  • Patent number: 5910419
Abstract: A method for conducting a screening test series for indications of use of drugs of abuse is set forth including enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RAI) for various analytes extracted from hair samples is set forth. The collected hair sample is divided into portions. One portion is screened cannabinoids using ELISA. Another portion is screened for opiates, PCP, amphetamines and methamphetamines using a combination of RIA or ELISA. Results deemed positive from the screening series are confirmed positive or negative by known techniques such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Those deemed negative are so reportable without the necessity of the expensive confirmatory procedures.

  • Patent number: 5897143
Abstract: A new way of citing pages in an alphabetically indexed printed reference material such as dictionaries and thesauruses. It implement a structured method for locating items in those materials and reduces the number of tasks and the frustration involved. This new way involve dividing the reference material into sections. Each section is divided into sub-sections (group of pages). Each page will have two header items (words) indexing range of the items (words) located in the page. The pages in the sub-section is sited so that the header items of each page is just above the header items of the previous page. Locating a word in done through two or three steps. First locating the section, then locating the sub-section (whenever applicable), and finally locating the page. This is done by browsing the header items (words) on each page.

  • Patent number: 5868619
Abstract: A method is set forth for playing a game wherein an initial holding of five playing cards is provided for the player, the player assembling the initial holding into one or more sub-hands of one card each. Play is completed by completing each sub-hand to final hands of five cards each. For each completed sub-hand which corresponds to a winning combination, payoffs are provided according to a pay table. For losing sub-hand combinations, the wager is lost. Wagers are allocated on a pro-rata basis to each sub-hand based upon the number of cards in the arranged sub-hands. • Patent number: 5868758
Abstract: A method, device and kit for preforming multiple hair transplant grafts disclosed. The device includes a plurality of cutters adapted to make a pattern of incisions in the tissue to receive the grafts. A dilator device preferably comprises interengaging plates. A first plate includes a number of downwardly extending spikes for extension through a number of downwardly extending hollow catheters of a second plate. The first and second plates are pressed together with the interengaging spikes and catheters to define dilators of a pattern corresponding to the pattern of incisions. The dilators are inserted into the incisions and the first plate is removed, leaving the hollow catheters of the second plate in the tissue. A third plate filled with hair grafts is sleeved into or aligned with the catheters of the first plate. The hair grafts are pressed downward through the third plate, through the first plate catheters, into the tissue. The kit includes the incision device and dilator device.

  • Patent number: 5851147
Abstract: An electronic gaming method and device in which the player is able to choose from among a variety of jackpots and associated pay-out schedules varying from low to high jackpot amounts. Best suited to video poker machines, the invention permits the player to choose between higher Royal Flush jackpots tied to lower pay-outs for lower-ranked hands, and lower Royal Flush jackpots tied to higher pay-outs for more frequently achieved lower-ranked hands. In this way, a quarter ($0.25) video poker machine may have a jackpot for a "Royal Flush" ranging up to $25,000 (on the basis of a $1.25 bet) without the need to accumulate funds in a "progressive" jackpot or to interconnect groups of machines. Special jackpots can also be awarded for "Sequential," "Pat" or "Pat Sequential" Royal Flushes allowing jackpots up to $1,000,000 on quarter ($0.25) video poker machines without the need for the player to choose between machines and/or locations to locate desired jackpot amounts.

  • Patent number: 5837171
Abstract: A method of encapsulating and sterilizing waste material is disclosed. Medical waste is deposited inside of a mold. When full, the mold is charged with plastic and one of several reactants. The mold is then heated while rotated biaxially. The heat simultaneously sterilizes the waste and causes the charging materials to expand and envelop the waste, encapsulating it. The mold is then cooled while spinning biaxially, forming a hollow brick of solidified, encapsulated material in the mold. The brick of material is removed and pulverized into granules. The pulverized material is separated and readied for recycling.

  • Patent number: 5820461
Abstract: A player manipulates a control of a video slot machine to cause video images of checks representative of first, second and third base wagers to appear within video images of first, second and third base indicia, respectively. After the wagers are made, a video image of a first base card is displayed face-up and the images of the checks are moved in accordance with a first base action schedule. After a first base action, an image of a second base card is displayed face-up and the images of the checks are moved in accordance with a second base action schedule. After a second base action, an image of a third base card is displayed face-up and the images of the checks are moved in accordance with a third base action schedule. After a third base action, the slot machine makes a payout to the player that is equal to an amount represented by a multiple of checks whose images have moved to within a home plate indicium.
