with a transparent centrally located ring parallel to the rows. Light is transmitted diametrally through the drums thereby intersecting the same at two places. So that the light will scan the rows as they are brought into position and so that the light can escape through the transparent ring, the light is converged at two spaced and orthogonally related lines for each drum. This is accomplished by passing the light through a positive aspherical or a spherical lens and cylindrical lens in series. The light is thereby converged at two orthogonally related lines respectively located at a shortened focal length due to the added power of the cylindrical lens and at the positive lens' normal focal length. The difference of the two focal lengths corresponds to the cylindrical drum diameter.

  • Patent number: 4122736
Abstract: A punch apparatus is provided to punch holes in an article by the use of a die punch. The die punch is forced through the article to be punched. A cleaning device is extended into engagement with the die punch when the die punch is in a position penetrating the article. This enables a cleaning of the die punch. The cleaning device is then retracted so that the article can be detached from said die punch.
