  • Patent number: 6102319
Abstract: A fishing line removal device and method is shown with two frustoconical spool portions, each having a larger diameter end and a smaller diameter end, and being arranged on a rod with the smaller diameter ends of the two spool portions contacting each other. A free end of a fishing line is trapped between the smaller diameter ends of the two frustoconical spool portions, and the spool portions are then locked in position on the rod. When the rod is rotated as a unit with the two frustoconical spool portions and the free end of the fishing line trapped between the smaller diameter ends of the two spool portions, a neat, compact and donut-shaped bundle of fishing line is formed around the tapered outer peripheral surfaces of the two frustoconical spool portions. Removal of one of the spool portions from the rod allows removal of the donut-shaped bundle of fishing line for reuse or recycling.

  • Patent number: 6095172
Abstract: A sunshade assembly removably mounts to outdoor furniture, such as a lounge chair, and includes a canopy structure having first and second pivotally movable frame members, and a foldable material canopy fitted to and extending between the frame members. A tensioning bar removably secures to the respective frame members at opposite ends to maintain the frame members separated so that the canopy is pulled taut, thereby blocking the sun's rays and creating an area of shade. A telescoping support arm attaches to the furniture at one end and to the first frame member at an opposite end and is adjustable in length to selectively position and maintain the expanded canopy throughout a range of adjusted positions relative to the furniture, thereby controlling the location of the created area of shade. The canopy structure collapses behind the furniture upon removing the tensioning bar and releasing the lower end of the support arm from attachment with the furniture.

  • Patent number: 6076847
Abstract: An elongate post removably supported on a towed vehicle and extending upwardly therefrom; a traveler removably fitted to the post and movably positionable along a length thereof throughout a range of fixed, adjusted positions and including opposing arm members surrounding and gripping the post when in a relaxed state to thereby hold the traveler fixed to the post at the adjusted positions, and the arm members being structured to be urged outwardly from the relaxed state to release the grip, thereby permitting sliding movement of the traveler along the post; and a mirror device pivotally fitted to the traveler member and being angularly adjustable for positioning the mirror in a manner which presents a reflected image of a hitch component on the towed vehicle viewable by the operator in the rear view mirror of a towing vehicle, to thereby allow the operator to maneuver the towing vehicle so that a hitch component on the towing vehicle moves toward and into alignment with the hitch component on the towed vehicl

  • Patent number: 6073958
Abstract: An all terrain wheelchair for outdoor recreational use is made of non-corrosive materials, such as polyethylene plastic, stainless steel and aluminum, and includes opposite frame members, a collapsible hinged brace assembly fitted between the frame members which locks in an expanded box configuration to hold the opposite frame members apart, defining an operable position for use of the wheelchair. The front and rear wheels include wide rims having horizontal ribs to provide increased traction and surface contact area when traversing soft terrain. Removable armrests are provided to aid ingress and egress of a person in and out of the wheelchair. A shade cover mounts to the frame members to provide protection from the sun and rain. In the expanded, locked position, the box shaped brace assembly provides a storage area under the seat and includes hinged doors at the rear and an open front to provide access to an interior of the box structure.

  • Patent number: 6073764
Abstract: A storage device for holding a collection of individual units of media such as, but not limited to, compact discs, DVD's, CD-roms, mini discs, video game cassettes, cassette tapes, VCR tapes, microcassettes, and the like, includes a frame structure having first and second longitudinal frame members maintained in spaced apart, parallel relation and a plurility of carriers supported transversely between the longitudinal frame members in a series of rows. The carriers each include a base and front and rear transparent panels extending upwardly from the base in spaced parallel relation to one another for holding one or more of the media units therebetween in a generally upright position. The carriers are normally maintained in a rearwardly inclined position and are independently movable, in a flipping motion, about a transverse pivot axis through a range of movement between the rearwardly inclined position and a forwardly inclined position.

  • Patent number: 6070522
Abstract: A transportable apparatus includes a housing with a door which opens to facilitate placement of trash within a trash receiving chamber of the apparatus. A sweep within the trash receiving chamber is actuated upon closing the door, forcing the deposited trash into a first compaction chamber, wherein the trash is mixed and compressed into a condensed mass by converging chamber walls and a downwardly directed spray of water released from high pressure nozzles at the top of the chamber. A reciprocating horizontal plate at the lower end of the first compaction chamber slices off a bottom layer of the mass of trash with each cycle of forward and rearward movement. The sliced layers of trash are pushed and compacted into a second compaction chamber until the second chamber is full. The trash is then compressed to form a composite unit of predetermined size and configuration.

  • Patent number: 6062510
Abstract: A kite includes an arrangement of elongate, flexible rods interconnected at one or more joints to define a frame structure. A primary tensioning system provides a reactive force, in response to a wind force exerted on the frame structure, to thereby increase frame rigidity and resistance against bending and breaking of the rods. Secondary tensioners absorb the wind force and provide resistance against deforming of the frame structure when under stress. A net, secured to the frame structure by the secondary tensioners, extends across a front face of the kite. The net, having an open weave construction, provides no resistance to wind forces. One or more panels, formed of a thin film material, such as lightweight fabric or plastic, are selectively and removably positionable on the front face, against the net; the panels being impervious to air flow and thereby defining a wind confronting surface for providing wind resistance.

  • Patent number: 6050559
Abstract: The present invention provides a bar clamp made of lightweight parallel metal bars, e.g., aluminum, having movable or adjustable contacting attachment bodies which allow the clamp to be used for various applications. The bar clamp of the present invention is equipped with a measurement gauge for accurate attachment of the contacting attachment bodies to the workpiece. The parallel bars are separated and secured to each other by spacers and the bars have tracks along the inner faces of their entire length along which the attachment bodies move. One embodiment of the present invention discloses how the attachment bodies can be replaced by large frames having multiple attachment bodies mounted thereon for holding the workpiece in a vertical or horizontal position. Also, various designs of the attachment bodies which are interchangeable are provided.

  • Patent number: 6032134
Abstract: A data processing system and method are provided for allocating all charged transactions, accrued interest attributable to each charged transaction, and payments made by respective credit cardholders, to sub-accounts specifically designated by the cardholder. In particular, at the point of purchase, the cardholder specifies one or more designated sub-accounts to which the charge is to be allocated. The data processing system allocates to each designated sub-account all charges specified, as well as all interest charges that accrue as to each designated sub-account to which the interest charges are attributable. As each periodic payment is made by the cardholder, the cardholder has the capability of specifying the designated sub-account or portion thereof which is being paid. The data processing system allocates each payment to the designated sub-account(s) specified by the cardholder and calculates interest charges allocable to each designated sub-account as adjusted by each payment by the cardholder.
