  • Patent number: 8169293
Abstract: The fuse element retaining device is an L-shaped bracket having a long leg and a short leg. The short leg has a notch and a plurality of vent holes surrounding the notch. At least one clip is provided for mounting the long leg of the L-shaped bracket to a fuse holder barrel. The fuse holder barrel has a top end and a bottom end. When the long leg of the L-shaped bracket is mounted to the fuse holder barrel, the short leg is positioned with the vent holes over the bottom end of the fuse holder barrel. The vent holes are for venting propellant gases during a discharge when a fuse element blows. The notch receives a part of the fuse element from the fuse holder barrel and minimizes projectiles from the fuse element heading towards the ground at very high speeds when the fuse element blows during the discharge.

  • Patent number: 8167323
Abstract: The handcart has various embodiments, each embodiment having a pair of larger wheels at the back of the load-carrying platform and a rear axle located above the plane of at least the forward portion of the platform. Smaller caster wheels are mounted on arms extending forward and outward from the forward corners of the platform. The outward ends of the arms are displaced upwardly to place the platform bottom only very slightly higher than the bottoms of the forward casters, thus increasing stability by lowering the center of gravity of the cart and contents, and facilitating loading and unloading of the cart due to the very low platform. The cart need not be tilted rearward to lift the platform from the floor, but may be pushed over the underlying surface with the load-carrying platform remaining level and with all four wheels rolling over the underlying surface.

  • Patent number: 8170203
Abstract: The message authentication code with elliptic polynomial hopping provides methods for the generation of message authentication codes (MACs) utilizing elliptic curves, which are based on the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem. The elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem is well known to be a computationally “difficult” or “hard” problem, thus providing enhanced security for the MACs. Different elliptic polynomials are used for different blocks of the same plaintext, each elliptic polynomial for each message block being selected at random using an initial secret key and a random number generator.

  • Patent number: 8165855
Abstract: The method of modeling fluid flow over porous blocks utilizes heat transfer and fluid flow equations and a discretization numerical method to model heat transfer rates in a square cavity containing a pair of porous blocks. Fluid flow and heat transfer are modeled within a square cavity having an inlet and an outlet formed therethrough. The inlet and outlet are positioned opposite one another along a diagonal of the square cavity. A laminar airflow is introduced at the cavity inlet while a constant heat flux is maintained in the pair of porous blocks.

  • Patent number: 8165287
Abstract: The cryptographic hash functions using of elliptic polynomial polynomials are based on the elliptic polynomial discrete logarithm problem, which is well known as a computationally hard problem. The hash functions are based on the elliptic polynomial equation in their generation, where different elliptic polynomials are used for different blocks of the same plain text. Particularly, the hash functions use an elliptic polynomial with more than one independent x-coordinate. More specifically, a set of elliptic polynomial points are used that satisfy an elliptic polynomial equation with more than one independent x-coordinate which is defined over a finite field F.

  • Patent number: 8157443
Abstract: The disposable radiograph cassette cover is formed of two sheets of x-ray transparent pliable material having a low coefficient of friction to facilitate sliding the cover and contained cassette beneath a patient for the radiography procedure. The cover includes distinctively colored integral radiopaque anatomical markers disposed over a portion of the film or plate in the cassette to shield that portion of the underlying plate during the procedure. The plate is thus automatically marked during the procedure to show the side of the body where the cassette and cover were placed. The cassette is sealed within the cover by an adhesive flap, with the adhesive and/or release sheet also being color-coded to indicate the side to which the cover is to be used. The cassette is removed from the cover by tearing off the adhesively sealed end along provided perforations.

  • Patent number: 8151939
Abstract: The folding sawhorse brackets are each formed of a single sheet of flat stock, formed to affix a rail therein and pivotally attach two legs thereto. All embodiments accept stock dimensions of lumber or other suitable materials for the rail and legs. A first configuration has two brackets, with one having its two leg pivots closer to the rail than the other. The closer legs fold immediately adjacent to the rail with the opposite legs folding outboard of the closer legs, with all legs and the rail lying in a compact parallel relationship when folded. A second configuration has two identical brackets, each bracket having one closer and one more distant pivot point from the rail. When two such brackets are assembled at opposite rail ends, they are in mirror image to one another with one closer and one more distant leg folding on each side of the rail.

  • Patent number: 8151726
Abstract: The traphouse safety flag is an electromechanical safety device mounted at the roofline of a traphouse intended to replace the traditional safety cone or cloth flag that is commonly used to indicate to the shooters that the traphouse is occupied and shooting cannot commence. A “no flag” detent position energizes the normal trap shooting control mechanism while indicating to the shooters that the traphouse and personnel are secure. The safety flag obscures the entrance to the traphouse in a shooting position and if the flag is moved out of the no flag detent position for any reason, the trap shooting control mechanism is deactivated and will not accept a launch command from the shooter.

  • Patent number: 8147926
Abstract: Laser gas assisted nitriding of alumina surfaces is a process for applying a nitride coating to an alumina or alumina-based composite surface. The method involves the step of applying a phenolic resin to the alumina surface in a thin, uniform film. The resin-coated alumina surface is maintained in a controlled chamber at about 8 bar pressure at a temperature of about 175° C. for about 2 hours. The surface is then heated at about 400° C. for several hours in an argon atmosphere. This converts the phenolic resin to carbon. The carbon coated alumina surface is then scanned by a 2 kW laser beam while applying nitrogen under pressure. The end result is the conversion of the alumina at the surface to aluminum nitride, the oxygen being released in the form of carbon dioxide.

  • Patent number: 8150160
Abstract: The automatic Arabic text image optical character recognition method includes training a text recognition system using Arabic printed text, using the produced models for classification of newly unseen Arabic scanned text, and generating the corresponding textual information. Scanned images of Arabic text and copies of minimal Arabic text are used in the training sessions. Each page is segmented into lines. Features of each line are extracted and input to Hidden Markov Model (HMM). All training data training features are used. HMM runs training algorithms to produce codebook and language models. In the classification stage new Arabic text is input in scanned form. Line segmentation where lines are extracted is passed through. In the feature stage, line features are extracted and input to the classification stage. In the classification stage the corresponding Arabic text is generated.
