  • Patent number: 6594672
Abstract: Improved techniques for generating multidimensional output using a relational source database are disclosed. The techniques allow generation of instructions needed to access the source database in order to produce multidimensional output. The instructions do not need to be stored and can be generated dynamically. As a result, relational databases can be accessed without requiring additional programming and/or changes to the relational database. The source database can be a relational database that is accessed by a variety of conceptual accessing techniques (e.g., SQL). A Meta-data manager can be used to access the source database, as well as interact with a Meta-data modeler and a Meta-data outliner. The Meta-data modeler can be used to define a Meta-model. The Meta-data outliner can be used to create one or more Meta-outlines.

  • Patent number: 6594600
Abstract: A method of calibrating a camera (4, 22) disposed on a mobile support (21). The camera takes an image of a test object formed of at least three marks appearing in the field of the camera, and analysis of the image gives the initial position and orientation of the camera with respect to that of the test object, which are known in an application. The support (21) can then be moved towards an object (28) of which the camera takes images. As the movements of the support are measured accurately, analysis of the images of the object gives the precise position and orientation of the object with respect to the camera and with respect to the test object. One application is the recording of road signs (28) in order to compose databases for network management or for an on-board navigation system.

  • Patent number: 6583395
Abstract: The microwave applicator for microwaves outputs from a guide (1) comprises an envelope (3) that forces microwaves to converge towards a focal point (16) by means of a complementary central reflector (4). A fraction of the waves reaches this point after reflection on two facets (11, 13), usually curved and concave, of the reflector (4) and the envelope (3), while the other fraction is reflected three times on three facets (10, 12 and 14), the last two facets of which form part of the envelope and one of which is concave for focussing. These devices can be used for removing a concrete surface, because the microwaves cause vaporisation at the focal point (16).

  • Patent number: 6536556
Abstract: Noise reduction sandwich panel, notably for an aircraft turbojet engine. In order to produce a noise reduction sandwich panel having a structure with two degrees of freedom, inserted separative components (20) are placed into the hexagonal cells (16) of the unique waffle core of the panel. More specifically, the separative components (20) have an substantially circular external peripheral edge, which allows them to be easily assembled, in spite of the deformations of the walls (18) of the cells (16) due to manufacturing tolerances and to the optional forming of the waffle core. Advantageously, several separative components (20) are supported by a same positioning unit (22), which then allows relative displacement between the separative components.

  • Patent number: 6539477
Abstract: A system and method of implementing thereof that maps and condenses system control using reachable state control words is described. The system includes a control logic block, a look-up table which stores N-bit reachable state control words derived from an implementation description N-bit control signal, and a logic hardware block. The control logic block accesses the look-up table with a M-bit control word address. The accessed look-up table outputs a N-bit reachable state control word which is used to control the logic hardware block so as to simulate functions as defined by a user input description. A method for implementing the system is performed by synthesizing the user input description to generate an implementation description which describes a control model of the system in terms of a control logic block driving a logic hardware block with a N-bit control signal. The implementation description is analyzed to determine the reachable states of the N-bit control signal.

  • Patent number: 6533521
Abstract: Access to the interior of a substrate storage pod in which substrates such as semiconductor wafers are stored is gained using an access device provided within a micro environment enclosure. The access device has a telescoping enclosure door which serves to control access to the interior of the storage pod from the interior of the enclosure. A pre-aligner is mounted to the enclosure door, and substrates are passed through the pre-aligner as they are retrieved from the storage pod. The pre-aligner detects and adjusts the orientation of the substrates as necessary for processing. The level of the pre-aligner is incrementally adjusted to match that of a current substrate by incrementally adjusting the level of the enclosure door.
