  • Patent number: 8308334
Abstract: A light emitting assembly comprises a plurality of light sources and a solid light emitting panel member having a light input edge and a transition area between the light sources and the light input edge. Light from the light sources enters the transition area and mixes within the transition area prior to entering the panel member. Refractive surfaces on the transition area redirect the light into the panel member. A film is maintained in spaced relation from the panel member by spacers at a perimeter of the film to form a hollow layer between the panel member and the film. Deformities on or in the panel member cause light to be extracted from the panel member and pass through the hollow layer and out through the film.

  • Patent number: 8311431
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a counting section, a storage section, a control section, and a driving member control section. The counting section counts the number of recording media subjected to successive printing. The storage section stores the number counted by the counting section. The control section performs a control process including: setting a power saving mode by selecting a printing speed of the fixing section which is lower than a preset normal speed used in the normal mode while selecting a preset fixing temperature of the fixing section which is lower than a preset normal temperature used in the normal mode when the normal mode is alive while a frequency of successive printing on not more than three recording media is a predetermined percentage or more. The driving member control section switches a current printing speed of the fixing section to a printing speed selected by the control section.

  • Patent number: 8305261
Abstract: A method of adaptively removing mainlobe clutter from range-Doppler data includes estimating the peak of the mainlobe clutter, and determining clutter regionboundaries adaptively and robustly. The mainlobe clutter peak may be estimated from the range-Doppler data, for example using both nonlinear and linear filters. Alternatively the mainlobe clutter peak may be estimated from knowledge of the position and speed of the vehicle, such as a missile, upon which the radar system moves. The clutter boundaries may be determined at each of the range bins by stepping along Doppler bins from the mainlobe clutter peak estimate in opposite directions, locating the boundary at locations off of the mainlobe clutter peak estimate that meet a given criterion. The method produces a finer determination of the mainlobe clutter region, resulting in less of the range-Doppler data being excluded as part of the mainlobe clutter region.

  • Patent number: 8306085
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a production method for a nitride compound semiconductor element including a substrate and a multilayer structure 40 supported by an upper face of the substrate. First, a wafer 1 to be split into individual substrates is provided. A plurality of semiconductor layers composing the multilayer structure 40 are grown on the wafer 1. By cleaving the wafer 1 and the semiconductor layers, a cleavage plane in the multilayer structure 40 is formed. In the present invention, a plurality of voids are arranged at positions in the multilayer structure at which a cleavage plane is to be formed. Thus, cleavage can be performed with a good yield.

  • Patent number: 8302948
Abstract: A test fixture for making an electrical connection with electrical contacts of a circuit board includes jaws made of conductive material. The jaws may be monolithic pieces of copper, with a pair of sections that pivot along a thin hinged portion at one end. The jaws float freely within a test fixture housing, allowing the jaws to reposition themselves within the housing to adjust to variations in position of the electrical contacts. A clamping mechanism pushes free ends of the jaw sections toward one another, causing engagement between the sections and the electrical contacts. The test fixture provides a way to provide good contact area and good contact pressure, allowing large-current flows between the jaws and the electrical contacts, while at the same time providing substantially no force on the circuit board in a direction perpendicular to the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 8297109
Abstract: For leak testing, a tracer gas is advanced to the outer wall (11) of the hollow test object (10) while the test object (10) is in an evacuated state. The tracer gas is discharged from a blower device (14) in the form of soap bubbles (21). When contacting the outer wall (11), the soap bubbles will burst, thus forming a cloud (27) of tracer gas immediately on the outer wall (11). By the invention, it is made easier to localize the invisible tracer gas in the ambient air. Further, the tracer gas can be used more effectively so that the costs for performing the testing process are reduced.
