    Abstract: A floating-frame spot-type disc brake is described comprising a floating frame (1) guided in a manner axially displaceable on a brake carrier (12), and being furnished with two brake cylinders (2, 3) and two brake pistons (4, 5) directly acting on two axially inwardly disposed brake shoes (6, 7). The brake carrier (12) is located entirely on one side of the brake disc and no portion extends across the outer edge of the brake disc (15), so that the maximum diameter of the brake disc is limited only by the relatively thin sections of the floating frame (1) extending across the outer edge of the brake disc. Additional brake shoes (8, 9, 22), on the axially outer side, are fixed to the floating frame (1), in turn transmitting the circumferential force acting on the outer shoes occurring during braking through a bolt guide (10), into the brake carrier (12).

    Abstract: An anti-lock-controlled brake system which, with a minimum number of locking valves between the pressure medium storage reservoir (20) and the wheel brakes (31, 32, 33, 34), is equally suitable for traction slip control with all types of brake circuit allocation. An electromagnetically operated locking valve (27) is provided in the connection line (18) from the pressure medium storage reservoir (20) to the first pressure chamber (8), while the connection through connection line (19) to the second pressure chamber (9) is controlled via the stroke of the floating piston (7) applied by the pressure of the primary brake circuit (I). The pressure build-up required in the primary brake circuit (I) at the beginning of a traction slip control operation is brought about by a pump (26) or the like which either is already provided for brake-slip-dependent braking pressure control or is additionally incorporated in the hydraulic circuitry exclusively for traction slip control.

    Abstract: A method of assembling elements into a valve block is described, especially for use with slip-controlled brake systems, a sealing ball, valve covers or valve seats are inserted into the valve block to be sealed without using force fitting swaging or other mechanical working of the parts, to avoid contaminating abrasive particles generated by those processors. The elements are inserted into openings in the valve block housing with a clearance fit, and heated to a temperature higher than the austenite starting temperature causing a memory shape to be restored, which provides a sealing fixation of the elements in respective openings in the valve block.

    Abstract: An actuating unit for a hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles which operates by a precisely defined change-over pressure and with lost travel independent of the speed of actuation. The actuating unit includes a pneumatic brake power booster and a master brake cylinder connected downstream of the pneumatic brake power booster. The master brake cylinder contains a primary piston coupled with an annular piston of larger diameter. The annular piston confines a filling chamber which may be connected to the hydraulic pressure chamber. The annular piston is adapted to uncouple from the primary piston when the pressure acting on the annular piston reaches a predetermined amount. Thus, the displacement of the filling volume by the annular piston does not require an entire stroke of the master brake cylinder.

    Abstract: An anti-lock hydraulic brake system provides a phase of pressure increase, a phase of pressure decrease as well as a phase in which the pressure is kept constant. To this end, an outlet valve and a selector valve are provided. The selector valve is not connected to the pressure side of the pump as is usual but to the suction side of the pump. This arrangement produces the advantage that the selector valve is disposed in the low-pressure area of the brake system thereby eliminating the occurrence of great pressure surges which result in the emission of noise.

The apparatus also includes an extendable adjusting unit which is disposed between the brake piston and the mechanical actuating device and includes an adjusting nut threadedly mounted on an adjusting spindle. The apparatus is arranged with a friction clutch to hold back one of the adjusting elements in the event of a mechanical actuation. The brake piston has a cylindrical portion which is directed into the interior of the brake piston and projects from the brake piston. The cylindrical portion of the brake piston is surrounded by the adjusting nut and a ring-shaped circumferential sealing element bears against an external surface of the cylindrical portion of the brake piston.
