  • Patent number: 8079942
Abstract: The archery training device allows an archer to properly train his or her muscles, as well as train for proper archery technique. The archery training device includes a support having a plurality of pairs of apertures formed therethrough. A plurality of elastic members each has opposed first and second ends, which are respectively received within one of the plurality of pairs of apertures and attached to the support. Optionally, the upper end of an elastic band may be releasably attached to the support. A lower end of the optional elastic band is adapted for being held against a support surface by the foot of the archer. In use, the archer grasps the support with the bow hand and grasps a selected number of the plurality of elastic members with the string hand to simulate a string pull of an archery bow.

  • Patent number: 8074512
Abstract: A system for on-line testing of an emergency shut-off valve includes a first emergency shut-off valve and a control for initiating a test on the first emergency shut-off valve. The system also includes a fluid actuator for opening and closing the first emergency shut-off valve. A subsystem is also provided for testing the first emergency shut-off valve without fully closing the shut-off valve in response to a signal from the control. In this system, a second solenoid valve bleeds off pressurized fluid to move the emergency shut-off valve from a fully opened to a partially closed position functions as a second emergency shut-off valve. A second emergency shut-off valve is also provided in series with the first emergency shut-off valve and a bypass around the second emergency shut-off valve allows the second emergency shut-off valve to be tested by being fully closed without shutting down the process.

  • Patent number: 8075367
Abstract: The absorbent pad for an underwire brassiere includes a sealed cover layer having opposed first and second surfaces and defining an open interior region therein. The first surface is porous, allowing for passage of perspiration into the open interior region. An absorbent layer is positioned within the open interior region of the sealed cover layer, and the absorbent layer is formed from a hydrophilic material. An adhesive layer is formed on the second surface of the sealed cover layer, so that the adhesive layer releasably adheres the absorbent pad to a lower edge of one cup of the underwire brassiere. The absorbent pad is dimensioned and configured to completely cover an underwire of the cup so that the absorbent pad absorbs perspiration of the wearer and provides protective padding over the underwire.

  • Patent number: 8056757
Abstract: A hot beverage cup and sleeve bring together two modes of heat transfer, conduction and radiation. The sleeve has an inner face with a plurality of high reflectivity surfaces for radiating heat back to the cup. The sleeve also has a plurality of insulating members for containing insulating air. Each of the insulating members is positioned to space the high reflectivity surfaces away from the cup. A low emissivity film can be adhered to the cup without touching the insulating members. The film can also be attached to the sleeve facing but spaced from the high reflectivity surfaces. This cup and sleeve arrangements minimize thermal contact and reduce heat transfer. Thus, the hot beverage cup and sleeve protect a person's hand as well as extend the time of keeping the beverage hot.

  • Patent number: 8056527
Abstract: The split-chamber rotary engine includes a rotary power module having a case with a circular rotor installed therein. At least one, and preferably two or more combustion chambers are formed peripherally in the rotor. The generally circular rotor cavity of the case includes at least one, and preferably two or more, peripheral expansion chambers. A corresponding number of reciprocating compressor modules are installed upon the case, with the compressor module axis being aligned generally tangentially to the rotor periphery. The compressor module includes concentric reciprocating pistons and valves that compress the air charge and transfer the compressed charge to the rotary power module for power production. The compressor module is driven purely by combustion gas pressure acting upon its inboard piston. No mechanical linkage exists from power module to compressor module. The engine may include multiple rotor and case rows, as desired.

  • Patent number: 8055571
Abstract: The investment liquidation and purchase adjustment method is an investment model for open-ended investments that takes into account the net asset value (NAV) of the mutual fund and an accumulated stock brokerage transaction commission fees. The accumulated commission fees are added to the net asset value per share prior to the purchase of shares of the mutual fund. Alternatively, the accumulated commission fees are subtracted from the net asset value per share prior to the liquidation of the shares. These additional fees flow into the assets of the mutual fund. As accumulated brokerage transaction commissions change each day because of the trading of the positions in the mutual fund, the brokerage transaction commission's percentage change on a daily basis, too. This also solves the problem of maintaining the true asset value for existing shareholders when there are share liquidations by existing shareholders, protecting the true asset value for the remaining existing shareholders.

  • Patent number: 8051883
Abstract: The industrial container filling lance is an elongate pipe having a hose connector allowing connection of a hose from a fluid source to the lance, a ball valve for regulating flow of fluid through the pipe, and a fill spout for delivery of the fluid to an industrial container. The lance is disposed atop a hinged slide clamp attached to a telescoping lance support assembly, which extends vertically from a pedestal base. The elongate locking handle, rotated in the open position, allows the lance to be swung upward away from a fill container, and alternatively allows the lance to be longitudinally positioned precisely over a container to be filled. The elongate locking handle can be rotated over the lance to prevent movement of the lance during the container filling procedure. A rotating lock collar on the support stand assembly secures the support height while allowing angular rotation of the lance.

  • Patent number: 8051955
Abstract: The elevator alert includes an elevator pit can (10) and a float switch (240) disposed therein. The float switch (240) produces an alarm-activating signal when the pit can (10) is nearly full and overflow of oil into the pit is imminent. An alarm control unit (200) takes alarm-activating signals from one or more float switch-equipped pit cans (10) to operate a relay (405a, 405b) to drive various kinds of alarms and/or elevator controls. A loudspeaker (210) on the pit can (10) emits an audible alarm when the float switch (240) is closed. Optionally, a remote alarm (300) is provided, the remote alarm (300) being activated when the remote alarm float switch (250) is closed. Users of the elevator, such as passenger or building occupants, would hear the audible alarm and call maintenance to thereby prevent an oil spill. The device can be retrofit to existing elevator pit cans.

  • Patent number: 8052423
Abstract: The tunneling method for dental block grafting is surgical method for increasing the thickness of the soft tissue of the mouth prior to performing block grafting procedures for dental implants. The method includes cutting a pair of incisions in the mucosa. A tunnel is formed through the mucosa which extends between, and connects, the pair of incisions. The tunnel is then extended coronally to undermine tissue covering the recipient site. An acellular dermal matrix is then sutured to an exposed end of a dental implement pulled through the tunnel to position the acellular dermal matrix within the tunnel. The acellular dermal matrix is then positioned over the recipient site using a periosteal elevator, and the acellular dermal matrix is fixed coronally by suspension sutures. The pair of incisions are closed with interrupted sutures, and a block graft is fixed to the recipient site by a pair of titanium screws.
