  • Patent number: 4287905
Abstract: A pair of interlocked flap valves within a faucet, such as a hose bib, provides for a fluid flow from a pressurized source through a discharge outlet while preventing a back flow to the source due to a lower pressure at the source than exists downstream as would occur within a resilient garden hose filled with water, sealed off, and being heated by the sun. A first flap valve, comprising a check valve, automatically closes when the main line pressure drops substantially or completely ceases, or by backflow pressures. When the check valve closes, an interlock connection thereof to a second flap valve, comprising a relief valve, simultaneously opens said relief valve relative to a relief port for outward discharge of the fluid. A manual control knob provides for selective "on-off" operation of the check valve.

  • Patent number: 4278186
Abstract: A beverage dispensing control and quantity monitoring system includes a transponder to transmit a signal from a control cap placed on a liquor bottle to a receiver system and then to a data processing device. The cap fits on the bottle and contains an electronic package which will meter an exact amount of beverage when tilted, thus controlling the amount poured. The cap also transmits to the receiver such data as the operator or bartender pouring the beverage, the type of beverage, the amount of beverage, and any other necessary data such as when the cap is removed from the bottle, when the battery therein is low, etc. This is accomplished using a plurality of data bits preprogrammed into each bottle cap which are serialized using a shift register. The serialized data gates the output of an LF oscillator. A separator HF signal transmitted from the vicinity of the bottlecap is mixed in a nonlinear device with the gated LF oscillator output and radiated to a remote receiver and data processing device.

  • Patent number: 4214601
Abstract: A single small safety valve is furnished for use with hazardous machinery that requires simultaneous actuation and continuous pressure on two hand valves at points out of the danger zone of such machinery. Operating characteristics are achieved by a housing having an axial bore, a piston moving within that axial bore, input ports, output ports and an exhaust port located at suitable positions on the housing. The arrangement of these ports is such that open fluid communication can exist between the two input and output ports only if the input ports are pressurized within a small time interval necessary to retain the piston in a neutral position in the axial bore, and if said inputs are held to maintain pressurization during the time that it is desired to maintain pressure in the output ports. Operation of the hazardous machinery is contingent upon continuous pressurization at the output ports.

  • Patent number: 4205465
Abstract: A device suitable for use in a game and method for the education, enhancement and therapy of occular, motor, and occular-motor skills, wherein the device comprises an elevated reservoir containing inscribed elements which can be selectively released through at least one perforation to a plurality of sloping chutes connected beneath the reservoir, and including a lower terminus of the chutes and inscribed racks which permit a subject to move the elements to detents in the racks. The method comprises the steps of examining the elements selectively released from the reservoir, determining a substantially identical or analogous inscription on a rack, and placement of each element released in turn thereon.

  • Patent number: 4196424
Abstract: For use with an electronic antishoplifting surveillance system, a reusable, low cost telltale tag intended to be attached to merchandise such as garments includes a passive electronic circuit or other stimulus and it can be locked on the merchandise so it can only be removed with a key held by authorized personnel. The passive electronic circuit serves to activate the surveillance system.

  • Patent number: 4165703
Abstract: A V boat hull with air chamber substantially aft and entirely beneath the waterline. The air chamber reduces drag, thereby improving hull efficiency and speed, without substantially altering V hull handling characteristics and aesthetics.

  • Patent number: 4161871
Abstract: A locking mechanism is provided having a rotatable inner cylinder concentric with a fixed conventionally sized outer cylinder and coplanar resiliently urged coplanar pins. A face plate contains a nonrotatable slot to accept a substantially conventionally sized key at a 90 degree angle from the plane of the pins. The key is provided with grooves cut on a forward bias to depress the pins as the key and inner cylinder together are rotated through the plane of the pins. The inner cylinder is connected to bolt actuating linkage in the customary manner. A pin bar having reverse bias grooves in the same profile as the key is inserted into radial channels provided therefor during assembly of the lock, said pin bar permitting locking without the presence of the key. The key slot may contain a barrier bisecting the key slot to prevent unauthorized access to the pins, with a correspondence cleft in the key to fit around the barrier.

  • Patent number: 4152704
Abstract: A portable transceiver antenna is provided with a base suitable for retention by a fishing rodholder or for hand held use and is pretuned to facilitate its use without a ground plane. The antenna includes an electrically conductive rod which may be covered by a dielectric and segmented, and would then include couplings fabricated from ferrules closely fitted over nipples to produce reliable electrical contact through the coupling. The antenna may be used with citizens band, very high frequency - frequency modulated, and similar applications.

  • Patent number: 4136601
Abstract: A no tie down valve or device for the actuation of hazardous machinery. The device comprises a spool moving within a cylindrical cavity having capped ends; input ports, an output port, and an exhaust port are located at suitable positions on the cylindrical cavity wall such that a pressurized output can only be obtained if both inputs are pressurized, and subsequently held, within a small time interval determined by design parameters of the device. An equivalent construction in terms of poppet or diaphragm-type seals, which is inherently more reliable and maintainance-free than spool construction, is also described.

  • Patent number: 4087802
Abstract: A high frequency generator projects an electronic wave into a control zone under surveillance to establish a first field. A frequency modulated (FM) generator is used for establishing a second field throughout the zone. A third field of the same FM carrier frequency, but with a different modulation, is established only at extreme ends of the control zone to define the limits of the control zone. Presence only within the control zone of a transponder causes the reradiation of a signal comprised of the FM signal and the high frequency signal, which in turn activates an alarm circuit.
