  • Patent number: 8078897
Abstract: This invention is a power management scheme for a shared memory multiprocessor system which splits the control logic between the master-specific logic and memory bank logic. Power-down is initiated from a central power-down controller. This central power-down controller informs the master and target specific logic. Further memory accesses are blocked. All pending activities complete. The central controller then proceeds to power down the memory and informs the master and target specific logic upon completion. No requests for wakeup are initiated by master-specific logic from the time a power-down request is received until the completion of power-down.

  • Patent number: 8072918
Abstract: A method is described for operating a cellular network, where the cellular network uses a plurality of frequency division multiplexing (FDM) bands for wireless communication from user equipment (UE) to a base station (NodeB). At least one band-specific cell parameter is computed for at least one the plurality of FDM bands by a serving NodeB. The band-specific cell parameters are transmitted from the NodeB serving a first cell to a NodeB serving a second cell. The band-specific cell parameters may be computed in response to scheduling information and/or channel specific measurements made by the NodeB. A UE receives a first Power Configuration, a Second Power Configuration, and a Scheduling Message indicative of an FDM band from the set comprising at least from First FDM band and Second FDM band. The UE transmits with the First Power Configuration if the Scheduling Message was indicative of First FDM band, and with the Second Power Configuration otherwise.

  • Patent number: 8068466
Abstract: A transmission of information from a secondary to a primary node occurs in a plurality of N logical time durations. The transmission from the secondary to primary node in a wireless network is performed by first receiving an allocation of M>1 reverse link channels for transmission of N>0 information elements. N information elements are produced. A group of K (possibly only one) reverse link channels is selected from the M allocated reverse link channels, using at least one of the N produced information elements, wherein the group of K reverse link channels comprises at least one channel, such that 0<K<M. A signal is produced using the produced information elements and the produced signal is transmitted on the selected group of K reverse link channels. Embodiments of the invention apply to transmission of ACKNAK and SRI.

  • Patent number: 8067955
Abstract: This invention is a method of operating a system having multiple finite state machines where each finite state machine generating a ready signal when its operation is complete. This invention senses the multiple ready signals and waits until all the finite state machines generate the ready signal. This waiting can be accomplished with a precharge-conditional discharge circuit used for voting.

  • Patent number: 8065505
Abstract: This invention provides flexible load latency to pipeline cache misses. A memory controller selects the output of one of a set of cascades inserted execute stages. This selection may be controlled by a latency field in a load instruction or by a latency specification of a prior instruction. This invention is useful in the great majority of cases where the code can tolerate incremental increases in load latency for a reduction in cache miss penalty.

  • Patent number: 8065506
Abstract: This invention is an application specific integrated processor to implement the complete fixed-rate DRX signal processing paths (FDRX) for a reconfigurable processor-based multi-mode 3G wireless application. This architecture is based on the baseline 16-bit RISC architecture with addition functional blocks (ADU) tightly coupled with the based processor's data path. Each ADU accelerates a computation-intensive tasks in FDRX signal path, such as multi-tap FIRs, IIRs, complex domain and vectored data processing. The ADUs are controlled through custom instructions based on the load/store architecture. The whole FDRX data path can be easily implemented by the software employing these custom instructions.

  • Patent number: 8064546
Abstract: This invention is a method for preamble detection with estimation of UE timing advance (TA) and channel quality information (CQI) which uses a sliding window to detect the preamble and estimate user timing advance and channel quality information. The second terminal of the source/drain channel of each subsequent transistor is connected to a backgate of a previous transistor. The backgate of the last transistor is connected to a supply voltage level. The second terminals of the subsequent transistors may be connected to corresponding buffer capacitors. The backgate of the last transistor may be supplied with the input during sampling and the supply voltage level at other times.

  • Patent number: 8051399
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention selects a maximum voltage and a minimum voltage in respective sub-intervals of a timing window in which an output of a cell is expected to switch, and performing timing analysis based on the selected maximum voltage and the selected minimum voltage. By using appropriate smaller sub-intervals within the timing window, more optimal physical layout of the design may be obtained. In an embodiment, the sub-intervals equal a cell delay, i.e., a delay between an input change to an output change for a corresponding cell. According to another aspect of the present invention, the sub-interval for later cells in a timing path are modified based on a modified timing window of previous cells in the timing path, to reduce the computational requirement.

  • Patent number: 8019086
Abstract: A method for creating a stereophonic sound image out of a monaural signal combines two sub-methods. Comb filters decorrelate the left and right channel signals. Intra-aural difference cues, such as an Intra-Aural Time Difference (ITD) and an Intra-aural Intensity Difference (IID) separated channels. Strict complementary (SC) linear phase FIR filters divide the incoming monaural signal into three frequency band separation. The comb filters and ITD/IID applied to the low and high frequency bands create a simulated stereo sound image for the instruments other than human voice. Listening tests indicate that this invention provides a wider stereo sound image than previous methods, while retaining human voice centralization. Since the comb filter solution and ITD/IID solution can share the same filter bank, the computational cost of this method is almost the same as the previous method.

  • Patent number: 8019598
Abstract: This invention improves the perceived quality of frequency-domain time scale modification by selection of spectral bands used in phase locking based upon a Bark scale according to the variation in human hearing frequency response. A spectral peak is identified for each band. At these peaks the phases are rotated using the phase vocoder algorithm. For a few spectral lines near these peaks, the phase differences are copied from the non-rotated spectrum. The number selected is preferably 4. Remaining spectral lines within each spectral band located farther from the peak are phase rotated using the phase vocoder algorithm. The boundaries of the spectral bands may be adjusted based upon the digital audio data to maintain important frequency groups within the same spectral band.

  • Patent number: 8020126
Abstract: The links and chains (LNC) of this invention is an applications verification and validation (AVV) methodology. LNC is a hierarchical and systematic approach emphasizing conservation and reuse of effort expended. LNC creates objective metrics for validation. This invention ensures that the device will work in a system environment. LNC is an independent and complementary validation of the design before committing release to tape-out. The chip support library (CSL) and diagnostics used by LNC are natural outputs of the validation and are thus gating items to tape-out release. This ensures a fully tested device.

  • Patent number: 8013911
Abstract: A wide dynamic range image sensor method combines the response of high-gain sensing cells and low-gain sensing cells with better linearity than the prior art. A search is made in successive central regions within the response curve of the high-gain and low-gain cells to find a highest slope linear fit. This highest slope and the corresponding offset are used in mixing the high-gain and low-gain responses to achieve a wide dynamic range.

  • Patent number: 8001427
Abstract: A method and system of indexing into trace data based on entries in a log buffer. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are methods comprising executing a traced program on a target device. The traced program writes entries to a log buffer within the target device, and the traced program also contemporaneously writes an index value for each entry to a register. The index value written to the register becomes part of trace data regarding the traced program and correlates each entry to a respective portion of the trace data. Using the information one may either or both: display on a display device a portion of the trace data (the portion selected based on selecting an entry from the log buffer); or display on the display a portion of the log buffer (the portion selected based on selecting an entry from the trace data).
