  • Patent number: 4597179
Abstract: There is provided a device which is principally used for trimming to a predetermined length the leads on electronics components prior to their insertion and connection to a printed circuit board. The device comprises a housing, in which is disposed positioning means and a movable plunger to which is attached a cutter blade. Also in contact therewith are resilient urging means to maintain close contact for effective shear cutting between the cutter blade and a die removably, but in fixed position, attached to the housing. The die incorporates holes or perforations into which the component leads are inserted for trimming, a plurality of holes normally being utilized in positions that correspond to the position of such leads on said component. The die is also a predetermined thickness, which thickness establishes the lengths to which the leads are trimmed in accordance with the specifications and thickness of the PC board to which the component will subsequently be soldered.

  • Patent number: 4587918
Abstract: An improved performance marine surface vessel with one or more recesses that intersect the hull substantially beneath the waterline thereof, the recess bounded by stabilizing, planing, catamaran-like sidehulls with bow shaped members located at its forward and aft portions and optionally therebetween, with the recess being supplied with pressurized gas to maintain a lift-augmenting, restrained pressurized gas layer under the hull that improves load-carrying capability, efficiency and ride quality. The keels of the sidehulls diverge for at least a portion of their length. The fore and aft bow shaped members, and optional intermediate bow sections in some cases, contact the water like small bow sections thereby improving hull ride and handling characteristics and reducing gas leakage.

  • Patent number: 4532662
Abstract: A modified waterbed is provided comprising a liquid-containing mattress or bladder, a resiliently compressible, elastomeric material, porous as to the liquid forming a resilient insert disposed within the bladder, and a resilient base positioned at least in part beneath the bladder and having properties that are similar to the properties of the resilient insert. The resilient insert and resilient base have as one of those properties a function defined as displacement force divided by penetration depth, and that property of each is substantially similar to the other. In a preferred embodiment the bladder will be surrounded laterally with a resilient perimeter member to laterally contain the bladder, said resilient perimeter member being stiffer in terms of the displacement function divided by penetration depth than the similarly defined function of both the resilient base and resilient insert.

  • Patent number: 4466956
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for the treatment of oral herpes simplex that manifests itself as ulcerations and ulcers of the type that appear in or near the mouth or other mucous membranes or other such conditions as canker sores, cold sores, fever blisters, aptheous ulcerations and the like. Said method comprises the serial application of povidone-iodine and then application immediately thereafter of triamcinolone acetonide used as an anti-inflammatory agent and adhesive. The foregoing serial treatment is preferably repeated on a once or twice per day basis for two or more days and it results in a highly accelerated relief of paint in a matter of minutes or hours, and complete elimination of the ulceration in a matter of a week or less.

  • Patent number: 4426804
Abstract: A fishing float is disclosed which is comprised of two longitudinally extending half portions, lengthwisely hinged together in a manner whereby they may be opened to expose the interiors thereof and closed to form a symmetrical configuration. Each half portion defines a hollow shell with a replaceable half core therein, formed of a suitable low specific gravity closed cell form material. One half portion includes a friction jaw in each end for adjustable securing engagement with a fishing line passing therethrough, and a snap lock is formed integrally with respective mating edges of the two halves to secure said two halves in a closed condition.

  • Patent number: 4392445
Abstract: An improved performance marine surface vessel with at least one recess that intersects the hull substantially beneath the static waterline thereof, the recess bounded by stabilizing, load-carrying, catamaran-like side hulls, flexible seal member at its forward portion, with downwardly extending generally bow shaped members located at its aft portion and optionally therebetween, with the recess being supplied with pressurized gas to maintain a lift-augmenting, restrained pressurized gas layer under the hull that improves load carrying capability, efficiency and ride quality. The flexible or soft seal member at the front of the vessel absorbs much of the initial wave impact thereby contributing substantially to the exceptional ride quality which, along with efficiency and speed, is a major object of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4391271
Abstract: The respirator circuit of which the present invention is a part includes a water cascade for humidification of the air, oxygen enriched air or pure oxygen from a conventional respirator. From the cascade a first conduit tube portion connects to a first branch of a Y fitting, a second branch thereof connects a second conduit tube portion to a spirometer, and the main Y fitting leg connects to a conventional endotracheal tube. The improvement that is the focus of this invention is a secondary suction tube or aspirator which is located in close relation to the lowermost main length of the circuit conduits and a plurality of perforations connect between and along the lengths of the main circuit and suction tubes.

  • Patent number: 4386476
Abstract: An edge lighted display sign is disclosed which provides a base portion, defining a housing for a light source and a variable duty cycle oscillator including an exteriorly disposed ratio control device whereby the light source may be controlled from an "off" position, through an "on" "off" blinking range, from a very slow to a very rapid blinking, to a completely "on" position. A longitudinally extending slot is provided along the top length of the base to receive a lower end length of a transparent panel, formed of a clear or translucent glass or a suitable plastic material, whereby the lower edge portion of the glass panel is directly exposed to the light source. In a preferred form, the light source comprises a fluorescent light tube, and a removable bottom panel is provided for the housing to permit access to the light source and the cycle oscillator. A back side of the transparent panel is provided with an opaque coating or covering. Alternatively, the back side may be frosted.

  • Patent number: 4290883
Abstract: A device for separating into two or more components an aggregate of various species of particles immersed in and settled at the bottom of a body of fluid, one application being the removal of biological debris settled on and within the gravel bed of an aquarium, without, however, removing the gravel. The device, which is used in combination with an auxiliary pumping and filtering means, employs a separator chamber having a mouth kept close to or in contact with said aggregate, and accomplishes its purpose by a flow induced through said chamber via inlet and outlet ports therein, with no flow or only a minor flow in through the mouth, while dirt and debris are induced into the chamber by a turbulent action provided for therewithin, such that the dirt and debris are entrained and swept away by the flow, but not the denser gravel.
