  • Patent number: 4981430
Abstract: A pneumatically operated mold ejection apparatus using a pneumatic pressure source exterior to a multiplate injection molding tool. The pressure source operates at least one knock-out pin disposed within a molding plate. Said pin is connected to a pneumatic piston spring loaded against a stop positioning the pin flush with the inner wall of the cavity during injection of plastic. The stop also positions the piston so that compressed air can reach the piston's surface when the pressure source is actuated. The piston includes a circumferential annular groove containing an O-ring for pneumatic sealing. The back side of the molding plate includes pneumatic channels between the cylinder and their intersection with a complimentary channel in the backing plate. These channels connect the system to the pressure source, and are surrounded by an O-ring trapped between the molding and backing plates for pneumatic sealing.

  • Patent number: 4875143
Abstract: There is provided a vehicular after market accessory suitable for replacing the original equipment cover for an audio speaker. The accessory customizes the vehicular audio system by the addition of lights. Lighting means are disposed in a series of discrete locations about the circumference of the pre-existing audio speaker, each of which are in electrical communication with a circuit designed to illuminate said means in sequence to create the effect of light moving about the circumference of the speaker. The circuit design is independent of audio output, and is such that two individual lighting means on opposite sides of the circumference are illuminated at any moment in time and are extinguished as the next lighting means adjoining them are illuminated, thereby creating the effect of two lights rotating about the circumference of the speaker directly opposite each other and in the same direciton. Each of the lights appear to chase each other.

  • Patent number: 4803938
Abstract: A boat that is powered by an autogyro rotor is disclosed. A boat hull having a stern mounted rudder is provided with a selectively rotatable boom, preferably mounted in proximity to the rudder at the hull centerline. The boom is angled upwardly from its rotatable base, terminating at its upper extremity in a pivoting rotor mount and stops. The stops define the limits of pivot or cant of the rotor axis, the first being preferably horizontal and the second approximately thirty degrees (30.degree.) thereto. When disposed at thirty degrees (+.degree.) the axis passes through the center of lateral resistance of the rudder and hull combination, the effect being to minimize heel, ballast used to resist heel, and that part of a keel used to resist heel, resulting in less drag and greater speed. An upward thrust component of the autogyro rotor also results in reversal of the normally downward force component from heel, further reducing drag and increasing speed. Lee or weather helm is also substantially eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4739719
Abstract: An improved performance marine surface vessel with a recess in its underside that is pressurized with gas to form a supporting gas cushion that carries a substantial portion of vessel weight. The gas cushion is restrained by catamaran-like sidehulls, a movable seal forward, and substantially rigid aft seal. The recess is shaped on its upper surface to provide good ride qualities in rough seas and maximum stability in roll. In some instances a center hull and/or a skeg-like device are utilized to separate portions of the recess. The sidehulls can include secondary lifting surfaces on both sides to aid in operation with the pressurized gas supply not operating. The forward movable seal is best made in several elements that are individually removable through an opening in the front deck. The seal elements are formed at their top portion by a substantially rigid cap that also attaches the seal to the hull.

  • Patent number: 4735164
Abstract: A rapid boat docking and efficient loading/unloading apparatus is provided that utilizes an attachment system. The attachment system also serves as a gangplank in the preferred embodiment to attach the boat to the dock. The principal forces required to attach the boat to the dock are optionally part of the boat itself in the form of an air lifting system that holds the boat at a level higher than its waterline at rest so long as an air blower is in operation that supplies pressurized air to a chamber or recess on the underside of the boat. As blower power is reduced, the boat settles into its docking slip with the attachment system. The attachment system is located preferably at the bow on each side of the boat, and comes into contact with the dock as the boat lowers. In the preferred embodiment, attachment arms which are part of the boat have a half cylindrical track on their underside which fit into a mating socket track on the dock.

  • Patent number: 4732446
Abstract: The invention provides a printed circuit board having an optical data buss incorporated therein. Optical fibers are imbedded within the body of the printed circuit board and form an optical data circuitry within the board. Holes are formed in the printed circuit board at predetermined locations to receive a novel chip carrier. The chip carriers have a transparent area that interfaces with the optical fibers. Optical data entering the chip carrier is intercepted by an optical beam-splitter where the signals are directed to a photo transistor die for conversion to electrical signals which are then conducted to an integrated circuit die and into the printed circuitry of the printed circuit board. Electrical data signals from the printed circuit board may be conducted to the chip carrier which also contains a photo-transmitter die where the electrical data signals are converted to optical signal data and are projected to a beam-splitter for deflection into the optical fiber circuitry.

  • Patent number: 4598840
Abstract: A precision fluid dilution device intended primarily for handling precisely sized fluid samples and diluting such samples with preset volumes of a diluent, such as a chemical reagent, in which the diluent is contained in a removable valveless fluid cartridge that normally uses separate piston cylinders and pistons therein disposed for sampling and for diluent delivery. Sample pickup and diluent delivery is preferably accomplished in a tubular fluid passageway attached to the cartridge, such tubular passageway terminating in an open end after passing through a hand probe in most instances. Sample pickup is accomplished by inserting the tubular passageway open end into a sample fluid, withdrawing the sample piston a precise distance thereby aspirating a known amount of sample fluid into the tubular passageway. An accurate amount of diluent is then dispensed along with the sample.
