  • Patent number: 4835336
Abstract: A process for converting a C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 paraffinic hydrocarbon feed to aromatics by contacting the feed with a noble metal/low acidity medium pore size zeolite catalyst in a conversion zone by modifying the noble metal component of the catalyst to its sulfide form by either presulfiding the catalyst or adding at least one of H.sub.2 S, SO.sub.2 or an organic sulfur compound to the feed in an amount effective to suppress hydrogenolysis and increase aromatic selectivity of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4822941
Abstract: A process is provided for producing aromatic compounds which comprises contacting under conversion conditions a feed comprising aliphatic hydrocarbons, with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst in its acid form having a Constraint Index in the range of about 1 to 12 and prepared by crystallizing a composition comprising an aqueous suspension of a precipitated amorphous silica or aluminosilicate precursor composed of a preponderant number of particles having a particle size in the range of about 1 to 500 microns, said composition being free of any organic or inorganic directing agent and containing a dissolved alumina source if a precipitated amorphous silica is utilized or a precipitated amorphous aluminosilicate is utilized containing less than the desired amount of aluminum. The catalyst is advantageously subjected to a thermal or steam treatment, and/or is impregnated with gallium before being used in the conversion.

  • Patent number: 4818738
Abstract: Octane and improvement in catalytic cracking processes can be attained by the addition to conventional cracking catalysts of small amounts of additive catalyst comprising a class of zeolites characterized by a silica to alumina mole ratio greater than about 12 and a Constraint Index of about 1 to 12 bound in a matrix chosen such that the matrix component forms a thermodynamically favored compound with selected cations. Sustained catalytic activity is achieved by pre-exchanging the catalyst to a high level of selected cation loading. By extending the active life of the additive catalyst, markedly lower makeup catalyst addition rates are required.

  • Patent number: 4788364
Abstract: An improved two-step process for the conversion of lower molecular weight paraffins, the process comprising contacting in a first step a C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkane-rich feedstock with a siliceous zeolite catalyst in a primary fluidized bed reaction zone under high temperature dehydrogenation conditions to obtain an intermediate product comprising oligomerizable olefinic hydrocarbons and aromatics; and then contacting in a second step the intermediate product with a siliceous zeolite catalyst in a secondary fluidized bed reaction zone under low temperature oligomerization conditions to obtain a final product comprising gasoline boiling range aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.

  • Patent number: 4784746
Abstract: A crude oil is upgraded by thermal treatment at a temperature of at least 400.degree. C. under at least autogenous pressure and preferably from 100 to 1000 psig for about 20 to 30 minutes in order to increase the proportion of distillable components in the crude. The improvement is attributed to alkylation of lower molecular weight components, especially aromatics, by alkyl groups derived from the high boiling component of the crude. The process reduces the nondistillable residue and enables subsequent processing to be carried out with lower gas and coke make. The process may be operated with a whole crude or a topped crude as feed.
