  • Patent number: 7845886
Abstract: The tiedown system has a single tensile member with cargo attachments on each end thereof. The tensile member passes through a series of guides affixed about the perimeter of the carrier (flatbed truck or trailer, etc.). The ends of the tensile member are secured removably to the rear of the cargo, e.g., the cargo rack of an all terrain vehicle (ATV). The medial portion of the tensile member is connected to a winch on the front of the ATV or other cargo, or alternatively the medial portion of the tensile member is passed through an opening on the front of the cargo, e.g., the forward cargo rack of the ATV, and connected to a winch anchored to the cargo bed of the carrier. The winch is actuated to draw up the tensile member, simultaneously pulling the rear and front of the cargo securely against the cargo bed of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 7845093
Abstract: The tape measure apparatus has a rule blade that is retractably stored in the tape measure apparatus and protrudes when extended during use. For measurements, the rule blade has graduated indicia markings along the rule blade. An end-piece attached to the rule blade has an aperture for receiving a marking instrument to mark and scribe on a work piece and a blade slot for receiving and supporting a blade. There is also a protective shield guide that protects the fingers from slivers and cuts. It has a pivot attachment between the protective shield and the guide. The pivot moves the protective shield into a stored position generally parallel to the rule blade, and in a working position generally perpendicular the rule blade. The guide is slidable along the rule blade. The entire protective shield guide slidably moves into the housing. Thus, the entire protective shield guide disappears and is protected from any outside force by being inside the housing when not in use.

  • Patent number: 7845949
Abstract: The ultrasound training mannequin (100) is a device that provides a realistic medical training device for use by medical personnel, especially those in the field of emergency medicine, to gain experience in applying and analyzing the results of common ultrasound examinations. The mannequin (100) comprises a life-size model of the male torso. The mannequin (100) has a simulated human skin (20) and tissue structure (22) made of a silicone. Internal organs, such as the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, gall bladder, urinary bladder, and spleen are placed inside the model in their normal occurring relative positions. Heavier organs are modeled with a variable density silicone material to simulate the actual sonic density of these organs. The lungs are modeled with a variable density foam material to simulate the sonic density of actual lungs. The mannequin (100) also includes artificial venous and arterial channels emanating from and terminating at the heart.

  • Patent number: 7846390
Abstract: The apparatus for measuring concentrations of fuel mixtures using depth-resolved laser-induced fluorescence is a fluorometer equipped with a sample container holder that is movable in the path of the beam from the light source. Fluorescent emissions from the sample mixture pass at 90° to the excitation light path through a slit that is narrow enough that the emission intensity is effectively produced by a thin layer of the sample and focused on a monochromator, with successive thin layers receiving nonuniform excitation radiation due to reduction of intensity along the excitation light source path with increasing depth penetration and due to reabsorption of emitted fluorescence from adjacent layers. The method has a first mode in which the emission spectrum is scanned at a fixed depth, and a second mode in which the sample is moved relative to the emission monochromator slit to vary the depth while keeping the emission wavelength fixed.

  • Patent number: 7841539
Abstract: The smart card with random temporary account number generation provides an authenticating system coupled with an access or transaction card, such as a credit card. The card includes first and second memory storage media, with the first memory medium containing a plurality of temporary account or authentication numbers. The card also has a biometric sensor, such as a fingerprint scanner, and the second memory stores the biometric parameters of the authorized user. A processor compares the biometric parameters with the measured biometric readings to enable the card. The processor has a random number generator, allowing for the randomized selection of one of the account numbers stored in the first memory, thus providing a temporary account number for the transaction. A remote site includes an identical random number generator and set of account numbers, allowing the temporary account number to be verified and then discarded, following the transaction.

  • Patent number: 7837576
Abstract: The two-faced golf putter includes a putter head having a putting face and a chipping face disposed on at least one side of the putter head, an angled toe, an angled heel and a bottom sole. Both the angled toe and heel include a respective setup guide to assist the user in properly positioning over the putter. A sight alignment groove is formed on the top of the putter head to help aim the ball. An elongated shaft extends upwardly from a centered bore in the top surface of the putter head, which improves balance and feel to the putter. The top portion of the shaft includes an elongated handle to accommodate a wide range of user grip sizes and techniques. To further assist accurate setup placement of the putter head, an alignment dot is disposed behind the shaft on top of the putter head. • Patent number: 7832681
Abstract: The dispenser for coiled materials (10, 10a) allows the installation of a coil of material (C) without unrolling the material and then rewinding it onto the dispenser A rotationally stationary base (12) has a rotating reel mounted on the base. The reel has a permanently installed flange and a removable flange (26) secured to the assembly by an axle. The removable flange (26) includes a spring to hold the removable flange securely against the coil of material (C) between the flanges (22, 26), thereby precluding significant looseness or play of a partially depleted coil. The assembly is preferably sufficiently narrow axially to permit passage between conventionally spaced sixteen-inch ? on-center wall studs. The removable flange (26) may be removed, along with any centering guides, and a larger spool of material placed upon the permanent flange. A roll-around caddy may be used for dispensing larger and heavier coiled material.

  • Patent number: 7827720
Abstract: The autoloading handgun is a short recoil, locked breech, semiautomatic service pistol. A rear located safety latch is provided for ambidextrous usage. A hold-open lever opens the pistol after the last round in the magazine is fired. A recoil spring guide rod, which alone is used for field stripping, is provided. Only three moving elements, a trigger, trigger bar, and a striker are required for firing. The hold-open lever is formed from a single piece lever acting laterally and cooperating with the magazine follower. A standard Browning swinging barrel lock is utilized wherein at the instant of firing, barrel and breechblock remain locked with each other, recoil backward for a small distance, and then swing vertically away from each other via cam elements. The swinging barrel lock construction has no intermediate parts.

  • Patent number: 7819553
Abstract: The modular light strand kit has decorative light strand segments having a plurality of predetermined lengths to achieve a customized length for a desired application. Lighted strand segments have varying lengths and number of lights per strand segment. Strand length is customized by plugging individual strand segments together. Segments are mixed and matched to obtain a customized number of lights. Each strand segment has a male locking waterproof plug on one end and, at the other end, a female locking waterproof receptacle in the same covering that houses the last light on the strand. Lightless wire segments having different predetermined lengths are included and have the same male locking waterproof plug on one end and a straight locking waterproof female plug on the other end. The lightless segments function as spacers where lights are not desired. A common mains adapter plug provides power to all strands in use.

  • Patent number: 7818783
Abstract: The global access control system and method presents a solution to synchronizing the physical access devices that federal agencies must try to meet Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 201 requirements. The method encompasses wire and wireless technology, IP Security (IPSec), the assignment of IPv6 addresses to every device, integrating with logical access control systems, and providing a homogeneous audit and control format. As part of FIPS 201, Government identification badges (Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards) will include an IPv6 address that uniquely identifies every card holder. By assigning an IPv6 address to every access device and using the card holder's IPv6 address, every access device can be used for global access control. Moreover, common and interoperable audit records throughout an entire enterprise (logical and physical) are possible.
