  • Patent number: 4107454
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for pneumatically communicating with a pressurized cable provided with a peripheral opening. The apparatus includes a saddle of resilient material having a cross-section defined by a parabola and the arc of a circle. The saddle is adapted to sit astride the cable in surrounding relationship with the opening. A pneumatic fitting is molded into the saddle in generally parallel relationship with the cable. The saddle is provided with a bore communicating with the fitting and generally perpendicular thereto. The bore communicates with the opening in the cable. A sealing compound is provided between the saddle and the cable and the saddle is held on the cable by a pair of straps holding a metal strip against the saddle. An orientation protrusion is located on the saddle in alignment with the bore and protruding through an opening provided in the strip.

  • Patent number: 4100719
Abstract: An elongated central shaft is provided at one end with a hook for supporting thereon a hanger for a garment contained thereon. The other end of the central elongated shaft is connected to a mounting element which mounts the arrangement on an apparatus for bagging garments. The elongated shaft has mounted thereabout a spreader unit which is hinged at its ends thereof so that, as a bag is pulled down from an apparatus for bagging garments, the spreader unit positioned about the central elongated shaft will cause the leading end of the bag to open up and thereby avoid contact with the hook and the central elongated shaft.

  • Patent number: 4101876
Abstract: A security system is provided in which the monitoring of an article to detect an alarm condition involves sensing the effect of the article on ambient electromagnetic radiation, such as light, and initiating an alarm when the effect of the article on the radiation indicates an alarm condition. According to one aspect of the invention, the effect of the article on ambient radiation is sensed by comparing direct measurements of the radiation with measurements of the radiation along a path normally intercepted by the article. In one form, the security arrangement of the invention includes two light sensing devices, one of which is arranged behind the article to be protected, or is otherwise concealed by such article, and the other of which is arranged to sense ambient radiation. These lead directly into a group of comparators, the output of which is sensed for rate of change in order to control the sounding of a local alarm or a full-security alarm.

  • Patent number: 4097380
Abstract: A septic tank for use with a leaching pool is provided which has a cylindrical portion forming a chamber for treatment of raw sewage. A ring encircles the cylindrical portion for mounting the septic tank on the upper wall edge of the leaching pool. Positioning haunches or centering elements are also provided which automatically center the septic tank on the leaching pool. An inlet baffle and an outlet baffle are also provided in the septic tank with each having an open top for alignment with a viewing opening formed in a cover provided for the septic tank. The outlet baffle leads into a passageway formed by a reinforcing member extending downwardly from the upper portion of the cylindrical portion. The cylindrical member, the ring, the positioning haunches, and the reinforcing member are all monolithically formed of precast concrete.

  • Patent number: 4094160
Abstract: A diving bell is provided with a cut-out or aperture from which extends a ring portion. Attached to one end of the ring portion is a transparent door or window maneuverable into position, for example, by a davit or by a hinge assembly mounted on the diving bell. The door or window includes a transparent hemispherical portion made of lucite or glass, and a hollow cylindrical extension which is connected at one end to the transparent hemispherical portion and at its other end to the ring portion. Dogging latches mounted on the end of the hollow cylindrical extension connected to the ring portion allow for the locking and unlocking of the transparent door or window further allows for panoramic viewing of the surrounding terrain or water, as well as the conversion of an observation diving bell into a working bell with remote control.

  • Patent number: RE29757
Abstract: A surgical prosthesis or implant for replacing the natural components of a bicondylar joint in a human limb (leg or arm). Thus, a natural knee or elbow joint consists of two pairs of coacting load-bearing condyles. The prosthetic implant has two pairs of coacting male and female condylar components. The male and female components which replace the natural lateral condyles are spherical or spheroidal in shape to simulate a ball and socket joint, while the male and female components which replace the natural medial condyles are constituted by a rib or ridge and a groove. Both the rib and the groove are curved, in a plane normal to the general axis of the limb when straight or extended, to an arc of a circle centered on the center of articulation of the ball and socket, and are also curved in a plane parallel to the limb, the radius of the crest of the rib being less than the radius of the coacting base of the groove.
