  • Patent number: 5503130
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is provided which includes an improved exhaust valve, air/fuel injector, and timing system for operating the valves and injectors. The exhaust valve comprises a rotatable cylindrical valve body having a passage which is located in an exhaust passage. The valve body is actuated by linkage connected to an electronically controlled solenoid. The air/fuel injector comprises a housing having air and fuel reservoirs having orifices therein and an air and fuel needle for selective location each the respective orifices. Air and fuel passing through the orifices is mixed in a venturi and then passes through a screen and check valve into the cylinder. The timing mechanism is connected to the injector and valve and comprises a drum which rotates a housing. Sensors in the housing detect passage of an element on the drum, completing a circuit which actuates an exhaust valve solenoid or the injector needles.

  • Patent number: 5490738
Abstract: A device is provided for transferring crayon or similar drawing material onto a surface. The device comprises an elongate tubular housing for housing a crayon, a transfer wheel, and a number of gears for rotating the crayon with respect to the wheel. The transfer wheel rotates about an axle riding on forks extending from the housing. An inner sleeve is located in the housing and contains the crayon. Gears located on the axle, fork, and sleeve rotate the sleeve when the wheel is driven along a surface. Rotation of the sleeve rotates the crayon, causing the transfer wheel to remove crayon material uniformly from the end of the crayon. Spring loaded offset locking rods press the crayon into engagement with the wheel and lock it in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5482232
Abstract: An apparatus and method for mounting a hardware system in a wall is provided. A mounting bracket and bezel assembly and a rectangular wall frame device are attached to a wall. The bezel plate has a cam lock inserted through its upper portion. The wall frame device has a depth adjustment set screw through the top of the frame. That fits into the cam lock in the bezel plate. At least two angled T-shaped metallic tabs are located on the bottom of the wall frame device to receive the angled base of the assembly, which rests directly on these tabs. The method includes attaching the wall frame device around a suitably sized recessed rectangular hole in a wall. The assembly is attached to a rear portion of an electronics box with finger screws, and the angled base of the assembly is placed onto the lower edge of the wall frame device. The assembly is pushed into the wall frame device and the set screw is adjustable to ensure the assembly fits snugly against the wall.

  • Patent number: 5480117
Abstract: A bracket for mounting a rotary lock member in the frame of a panel is provided. The bracket is a preferably U-shaped body having a base and two legs extending therefrom. The inner dimension of the bracket is chosen to allow insertion of a rotary lock member therein. Panel engaging steps and protrusions are located on the outside surface of each leg for engaging the frame material. The legs of the bracket are biased inwardly towards one another, such that when a locking member is inserted therein, the legs are pressed outwardly, driving the protrusions into the frame material. A number of bores are located in the bracket to allow supplemental locking members to lock the bracket to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5423551
Abstract: A card game for play by at least one player and a dealer is disclosed. Each player enters the game by placing an ante. Each player and the dealer also places a first bet. The dealer selects a player to start the game, and deals a first card to that player. The cards are dealt from a deck comprising two standard decks of fifty-two cards plus eighteen special cards for a total of one-hundred and twenty-two cards. If the first card received by the player is not a special card, the player remains in the game. If the player receives a special card, the player is eliminated from the game and that player's bet is passed to the next player. The dealer then deals a card to the next player, still in the game, the same determination is made as to whether the player is still in the game, and so on in succession until all but one player or the dealer has received a special card.

  • Patent number: 5393057
Abstract: An electronic gaming apparatus (21) including an electronic primary gaming device (22), such as a poker gaming device or slot machine and an electronic secondary gaming device (23). The electronic poker gaming device (22) is electrically coupled to the electronic secondary gaming device (23), and the primary gaming device (22) is responsive to the occurrence of selected events, such as poker hands or slot machine reel combinations, for input into the secondary gaming device (23). Thus, the occurrence of poker hands in the poker gaming device (22) produces selection of a space (52) in the bingo matrix (51) of a bingo-type gaming device (23). A plurality of poker gaming devices or slot machines (21.sub.1 -21.sub.16) can be electrically coupled to a common bingo gaming device (23) for simultaneous play of a single bingo game by a plurality of players, each of whom is playing his or her own individual poker game.

  • Patent number: 5381779
Abstract: A balloon distribution system that utilizes balloons retained within an elongated, tubular storage area. Upon receipt of a signal from a remotely located controller, the previously-placed inflated balloons are propelled from the storage container, and float down upon the people gathered below. The tubular body is mounted above the crowd in a manner such that the open end of the tube is slightly elevated in comparison with the adjacent section of the tubular body, preventing the stored balloons from spilling from the tube. A thruster housing is attached to the closed end of the tubular body, and the housing terminates in discharge face having a plurality of outlet nozzles extending into the cavity within the tubular body. A motor and fan supply the airflow, which flows through the thruster housing and into the tubular body through the plurality of nozzles. The motor is actuated via a signal received from a remotely mounted controller.

  • Patent number: 5150585
Abstract: Energy recovery systems for cold storage warehouses refrigerated by mechanical refrigeration apparatus coacting with a energy recovery unit including a turbine driving an electromotive generator. The cogenerator turbine is driven by the kinetic energy extracted from refrigerant flowing through a first conduit system connecting the compressor, evaporators and condenser of the refrigeration or by the kinetic energy extracted from a coolant being pumped through a second conduit system independent of the first conduit system to cool the compressor as it becomes heated during compression of refrigerant from a vapor phase to a liquid phase during the refrigeration cycle. The extraction of the kinetic energy of the refrigerant flow or coolant flow and the heat generated by the compressor during the refrigerant compression phase represents useful work obtained from the energy recovery system from available surplus energy that otherwise would be wasted.
