  • Patent number: 6757564
Abstract: A method of scanning and treating areas of the human body with transcutaneous low intensity direct current. A device is used which comprises a source of low intensity direct current, means for controlling the parameters of the current, a cathode terminal, and an anode terminal. A scanning method is used to determine the proper amperage for the treating method. In the scanning method, the cathode and anode are applied to the skin of a patient and increasing strengths of current are applied. The strength of the current is noted when the patient is first aware of the current and when the patient is made uncomfortable by the current. These two values are averaged to determine the operating current. The treatment method is carried out by applying the anode to an activity point identified in the specification, applying the cathode to the area to be treated, and applying the operating current.

  • Patent number: 6736288
Abstract: The technical field is that of simultaneous dispensing of viscous materials. Many compositions comprise viscous components which must be kept separate until they are used. Known methods of application of separate components do not guarantee proper ratios. This invention solves this problem by presenting a single aerosol container (4) having a multi-valve body (8) wherein the valves (10, 12) are activated by a single actuator (26) and the viscous materials are kept separate until used. The system (2) may use multiple collapsible bags (16), a barrier liner (42), a dip tube (46), and a spray-any-direction valve (50) having an omnidirectional attachment (60) which contains a check valve container (122) made up of a constricted lower end (132), a top surface (134), a lateral opening (136), and a check ball (138) for opening and closing passageways.

  • Patent number: 6701851
Abstract: A height-adjustable, tiltable stand for a laptop computer or reading material. The stand contains two side legs, each of which contains an upper surface made of a distal section parallel to the bottom and a proximal section which is at an angle to the distal section. The legs contain a centrally located hole near the upper surface. The top contains a lip for maintaining material on the top when the top is tilted. The top contains a plurality of holes for allowing heat generated by a computer to dissipate. Each side edge of the top contains depending supports having centrally located slots. Tightness controllers made up of a knob, a bolt, and a nut pass through the holes in the legs and the depending support to hold the top to the legs and to allow the top to be tilted on the legs.

  • Patent number: 6520095
Abstract: Shelf support system in which “T”-shaped mid base members and support members and “L”-shaped end base members and support members have inner sections which contact and hold a shelf board and outer sections containing alternating extensions and indentions so that adjacent base members and support members interlock with each other. The shelf system may thus be assembled without tools. The rear aspects of base members are angled forwardly and downwardly and the side aspect of end base members are angled inwardly and downwardly to allow the shelf system to clear a baseboard and/or molding along a wall so that the main portion of the shelf unit may fit flush against the wall. The shelf support system is suitable for use with standard shelf boards of any length.

  • Patent number: 6514008
Abstract: A kit for connecting and sealing a manhole cover frame to the upper surface of a chimney and a method of using the kit. The kit contains a spacer which may be cut to the proper length and to make allowances for any grade in the surface, a top flange which holds the top of the spacer to the manhole cover frame, and a bottom flange which holds the spacer to the upper surface of the chimney. The surfaces of the flanges which contact the lower surface manhole cover frame and the upper surface of the chimney contain coaxial recesses for holding butyl rubber sealant material in rope form. Watertight seals may be made with the use of light pressure. Additionally, the lower flange may be connected to the chimney with bolts. The surfaces of the flanges contacting the spacer contain a plurality of coaxial protrusions. • Patent number: 6488252
Abstract: A process of making a foldable, portable bookstand on which readers may place their reading material. When folded, the bookstand appears to be a single oblong piece. When unfolded, the side view of the bookstand resembles the letter “X”. The bookstand is made from two top pieces and two bottom pieces. The spine of a book may be placed along a space between top pieces. The bookstand is made by providing two bottom pieces having tapered extensions and two top pieces having tapered extensions and adjoining the extensions of corresponding bottom and top pieces, preferably with dowels. The advantage of the present invention is that the bookstand may be simply and economically made of four separate pieces using dowels, yet maintain the appearance of a product which has been carved from a single piece of material.

  • Patent number: 6398411
Abstract: A pleated neckdown bag for lining a receptacle is disclosed wherein the bag is made of a flexible plastic film. The disclosed bag has one or more pleat portions (18) fixed at points around the mouth portion (26) of the bag to reduce the circumference of the mouth portion relative to the circumference of the body portion (14). The reduced circumference mouth portion of the neckdown bag can be fitted over a supporting receptacle. The top portion (12) of the bag is thereby more securely held to the support, and the mouth portion is more securely held in an open state, since the narrowed mouth portion of the bag can better engage a support such as the rim of a waste bin. Bag embodiments having flat and flat rectangular constructions, convenient for manufacture, storage, shipping, and dispensing, are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a tabbed neckdown bag embodiment with a tab (52) modifying means to advantageously modify stress and strain at and near the conjunction of a seam and mouth portion of a neckdown bag.
