  • Patent number: 4559427
Abstract: A keyboard system comprises a circuit board having a matrix of contact switches. A module comprises a matrix of keys in actuating correspondence with the contact switches. The keys are of a resilient elongated form having at the terminus an upwardly projecting contact button and a pair of downwardly projecting pegs. One peg contacts a contact switch for actuation thereof. The other peg is receivable in a recess in the circuit board for maintaining alignment of the key. The module also forms a support for an overlying membrane wherein manual depressing of selective locations of the membrane actuates a corresponding contact switch.

  • Patent number: 4552669
Abstract: A repeatably rejuvenating filtration system of the pneumatic hydro-pulse type is disclosed as including the feeding of a solid/fluid feed slurry to be filtered into operative engagement with the interior porous wall surfaces of a plurality of open ended tubular filter elements so that filtrate passes outwardly through the walls of the filter elements and the solids are collected as a cake on the interior wall surface. The cake of solids on the interior wall surface is subjected to an axial discharge fluid flow through the interior of the filter elements along the length of the cake for removal of the cake axially along the interior of the filter elements. The system includes an arrangement for providing a pressure actuated pulse of fluid that may operate through the cylindrical walls toward the axial bore of the filter tubes to dislodge the filtered material, and may operate substantially simultaneously with the axial discharge flow for conducting the dislodged filtered material from the open ended bores.

  • Patent number: 4550702
Abstract: A spill control system for a distributor pump employs an axially positionable valve member to control the passage of diverted fuel through a spill passage. The valve member is axially displaced by an actuator pin mounted to the cam ring which actuates the pump plungers. A cam surface which rotates with the pump rotor engages the actuator pin. The valve member is also angularly positionable for controlling the passage of diverted fuel. The diverted fuel is spilled to the housing interior or in one embodiment may be recouped and redirected to the fuel inlet passage in the rotor. A check valve is employed to prevent the passage of diverted fuel until the injection pressure of the diverted fuel exceeds a pressure in excess of the maximum transfer pressure of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4546718
Abstract: A sailing ship (1) has at least one mast (2,3,4) rigidly attached thereto, to which the yards (5 to 9) are rotatably attached. By an actuating shaft (21), the sail (22, 22a, 22b) can be reefed and, with the aid of a corresponding rope (24), it can be erected or stretched. The sail (22, 22a, 22b) is narrower in the middle than at the edges and has upper and lower boltropes (48, 49) that are guided in grooves (27) to the yards (5-9). Erecting and reefing of the sail (22, 22a, 22b) and bracing can be accomplished by remote control. Because of the high speed that can be attained, energy recovery is possible with a propeller.

  • Patent number: 4545899
Abstract: A hydrocyclone comprising a frusto conical feed box extension, a feed box attached to the larger end of the feed box extension, the feed box having a tangential feed pipe, an overflow box positioned over the feed box and including an overflow pipe and a vent pipe, and a fish tail at the narrower end of the feed box extension, characterized in that a pressure compensating valve is positioned in the vent pipe, and operation of the valve is dependent on the pressure within the feed pipe. The pressure compensating valve comprises a valve member biased to an open position against a diaphragm located in a pressure chamber, one side of the diaphragm being in fluid communication with the feed pipe whereby variation of the pressure within the feed pipe causes the diaphragm to displace the valve member to a partially or totally closed position against an associated valve seat.

  • Patent number: 4530408
Abstract: A pneumatic downhole impact drill having a porting system for automatically and sequentially supplying pneumatic pressure fluid from a fluid delivery tube received within a central coaxial bore in an impact piston to the opposite ends of the piston operating cylinder as the piston reciprocates and for selectively and automatically connecting the non-impact end of the cylinder to exhaust via the coaxial bore in the piston as the piston reciprocates. The porting system provides two separate paths for supplying pneumatic pressure fluid to the non-impact end of the cylinder and employs annular porting grooves and internal drilled porting bores in only the non-impact end of the piston to minimize stress concentration from piston impact.

  • Patent number: 4527317
Abstract: In a buckle for a safety belt a pivotable locking bar (13-17) is arranged in relation to the push-in tongue (4) in such a way that the ejector force (11) or the belt force exerting a load on the tongue urges the locking bar out of engagement. To prevent this in the closing position, there is a pivoting lever (21) which can be pivoted as a result of actuation of a slide (27) so that the locking bar (13-17) and consequently the push-in tongue (4) are released. According to the invention, this releasing pivoting movement of the locking bar is assisted because an extension piece (30) is provided on the slide (27) and a projection (32) interacting therewith is provided on the locking bar (13-17), and by means of these, when the slide (27) is pressed in, an additional torque for pivoting the locking bar into the opened position is transmitted.
