Such compositions can be prepared if a suitable dispersing agent is premixed with the suds controlling agent prior to incorporation in the liquid detergent composition.
Abstract: High yields of 2,2'-oxodisuccinate are secured by reacting maleate and malate in aqueous alkaline media containing mixtures of particular divalent (e.g., Ca.sup.2+) and solubilizing monovalent (e.g., Na.sup.+) cations. In a preferred embodiment, the process has both an elevated temperature primary reaction step and one or more low temperature maturation steps. Yields of 2,2'-oxodisuccinate are increased and formation of fumarate byproduct is minimized.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for separating mycotoxin-contaminated grains, kernels, seeds and nuts, from uncontaminated whole grain seeds, whole or split kernel nuts and seeds to obtain a substantially uncontaminated supply source of these foods. The separate contaminated source can be further processed to lower the mycotoxin contamination. The process involves the separation of the mycotoxin or aflatoxin-containing materials by floating the aflatoxin-contaminated foods in a liquid having a specific gravity of from about 0.9 to about 1.2. A highly preferred process uses dynamic flotation.

Abstract: Deaerated oil having a level of less than about 0.10% by volume of dissolved oxygen is heated at a temperature between about 530.degree. F. (277.degree. C.) and about 650.degree. F. (343.degree. C.) and stripped with a stripping medium with a molar ratio of stripping medium to oil of between about 0.05 and about 9.7, at an absolute pressure of between about 0.5 mm Hg and about 50 mm Hg., for a time of between about 5 seconds and about 15 minutes. The combination of stripping parameters is selected so that the stripping factor "f" is greater than about 0.6, where f=KP.sub.v S/PO, where K is between about 1 and about 200, and where P.sub.v (the vapor pressure of the component to be stripped) is not more than about 0.1 mm Hg at 500.degree. F. (277.degree. C.) and not more than about 2.0 mm Hg at 600.degree. F. (343.degree. C.).

Abstract: The invention relates to foods that contain both sucrose polyesters and vegetable proteins. The foods are effective in reducing blood plasma cholesterol levels. In particular, the invention is a fat-containing and protein-containing food composition comprising fat ingredients, protein ingredients, and non-fat and non-protein ingredients; wherein at least 1 gram per serving of the total fat consists essentially of a sucrose fatty acid ester having at least 4 fatty acid ester groups, each fatty acid having from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms; and wherein at least 1.5 grams per serving (by protein content ) of the total protein comprises vegetable protein. The invention is also a method for lowering plasma cholesterol levels comprising administering to a human susceptible to or afflicted with hypercholesterolemia the present food compositions, wherein the compositions are administered to provide at least about 0.

Abstract: Latex compositions suitable for applications requiring surface hydrophilicity are disclosed. The compositions comprise: (1) a liquid phase selected from the group consisting of water, water-miscible solvents and mixtures thereof; and (2) latex particles dispersed in the liquid phase. The particles comprise an elastomeric hydrophobic core and a hydrophilic "shell" which is integral with the core and which colloidally stabilizes the latex particles in the liquid phase. The shell comprises moieties L-Q attached to the core, wherein Q is a nonionic group end-capped with a cationic moiety, and L is a linking unit. When the liquid phase is removed, the particles are capable of forming an elastomeric film having a substantially permanent, cationic, hydrophilic surface. The cationic moiety helps the latex particles become attracted to anionic surfaces such as cellulosic materials.
Abstract: A shipping carton or container that can be readily opened and converted into a display tray without having to use a knife or other sharp instrument. The carton is formed from a blank having four sidewalls and hingedly connected top and bottom end panels. The sidewalls have a line of severance running circumferentially around the carton that defines a continuous butt joint separating the carton into a top cover section and a bottom tray section. A wide tape having a narrow tear filament or strip attached to its inner surface is adhesively attached to the sidewalls' outer surface such that it bridges the butt joint and holds the carton's top and bottom sections together, the tear strip being substantially superimposed over the butt joint. Pulling the tear filament neatly splits the wide tape and separates the carton's top and bottom sections.

Abstract: An absorbent pad having a densification pattern comprising relatively low density tuft regions which are separated and surrounded by channels. The channels further comprise storage regions and transport regions wherein one of said storage regions or said transport regions separate and surround the other of said storage regions or said transport regions. The transport regions have a density greater than the density of the storage regions which, in turn, have a density greater than the tuft regions.
