  • Patent number: 4036107
Abstract: A vertical orientation column capable of orienting or positioning a large workpiece, such as a marine propeller, with respect to four or five axes and a process for machining large and complex workpieces. The column is so constructed as to allow quick installation and removal of the workpiece and to position the workpiece in close proximity to the particular tool which is operating on the workpiece. The orientation column of the present invention is advantageously employed in the machining of propeller blade surfaces and the column is compatible with automatically controlled tools, such as machine tools operated by numerical control. In addition, the orientation column itself may be operated by numerical control. A process for rigidly mounting and moving a large workpiece to be machined for machining of complex shapes therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4033253
Abstract: Fruit press comprising an endless conveyor belt for transporting the fruit or other material to be dewatered or dejuiced, the belt being driven in a horizontal direction, one or more hydraulic platens for compressing the fruit or other liquid-containing compressable material for dejuicing, dewatering, or deoiling the same, as the case may be, movable, permeable sides associated with each platen to contain the sides of the cake being pressed by the platen and vertically movable gates upstream and downstream of each platen to contain the cake being pressed.

  • Patent number: 3996933
Abstract: An intrauterine contraceptive device comprising an elongated shank having divergent convoluted portions at its distal end, said convoluted portions being generally sinusoidal in nature, said device having incorporated in said shank a permanent magnet and having a substantial portion of its surface covered with a biologically inert, silicone elastomeric material which may contain an analgaesic or anti-fertility agent which is gradually eleased in utero. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the proximal end, of the shank contains a pair of downwardly extending divergent, resilient legs which tend to prevent inadvertent expulsion of the device.

  • Patent number: 3955429
Abstract: An inertia motor for use in toys, comprising a drive gear mounted on one of the axles of the vehicle and having a substantial diameter and rotating a pinion gear which is coaxially mounted with a substantially larger back gear, which in turn drives a pinion which is coaxial with a flywheel, the flywheel being mounted eccentrically with respect to the drive shaft. The flywheel is of such size and weight, and the gear ratios are such that the flywheel is rotated at least about twenty times with each rotation of the drive gear and, therefore, stores a substantial amount of energy which is slowly released from the flywheel to the drive gear to provide a slow, prolonged release of energy to drive the vehicle. In one embodiment of the invention, a pair of gear trains are provided, one on each side of the flywheel, in mirror image to each other, and the housing therefor, which may contain only two wheels, is in a substantially eliptical shape having a flattened bottom.
